Your arguments are hashed out in popular apologetics by people like Josh McDowell. They have no relevancy as to the truth of the documents. Again, nobody knows who wrote them, and it is disputed as to when...estimates range from the mid 1st century to the early second century.

Wow. So I'm supposed to be impressed. I could get 4 different answers on where Michael Jackson was buried, and he only died a year ago. Why would I believe this guy, who isn't even an archaeologist. So if you do some "at the surface" investigating, you can be on a some internet talk show. If you watched Simcha in the Jesus Tomb special he stated in the question and answer session that he is NOT an archaeologist. He is an investigative journalist. His title Naked Archaeologist is simply that, a self imposed title. His goal is to create controversy and create a marketable program. He states theory as fact then uses the unproven facts to prove his viewpoint. My fear is that people will take him at his word and not research his shows.

The man makes a good argument. I remember when the gifted archaeologist John Romer said that he was in Jerusalem when the tomb was first found. It was discounted by the Biblical Archaeologists [an Oxymoron of the first water btw] on the dig as being impossible because as they said to Romer, "Jesus rose from the dead, there would be no tomb..." the discovery WAS deliberately hidden for years. Frankly, if it is their tomb, it makes them more real to me. Before I thought it was all myth.

I don't understand why you're upset? Don't you want people to study history looking to find out everything we can about our ancestors? Certainly if the story of jesus is true we might discover evidence of it and that would be great for everyone.

We have records from over 40 historians from that era and not one mentions him. There's a good chance Jesus is just a fraud. Completely made up from thin air.

If a Jesus tomb, with the remains of Jesus inside, could really be proven, it would shake up both extremes: ultraconservative Christianity that says Jesus physically rose up into Heaven and ultra-atheistic stuff that says Jesus is just a myth. Now that would be impressive. It would show that Truth really does tend not to fit into the boxes we like to cram it into.

oh my... look, ya'll have to realize that there's two different sides of all religions; you have the legends, myths, the divine and so on, basically the spiritual history. and then you have the historic persons and events based on findings, "evidence", found by archeologists, which in a scientific way can be proven. If this is IN FACT the tomb of Jesus of Nazareth then maybe it doesnt have anything to do with his divinity but at the same time it doesnt rule out the possibility of him being a god

I suggest you read Bruce Metzger (who, sadly, passed away recently) and Bart Ehrman. The number of manuscripts we have dating before the third century is not so great as you think. Your arguments are hashed out in popular apologetics by people like Josh McDowell. They have no relevancy as to the truth of the documents. Again, nobody knows who wrote them, and it is disputed as to when...estimates range from the mid 1st century to the early second century.

Other scholars...T.L. Thompson wrote "The Mythic Past," among other works. There is a huge body of work disputing the historical accuracy of the Bible...starting with "Das Leben Jesu" by Strauss in 1835 and carried on through to today. Granted, it's all hotly contested by true believers...many of them scholars themselves. Still, it's no done deal. The Bible is, in fact, contested as an historical document.

The Gospels themselves are anonymous. Nobody knew who wrote them. Check "The Case for Christ" for that one. The were attributed 150 years after the purported death of Jesus by Bishop Ireneaus of Lyons. Or didn't you know that?
