African music, particularly, those from Congo has made Europeans who recorded it millionaires while leaving many artists who sang it in poverty. They have rights to this music even if they do not understand the language! I was shocked to learn that Jean-Bosco Mwenda's music cannot be traced. His guitar was stolen from his recently late son and may be found somewhere in Belgium in the jands of some belgian! African story, told through music, is being destroyed. Mwenda was used in Kenya alot!
Collaborons.
Panafrica Heritage Centre's main mission is to document the roots and the migration of African Arts, Music, and culture. We're archiving the traditions and African master pieces we can trace. Knowing yhat Africa is the cradle of the humanity.
The mutuashi in this video was superb,I could listen to it all day! Also,at about 4:52,there is a photo of a woman with the most remarkably huge red beads,I'd love a closeup of those beads, they're stunning!
That woman was supposed to tour Europe this summer with Kasai Allstars but the tour was cancelled due to visa problems. I'll ask her about the beads and be back to you.
Yes,many visa problems with African musicians who are not super famous, this is a shame, and highly questionable. And,yes, thank you,I would love to know the name of that type of beads!!
