@TheRobotWarsChannel They were seeded, 17. Personally, I think it should have been higher, at least in the top 16 since it was a semi finalist, and above some others for its brave performance here, trying to stop the disc early, and going down like a warrior.
@r4ptur3B Hypno Disc has also torn apart Robogeddon, Stealth, Vmax and others on scales similar to this. Disco Inferno tore half of Velocirippa's shell off and forced the team to retire it, Supernova decapitated Spartacus, 13 Black caused huge chassis damage to Choas 2, but one of the most brutal maulings ive seen was in the Dutch Robot Wars. A cannon fodder robot called Shapeshifter met Matilda's flywheel, and..... just search Dutch Robot Wars: Series 1, Heat E, Part 2 (fight starts at 8:13).
@HarryandMartinCorp well son of whyachi is in a heavier weight class if i recall so it would have more force behind it. that is the basic principle of flywheels, the more weight you have on a flywheel it has more energy in it. thats why typhoon 2 was so effective in series 7. because the weapon was virtually the entire robots weight so it had lots of force behind it. but typhoon 2 vs son of whyachi would be interesting

Hypnodisc was a very destructive robot, but I think a lot of roboteers decided to put much heavier armour plating on their robots which really negated hypnodiscs advantage. In particular Behemoth who could keep shoving them around the arena and receive little damage for their trouble.

@LRHorny no IT could have happened in Season 5 in the Grand Final but Hypnodisc was beaten in the last 4 by a very battered bigger brother was a real shocker
@kizzagt But they showed sportmanship. They were one of the five other competitors (one other being Chaos 2) who helped fix Bigger Brother for the fight with Razor. So Bigger Brother ended up with parts from 5 other robots excluding itself.
@peppers515 i think it had a battery from panic attack, and firestorm gave them a fresh motor. the hypno-disc boys helped with the armour, chaos 2 gave them a fresh co2 canister and helped repair the flipper, and a couple of others helped :)

@peppers515 I think that might have been back in the mid season when Pusscat where using an illegal type of blade that shattered in a later match causing them to be disqualified. Razor where annoyed that they where still behind even after they where bumped up because of the illegal blade useage.

you could make the same claim about Firestorms fight against razer in the same tournament, they were pushing razer all around the arena and at one point both robots effectively jumped over the pit a tiny bit better luck and razer falls into the pit and firestorm goes through.
in my opinion firestorm came closer to that grand final then hynodisc did because there was nobody contesting whether or not hypnodisc had won
they may have been completly destroyed, but this was the first design to (albeit incredibly breifly) minimise the effect of the hypno -disc. behomoth used a simillar tactic to win their match against them, although they didnt include the part in the plan about getting shreaded to pieces.
To be fair though, apart from the Robots like "Grannies Revenge" which are just jokes and they know after 1 fight they will lose there robots, robots like this are just awful designs, what the hell are those 2 little pick axes gona do seriously.. i don't know why they are suprised they got mullerd, splinter is a shit robot!
You'll probably thumb me down, but this demonstrates why i dislike hypno disc, great robot but the team suck. when it's dead leave it alone, it isn't fun to watch someone kicking a dead horse.
The thing is, yes, there's no point in pulling a dead bot apart, but that's the point of the show... I loved Hypno-disc and still do because it's an amazingly powerful robot, but you're right, there's no point in tearing apart a robot just for the heck of it... Apart from entertainment of the fans of the show...
I remember when Robot Wars was coming to an end, and hypno Discs disc was so powerful. It was up to full power in like 2 seconds and you could hear the whir of the disc spiinning.
Hypnodisc at it's best. The Splinter boys must have been crying in the pits when somebody told them who they'd be fighting.
That being said it was a hell of an effort by Splinter in the opening seconds of the fight. When I watched this on TV years ago I thought they might have had Hypnodisc when Dead Metal grabbed them.
I disagree. They were cagey against Dominator in the 5th Wars but no-one else. Regardless, this is still the all time classic Robot Wars fight. What we all really wanted to see to be honest. I think Hypno would still do well today if they brought it back.
If it did come back the armour would be back to series 3 protection which as we all know can't stand up to attacks from robots like Hypno-Disc and Razer
They did a lot of damage. But nothing as awesome like against Stealth, Robogeddon and Splinter. They could have done against Atomic but left the house robots at it. But you're right about the improving standards.
Not true, they did a lot of damage to Wild Thing, Wheely Big Cheese, Atomic and Bigger Brother. But of course, the robots got better after Season 5 so there wasn't as much destruction now as there was back then.
Nice effort by Splinter but a bit too fragile to go up against Hypnodisc for long.
Makes me wonder how the 'recovery' goes after a battle like this. Do they just walk around the arena looking for every little bit that Hypnodisc tore off them.
Unfortunately, most of the real all stars like Razer and Hypnodisc retired even before series 7. A lot of the others like Panic Attack have since retired.
Hay can any of you remember Hypnodisc vs someone else (who?) where hypno shred their opponent's skins off and then gone off to shred one of the internal component (a battery got polverized if I recall?)?
Just a question, though this might be a Battlebots thing, not sure, but I recall SOMEONE absolutly devestating someone so bad a peice of them flew into the bullet proof glass arena wall and took a large chunk out of it. I'm asking you simply because of what TheZadak said.
I'd actually say that Razer was the most destructive robot, it's beak could potentially cause a lot of damage. Hypnodisc was the most intimidating, watching your hard work go intoo shreds like that.
Haha I just love after how Hypnodisc finishes with Splinter Dead Metal comes in and gives the pile of pieces a 2 cm cut. The contrast makes it look so pathetic.

Hypnodisc at it's best. The Splinter boys must have been crying in the pits when somebody told them who they'd be fighting.
That being said it was a hell of an effort by Splinter in the opening seconds of the fight. When I watched this on TV years ago I thought they might have had Hypnodisc when Dead Metal grabbed them.

I disagree. They were cagey against Dominator in the 5th Wars but no-one else. Regardless, this is still the all time classic Robot Wars fight. What we all really wanted to see to be honest. I think Hypno would still do well today if they brought it back.

If it did come back the armour would be back to series 3 protection which as we all know can't stand up to attacks from robots like Hypno-Disc and Razer

They did a lot of damage. But nothing as awesome like against Stealth, Robogeddon and Splinter. They could have done against Atomic but left the house robots at it. But you're right about the improving standards.

I think that was the last time we saw major destruction from Hypno Disc. They were far too cagey in the 5th wars.

Not true, they did a lot of damage to Wild Thing, Wheely Big Cheese, Atomic and Bigger Brother. But of course, the robots got better after Season 5 so there wasn't as much destruction now as there was back then.

Nice effort by Splinter but a bit too fragile to go up against Hypnodisc for long.
Makes me wonder how the 'recovery' goes after a battle like this. Do they just walk around the arena looking for every little bit that Hypnodisc tore off them.

Unfortunately, most of the real all stars like Razer and Hypnodisc retired even before series 7. A lot of the others like Panic Attack have since retired.

Hay can any of you remember Hypnodisc vs someone else (who?) where hypno shred their opponent's skins off and then gone off to shred one of the internal component (a battery got polverized if I recall?)?

I believe that was RaizerBlade that got its battery ripped out and then smushed.

Nah, Raizer Blade just had a side panel ripped off.
Robogeddon had all its armor ripped off and V-max and Predator had their batteries ripped out.

Just a question, though this might be a Battlebots thing, not sure, but I recall SOMEONE absolutly devestating someone so bad a peice of them flew into the bullet proof glass arena wall and took a large chunk out of it. I'm asking you simply because of what TheZadak said.

hypnodisc is the only robot that could create REAL carnage realy.
Sure razor penetrates and chaos 2 flips but with hypnodisc the parts your sprays :D

I'd actually say that Razer was the most destructive robot, it's beak could potentially cause a lot of damage. Hypnodisc was the most intimidating, watching your hard work go intoo shreds like that.
