These guys were Marines in 2004 (telling by their armor), they were not experienced in urban fighting at this point in time and were not issued the shortened M4 and improved body armor so had to be careful and not dumb to run in. Because any smart guy knows to be careful going into an isolated building.
@amerikaistwunderbar6 Marines are meant to be cost effective but that doesn't mean they don't have access to some cool toys: they are completely self-sufficient and have their own air wing and assault "fleet" made of what I call mini-carriers. They also have their own Special Operations units consolidated into MARSOC which is made up of some tough mo-fos...so Marines aren't a force to fuck with.

there are lots of things to consider as well if you have 300 troops and your enemy has 10,000 your kill ratio has to be higher then 34, the amount of $, time and impact one US solder vs one Taliban solider, your fighting people so see killing just one of you is a huge victory and in there mind they've had 5000+ victories. When you US is both fighting these kinds of people and boast best trained troops in the world they have to back that up, not with jumpy solders.
No I have scene some really good squads in action never lost there cool, listened to there officer as a laid a plan of action and executed it leaving no room for the enemy to get clear shot at them, never making a stupid "right...no i mean left" crap. @andyhuangit it wasnt exactly clearing they had previously engaged an enemy in the building got up to the roof started down that set of stairs and realised that the enemy was in a fortified position they then exited the structure sweeping rooms that they had to go through or were adjacent to the rooms they had to go through and you can pretty much guess what happens in the end

Spetsnaz combat record from the 80s have been Afghanistan, Georgia, and Chechnya...that's it. US record: Afghanistan (CIA), Grenada, Panama, Gulf War, Bosnia, Iraq and current Afghanistan. These guys were Marines in 2004 (telling by their armor), they were not experienced in urban fighting at this point in time and were not issued the shortened M4 and improved body armor so had to be careful and not dumb to run in. Because any smart guy knows to be careful going into an isolated building.

@amerikaistwunderbar6 Marines are meant to be cost effective but that doesn't mean they don't have access to some cool toys: they are completely self-sufficient and have their own air wing and assault "fleet" made of what I call mini-carriers. They also have their own Special Operations units consolidated into MARSOC which is made up of some tough mo-fos...so Marines aren't a force to fuck with.

there are lots of things to consider as well if you have 300 troops and your enemy has 10,000 your kill ratio has to be higher then 34, the amount of $, time and impact one US solder vs one Taliban solider, your fighting people so see killing just one of you is a huge victory and in there mind they've had 5000+ victories. When you US is both fighting these kinds of people and boast best trained troops in the world they have to back that up, not with jumpy solders.
