  • I love Dusty...she had one unique voice. x

  • Burt Bacharach 4eva

  • nice :)

  • She is now an angel in God's choir!! One of the very best artists to come along in or time.

  • Wooooo.....love all 3 versions.....Dusty, Dionne and Cilla! Can't find 3 like these ladies in todays crowd.

  • @smokepuroful becoz they dont exist :-)

  • i think dusty sang it best.

  • She has a great voice. It seems she was "the Dionne Warwick" of England, what with singing the Bacharach/David numbers and all.

  • love Dusty but Dionne is the best with this song

  • What a great rendition. Fantastic job. This song is so solid, I've never heard a bad rendition of it. I love Dionne and Wynonna's versions but I love the clarity of Dusty voice, too.

  • Dusty + Bacharach = Perfection w/ Fender bass

  • Amazing performance. What a voice! There is no one like her today... her voice is so pure and she knows how to carry a song

  • thanks dusty for making a change in music. the only way to change the world.

you will be missed (rest in peace)

  • One of my favourites by her it's such a beautiful song :)

  • classic music , 60s totally .love it

  • Well put. Dusty never wailed - she SANG. Always moving, always exciting...

  • the voice of an angel

  • Magnificent voice.

  • 1:41 along with her voice sends goose me bumps!!!!

  • The best

  • Dam! Why Did You Leave Us Dusty!

Such A Haunting Beautiful Voice, Silenced!

    rip..........

  • forgot to say thank you..!!!

  • This song tore my heart strings out when I first heard it released...it does the same after all these years..no one else could ever really compete with Dusty on this one....it was HER song...!

  • Great song, great time for music. Dusty just didn't take anything from this song. She gave it the same respect that Luther Vandross gave it. He just slowed it down. But the meaning is still there.

  • I love her too

  • You grow up listening to and watching these beautiful and talented ladies, then all of a sudden you are all grown up and they, too, grow old, but no less full of grace, and then tragically - they are gone. Even though I never met Dusty I miss her grace, class, and charm. I can think of no current artist who comes even close to replacing her. None. Some may have the talent, but without the class. I sure miss that

  • @palehorseone here here, understand where you comming from, todays talent are lazy and sing original artists material. no more singer song writers these days only karaoke star wanabes. come on future performers.write something new, dont refurbish classics.coz they are perfected :-)

  • So Talented, so Beautiful!

  • Kim Wilde did cover version for Dusty's "Anyone who had heart" on her new album SNAPSHOTS

  • I grew up with Dustys music in London in the 60's. She had gift to bring us all in touch with our emotions. To this day when I hear her voice it makes me cry....Her life was too short. RIP you taught us all about love...

  • dusty is awesome :)

  • A CLASS ACT. Thank you for posting this.

  • A big sound from the heart of the sixties

  • Outstanding!! Great Stuff here!!

    5X5X5 Stars!!

    ~Matt~

  • The Greatest xx

  • Forgive me people. I appear to look like very big tough scary man on the outside but this beautifully sung song here is melting my heart and drawing tears in my eyes.

  • @BBQFanNo1 You tell it brother

  • I love you and I will always love you and I will never, ever forget you.

  • Thank you Dusty for the great memories....love you

  • a real from-the-heart and swinging performer and a lady with a superb & lovely voice

boy, she could sing almost anything!

with many of her songs, the hairs on my arms go stand up

  • We had an Angel ,and didn't know it .Beautiful women and a real star .

  • great song reminds me of a good friend

  • The difference between performers today and the greats of the past is this: Today it is all about how you look...not how good your "pipes" perform. It is easy for the music industry to get away with this because the vast majority of the masses today are musically illiterate.

  • tony k i love you so much ... these words are for you!!...xxx

    Su...xxx

  • Oh what a voice and a beauty. Gone to soon. She didn't need to wear skimpy clothes or a dubbing mike. are you listening Jennifer and all the rest of you wanna be singers. This is a singer!! I get chills listening to her again.

  • Dusty, the queen of Blue Eyed Soul !! what a voice !!, it takes real talent to beat

the original US R&B singers at their own game, the best female vocalist ever

except for maybe Aretha & Patsy Cline ??, such a distinctive, full, resonant , voice without fake growl or electronic trickery. A blessing from God IMHO

RIP princess..... you will never be forgotten

  • I was born in 1965 but only knew who sang this version in the 90's its just superb.

Burt Bachrach and Hal David wrote a timeless classic.

  • A beautiful song by a beautiful LADY. Even in death her beauty and talent continues on.

Her ashes half in "the Henley on the Thames Cemetary" half "The Cliffs of Moher" in Ireland near her ancestry "The O'Brien Castle " a beautiful quiet spot for Dusty....R.I.P. Born in 50ty glad to be part of the best 60tys'..

  • one of the greatest singers of the twentieth century

  • God she was beautiful.

  • mothers favorite song , classic 60s .at least they sang back then ,not like the crap today

  • @will012467

Well said. Plus you can hear all the instruments.

  • Bring back the sixties please miss the music

    lindsay

  • Bring back the sixties please

  • from the hart so wanderfull for all generations

  • stunning pure class x

  • ian@yorkshire excelent thanks

  • Interestingly Dusty thought Cilla's version of this was best but her depth in this was great sound for the song and the arrangement but then Gene Pitney and Dusty both had great versions of 24 hrs in Tulsa... Dusty never sang a song that wasn't good and although not credited for having done many there are an awfull lot of them... And aren't we so lucky she did love music and getting the song the way she wanted before releasing it. Breakfast in Bed should have been a hit for her...

  • sorry Sama69 - you are so wrong. Burt Bacharach worked with BOTH Dionne Warwick AND Dusty!!!!

Dionne's versions were released in the USA and Dusty's in the UK. You are sadly, sadly, sadly mistaken - by far Dionne's were the bigger MONSTER hits. Both are uncompromisingly fine artists. Dusty truly truly loved Rhythm & Blues and her career work testifies to the fact - her special light is UNDIMINISHED by time.

  • Dusty's and Celia's versions of this song were direct examples of what black artists went through in the 50's and 60's in the recording industry.

Artists of colour -little Richard, Big momma Thorton et al had theri songs covered by the likes of Pat Boone Elvis et al... because of the racial disparity . The songs used the exact same arrangements, phrasing and the like. Many to this day often believe the white artists were originals They were not.

  • @KuroInuSama69 1/2 Generally true but not entirely fair in Dusty's case. Yes, she covered black soul artists like Dionne, Babe Washington etc. but she always gave them full credit and championed the 'Motown sound' in the UK. It was her idea to host a Ready, Steady, Go special dedicated to Motown acts which helped introduce Stevie Wonder, Martha Reeves & the Vandellas, the Temptations, the Supremes and others to British audiences, who went on to have huge success here...

  • @KuroInuSama69 2/2 Dusty was also the first British artist to challenge apartheid on her tour of South Africa in '64 by having a clause written into her contract stipulating that she would not play to segregated audiences, for which she was deported by the South African authorities. Last point: Dusty never released Anyone Who Had a Heart as a single, just as an album track, and Bacharach wrote the Look of Love specifically for her.

  • @Nicklas4500 all that you say has a ring of truth to it, Just the way Elvis himself (not "The General" who managed him and demanded writing credit on anything Elvis recorded- regardless as to whether he wrote it or not) actually acknowledged artist like fats Domino, big mama Thornton and Little Richard, however, the fact remains that it was the practice at the time to have any song that was a hit by a black artist, re recorded by a white one to gain greater audience / market share [c]

  • Comment removed

  • @Nicklas4500 [c] this often had the effect of burying the original artists. This was not the case of Dionne of course, but even Dionne could have been a bigger star if the practice did not exist. Also a great example of the revers never happening was "The look of love" Yes Burt and Hal wrote it - It actually was not specifically for Dusty to sing. It was written as an instrumental interlude for The 1967 version of "Casino Royale" - The sppof version of the popular Bond /007 series [c]

  • @Nicklas4500 [c] It was Hal David added lyrics to the melody after seeing Ursula Andres ( the original Bond Girl in a rough cut of the film. Dionne didn't cover the some until almost 12 years later, and she began covering it at concerts, It made it onto a concert album released by her label and it was never a hit for her. however, Dionne's "songs" were hits for anyone who sang them . I'm just saying. [e]

  • Dusty on top of the world!

  • Great interpretation of a great song. I love Dusty's style.

  • OMG...I got goosebumps hearing this sound! Love her songs.

  • i love the rest of the 70s,80s,and even 90s but no decades were as beautiful as the 1940s,1950s,1960s,and early 1970s. this song performance is only one example of many performances by many different singers and groups that cannot be numbered during this period.

  • Original was recorded by Dionne Warwick - it's a Burt Bacharach song - however it was published by Cilla Black before Dionne's label could get it out - and then covered by Dusty later in the year. Caused a lot of friction apparently - some of this seems to persist.. The comments on the DW video say Cilla remained relatively unknown. - yeah right ! I like all three versions.

  • total bliss, beyonce, mariah carey etc learn how to deliver vocals with heart and soul rather than a squeel or shout. Dusty shines on as a genius icon who should and will inspire future talent (all x factor competitors excluded!) to any female wanting to make it in music don't sing big and loud sing from the heart !!!

  • @altv1969 This woman was a FIERCE Soul Singer! Met her in the 70's and she was so kind, and generous to me, a young girl group singer ( FTH) who worshiped the sound that came forth from her!!

  • Is Dusty the original singer?....I am not sure, I always thought it was Dionne Warwick? Or am I wrong?

  • @aereda01

You are correct, Dionne Warwick sang the original version.

I love this version, Dusty has such a haunting voice.

Still remember hearing this when it first came out; I was 4.

  • Simply wonderfull!

  • As great as Dionne Warwick was, no one covered Bacharach songs better than Dusty did....what a voice.

  • @Steve915 yes I agree ...I just even realized about it

  • Thank you for this! And I wondered why Dionne Warwick's version didn't sound the way I remembered it! That's because it was Dusty Springfield's version that I liked best, and I didn't even realize it until just now!

    You made me very happy!!!

  • I love Dusty with her dusty voice

  • story of my life at the moment, torn apart by saying goodbey and hello again;-(

  • SHE HAS THE VOICE OF AN ANGEL

  • Dusty was one of the greatest pop singers of all time - no question on that. Cilla wasn't - no question - so I'm not biased!!! But on this one occasion I have to say Cilla's was THE VERSION ok, and will always be the version for all my generation brought up in the era of when it was released.

    Neil

  • great version, sounds like s Dusty song

  • I love Dionnes version(the original) but this one is nice as well.

  • When I think of this song. The first singer that comes to mind is Dusty.

  • There was only one Dusty Springfield. Her soul is beyond compare, I love Dusty for the notes she leaves out on purpose...just keeping you always on the edge wanting more and more when it's over...

  • My favourite female singer of all time.

Her voice just sends tingles down my spine.

    The tone...just beautiful.

  • @stevenjackson1958

Sheer brilliance !! the very best of all time.

  • Perfection! No wonder Burt Bacharach called Dusty his favorite interpreter of his songs.

  • @trschaefer Hmmmm, thought that was Dionne Warwick since Bacharach produced well over 100 tunes for her. Wonder when Burt said that?

  • @trschaefer That's funny- I saw him say the same thing about Dionne.

  • fantastic , just adore Dusty's voice ..

  • I LOVE this song & this is a wonderful version of it. Fabulous....so soulful! Miss you Dusty!

  • like i say always x

  • @greeneaglez34 oh yes, well in top 5, and very underateed in the music world.

  • till we meet again rip my love X

  • @greeneaglez34 ......Wroooooong.......THE TOP FEMALE VOCALIST, MOST SPINE TINGLING ARTIST, MUSICAL TALENT OF ALL TIME!!!

  • This is simply gorgeous...

  • God Damn!!! That woman can make me cry so much!!

  • Heavens to Murgatroid! THANKS so much for posting this DYNAMITE version of one of my favorite songs from the 60's. The late great Dusty gives us another one of her superlative performances. What a unique talent...and how sad she's no longer with us. You've MADE my day & my weekend! :)

  • OMGDS !

  • Her voice does have me convinced that she's experienced this. So many singers sound so fake (ex. Carole King). Dusty is my girl.

  • i adore singers like her

  • the 50s and 60...Amazing <3

  • This beautiful song was also recorded in Italian by Petula Clark (yes, she sang in Italian and very well) and by Mina, a wonderful singer of the '60s.

Search YouTube for - tutti quelli che hanno un cuore

  • @greeneaglez34 there is another version... Mina's (quelli che hanno un cuore). not to everybody's taste, but mina's singing is stellar, as usual!!

  • @sgarpia .....Thanks.....I agree, she has similar emotion and vocal range

  • love this song!!! love that voice!!!

  • WOW THANKS....One of the Best Ever...

  • Love this! Thanks for posting

  • makes me think of viet nam...

  • Ronstadt did a version of this as well, but it's got more power.

  • Greatest song of the era. Dusty's version surpasses all others.

  • Sensational! Thanks for posting this.

  • Also check out Luther Vandross and Elton John with Luther Vandross.

  • i think dusty does the best with this song

  • beautiful beautiful video, can anyone tell me how to convert this to keep it in my ipod?

  • my favorite version of this song, by my favorite singer! Miss you Dusty!

  • I hear this song and I feel....cold chills and deep sympathy.

It's simply an amazing and powerful song.

    Always will be.

  • Still the greatest.

  • Voice of an Angel! thanks for this wondefull post!

  • I love this song :)

  • I really love this song.

    5*****

  • I love the original with Dionne Warwick and I like Cilla's version but Dusty's voice is so pretty.

  • She sings from the soul. One of my all time fav. artist.

  • No, is not the best!!?

I like exclusive the original- version von Dusty Springfield, it's ever unforgettable!

  • This is the best version from "Anyone who had a heart" with Dusty! Other versions from Dionne or Cilla, you can forget it!

  • Thanks for the beautiful photos, too, as well as the song. As I said on another post about Dusty, her sound makes you feel good! Gone too soon, and I miss her still.

She gives you your 'quarter's worth', so to speak, because she didn't cut off choppy phrased, but delivered full through the notes.

  • flybreath - thats the whole point of life delivering up unpleasant individuals to us, so that next time around we recognise them. lol Dusty found long-lasting love eventualy.

  • Thanks flybreath for sharing - One of my FAVES by her. Just love the line "You couldn't really have a heart and hurt me" - those with a heart of stone seem to manage quite easily. Wonderful Moving Words. Great Post.

  • Rest in peace my darling Dusty, miss you much!

  • Cilla, Lulu, Timi - all great, but IMHO, Dusty remains the greatest female white soul singer of all time. When is that biopic coming out, anyway?

  • Thanks for this posting - her version of this song has to be the best.

She has put so much feeling to it.

  • I love Dusty and didn't know she did this song.....no wonder Luther recorded this!!! Cause if Dusty did it.....must be good!

  • a truely amazing women thank you for the pleasure of your songs

  • Excellent video. The sound is great.

  • love this song and love dusty thanks for sharing becky x

  • great song

  • Lovely version. I just miss you Dusty...what else there to say. You were a rascal with class! Be at peace on the other side darlin'.

  • Miłe dla ucha. I ...

  • Love this version and this voice so huge...

    SIMPLY RESPECT

  • What a voice!!!

First time i heard this :)

    Sooo much better than Cilla!

  • Her voice is haunting in this song, gives me goosebumps. Thank you for posting this.

  • no one can compare to you Dusty.....sigh.....wish you were still here. love & miss ya lots!!

  • njezan......she lived here for YEARS...xxx

  • Hey DarlingYouSentme,

yes,I know that the song was first recorded by Dionne, and I like it, but Dusty's version surprised me a lo.Until YOU TUBE, I never knew she was such a versitale singer. The more I listen to her songs on You Tube, the more I like her. Her voice is more elastic and clearer than Dionne's. Had she lived in US and had she behind her Burt or H-D-H, she would had had much more hits and at least 10 Nr. ones.

  • njezan1 "The more I listen to her songs on You Tube ,the more I like her"....words of truth. Amen

  • thanks kickassfan for your support. What amazes me about Dusty is not only her voice, but the choice of her material ( perfect) and her sheer versatility. She could belt the ballads, sing fast songs, r&b, you name it.

  • You're on the right track. I maintain Dusty's management was responsible for her not maintaining her visibility later in her career. She was huge in the early 60s, make no mistake, but she was THE premiere female vocalist of the 60s and beyond and should have been recognized as such. I think she is just beginning to get her due. And she never [played the big rock venues, concert halls, or festivals. She could have opened for The Beatles at Shea-many possibilities.

    Miss you Dusty!!

  • An incredible voice. Perfect phrasing. She was so talented.

  • What a sweet voice, makes my heart young again.

  • By far the best version of Burt Bacharach classic. By the way, in Croatia in the sixties, this classic was covered by the female singer Ana Stefok.

  • Its beautiful.

  • What a voice!!!

  • benmart5 you are right ....What a voice!!....very well said thanks 4 loving her as I do

  • So many beautiful songs!! Hollywood should make a movie about this unforgettable talent!!

  • Hi benmart5, to make a movie about Dusty is a great Idea. Here In Australia, a succesful TV series was produced chronicling her life. One unfortunate part of Dusty's life was that she did not receive the critical acclaim in the US that she sought. I've just come back to this message after taking a few minutes to read about her life. Wow you're right, Hollywood should make a movie. I wonder whether you realize the implications of your suggestion. Google Forgotten Hits The Dusty Springfield story.

  • one of those songs that seems like composed for "you"...

  • "Sout" is a state of mind, not color. Who cares what color someone is? I certainly don't. I love Dusty's voice.

  • Dusty is not that popular here in the states, but most do know her songs. Everyone (including myself) is always surprised to find out she's not black. She proved that soul is not reserved for just black folk.

  • Deep Joy. Luv Dusty, what a gel...

  • Such a beautiful voice, Dusty was and always will be the best

  • The words are sooo deep ... "What am I to do" ... so sweet.

Dusty's way is the BEST! ... Amazing voice ... Love it :) ... Tks. from Budapest

  • Whenever Dusty Springfield sang a song I knew that it would be the best...the very best...As a teenager, listening to her...she helped me understand feelings that i had about me and love. Thank you Dusty!

  • The only other comparison would Dionne Warwick...who wrote this song???

  • Burt Bachrach composed it.

  • Hal David wrote the lyrics.

  • That's right! Thank you, I had forgotten...Dionne was their muse. They were like Elton John and Bernie Taupin, in a way.

  • Absolutely love this version. Nuff said....no comparison necessary. RIP Dusty

  • Dusty's version of this fine song is sooo great! A bit more dramatic than Cilla's version. I'm a fan of both gals, but Dusty's version takes me to places Cilla's doesn't.

  • @nostalgiahistoria67 .......touche!!

  • @nostalgiahistoria67........you've hit the nail on the head. Thats simply what Dusty does - she makes EVERY song she covers more dramatic, more emotional, more soulful and spinetingling than the other artists doing that cover!
