NBA Celtic Player Reggie Lewis died of the same heart condition back in 1993. Hakeem Olajuwon of the Houston Rockets retired because of it, i have the same ailment as well. It kept me away from the sport that has been part of the better half of my life. My sincere condolence to the family and the folks of Fennville. R.I.P. Wes.

This is such a tragedy. I believe the flu caused myocarditis, which resulted in his heart condition. There's no other explanation, because someone who participates in that much physical activity pretty much everyday should have noticed an underlying heart condition, specifically one as serious as dilated cardiomyopathy. It just doesn't seem like something that's been there for a long time.
