oh and don't get me wrong I'm not a Kantian but if I had the choice between being called a Kantian and being called an idiot, I think I'd take the former any day of the week.
w/e I don't care about that. I just find it interesting how you label objectivists idiots without giving any concrete examples, or reasons. Very convincing....
I don't have it yet, but in the future I will have a teaser video of my introduction to Immanuel Kant's philosophy. But if Paul McKeever comes out with his first, I will not release mine. Stay tuned...
I'm looking forward to you finding the time to produce this video. I see this argument as the very heart of the debate against socialism. A succinct refutation of Kant is something that every Objectivist needs to have in their hip pocket.
I have been over the text a number of times and while I grasp the overall theme, I can't seem to piece it all together. Though genuis, Kant is shifty and wordy.
Where the hell is the summary? - or are you a bit overwhelmed by the task? Check out my page, i have a 'teaser trailer' to my upcoming video's on Kant's epistemology - and am also realizing how damn hard it is to condense him. . .
I don't like randian views. I would subscribe to by far more to rothbrand. It seem my libertarianism is hardcore rothbrandian without knowing who rothbrand is. amazing.....
kant had an interesting conception of freedom. what it would become, however, would be the exact oposite of freedom. people would be fallowing the categorical imperative in order to protect what he would call freedom but really ends up being nothing. so we'd be doing our duty for duty's sake. he does take one step in the right direction, though. he manages to disasociate "freedom" from "individualism". i think the most accurate decendant of that train of thought is bakunin.
Are you capable of having your own philosophy independent of Ayn Rand? Kant is a very difficult read and a philsosphy that is hard to explain via sound bite.
I got interested in MUCH more interesting things (and work/family commitments increased...my video production has lessened of late). I still hope to follow through with this one in bits and pieces over time.
With regard to Kant's propositions regarding the subjectivity of (three-dimensional) space and (linear time), it actually makes sense to me, especially when these two supposed "physical" properties are confronted by the concept of infinity and, subsequently, end up being very inadequate.
I cannot believe we are talking about diffusing Kantian Bombs and no one has mentioned the true one-man bombsquad who wrote Twilight of the Idols. In 150 pages FN defuses both Socrates, Kant, and Christianity.
After reading Rand for so long, and after completely accepting reason as an absolute, I'm not sure I could stomach that book. Wouldn't I be wasting my time? Shouldn't we focus on reading books by intelligent authors. I can tell by this video that you have absolutely no doubt that you'll be able to disprove his arguments, so why bother?
As Rand said, his ideas are designed to destroy man's mind, but once the trick in his bomb is exposed, it can be diffused with ease. With that will fall all of the lesser Kantians (what she called his buck privates), whose respective philosophies are founded on his.
Your final comment brings a smile to my face. I once pondered whether one is sacrificing oneself to work so hard to say so much to so many, removing disguises from arguments that so many refuse to see as bare.
Were I to compare Atlas Shrugged to any child's book, I would most certainly have to say: The Emperor's New Clothes. Only the child refused to fake reality and sanction evil.
"Dagny, all three of us are in love" - she jerked her head at him - "with the same thing, no matter what its forms. Don't wonder why you feel no breach between us. You'll be one of us, so long as you'll remain in love with your rails and engines (lifework) -and they'll lead you back to us, no matter how many times you lose your way. The only man never to be redeemed is the man without passion." (Fd'A:DT&JG\AS\AR)
That whole Emperor/parade/child thing? Well, there are now those of us that won't even sanction the 'parade' by walking away from it altogether; we're building elsewhere. So now this statement has a proper, practical context:
"The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it."
for why you take your position* type-o

Kant and Rand, only one is a philosopher and he wasn't born in Russia.

So, when are you planning on getting started on this project? 2015?

At the present rate: 2020. Sorry. I haven't had the time to make a new vid at all in the last month and a half.

Wrong according to Rands philosophy or yours?

De-fuse the Kantian bomb yes,
but don't forget the one that dictated the chemical components: Socrates.
and the one that wrote out the mind-blowing formula: Plato
When you're pulling out weeds, get to the root...otherwise...
*Ideally though: save your valuable mind for the Valuers & let the looter's code run for once its undisguised course*
