this wreck happened in appling county, it was gsp 782 . he went to pit a car and the driver hit the brakes and pitted him he went in a ditch and rolled end over end. the trooper is a friend of mine from tattnall county worke out of post 18
I'm just going to clarify something. When you say you want to be a GSP, that's not right. GSP (Georgia State Patrol) is the agency, Trooper is the title. If you're going to be a Trooper you need to think like a Trooper. Betta get yo' mind right!!
i am a volunteer fireman.. a fire clown... on the fire department honor guard.. and a trooper... i have pulled people out of fires, delivered a baby, done CPR on numerous people young and old. i have one such person we helped in a bad crash going to the capital for an award this year. i have pitted 2 cars and one was over 100 mph. i have never had a crash. we are all out here to do a job and help people when we can.
2204Alpha, when cadets grad from trooper school they are lucky to get a car that has under 100k miles on it. There has never been a class graduate with new cars or cars with low miles on it but other than that... thanks for supporting troopers!!!
"ew, ew..how many people wanna bet me he was responding to a wreck scene..."You know how we tell whose going to be a firefighter or a cop in GA? Well...they dig a deep pit, and lay a ladder in the bottom of it...those who can raise the ladder and safely exit the pit...they become firefighters!
Are you from GA? Are you a public servant? I'm sorry someone died, but I have seen Ga State Troopers responding (@ 100 MPH+) to get to a wreck scene, they do nothing at but take out their little can of spray paint, and mark the position of the vehicle involved in the wreck. Is that a true emergency? How is it ok for a law enforcement officer to endanger people's lives like that? Not too long ago...a law enforcement officer in my town, killed a civilian in a high speed pursuit!
I do live in the real world, I've been to plenty of wreck scenes, I have yet to see a trooper do a damn thing! One of my police officer friends clocked a trooper doing 100+MPH in the city limits (the city limit). Heaven forbid a kid or someone step out on the hwy. Unless your a firefighter, EMT, or law enforcement that has personally seen a trooper rescue someone from a wreck, you're argument doesn't mean shit to me! Do you even know what the phrase "Due Regard" means? Look it up!
Generally speaking, you usually don't get to choose what kind of car you get when you first start at an agency. You will most likely get some old piece of crap for your first patrol car. Later on, when you gain rank and experience, you can sometimes request what kind of car you want (slicktop or not, etc.). At least that's the case with FHP.
Nobody plans on totaling their car, but you will most likely get into an accident sooner or later; it happens to the best of us. lol
Thanks man I'm definally looking foward to being a Cop but I'm getting a Bachelors first then going to the accadmy and work as a Deputy first then later on when i have some experience here in smalltown jeff davis enter the GSP
Good thing we arent talking about FHP, this is GA. after passing FTO most troopers get a car less than 2 years old. The last academy class, half the class had brand new cars, the other half had cars with less than 40k on them
FHP has said they aren't buying ANY new cars at all in 2010.
We'll see how long that lasts, but it's a dumb move if you ask me. Now they're just going to be paying out the ass for a ton of new ones as soon as troopers start having to park theirs for too many miles and they all need new cars. So instead of buying a few batches here or there, they're going to prolong the inevitable and end up needing to buy a shit ton all at once. Brilliant.
you think people posting online represents the troopers GSP hires? try going before the many hiring boards bro, out of the hundreds that apply only a few are chosen, and less graduate
from what i have heard from a friend who works as a deputy in Dooly co. , and a retired GSP.. the chargers won't be around, or at least they won't be buying them much anymore... yeah they look cool and are a good bit quicker than the crown vics.. but they crumble in wrecks compared to the vics believe it or not lol
@burleson89 Oh well I got to look in a Slicktop Charger that was Silver in douglas the other day at a Verizon store and he let me turn the lights and all that good stuff on but he said they might get Camaros
Was he ok??? @civiccruiser you go watch some damn tv.

@whitebub
Because the only sensors on that crown vic are across the front frame rail and 2 of those have to be activated for the bag to deploy.

you seem to leave out the hundreds rescued from wrecks, given CPR, and medical aid by troopers every year dumbass.
how many wrecks happen at the scene of a crash due to lack of traffic control?
keep your wanna be comments to your self untill you step into the real world
