And once this come, the fear of it will make us get arrested by those very people (the traffic-cop, contractor, etc.) whom we offer the bribe. As they won't take any chance wondering 'Whether this is a sting operation?' Cause they will prefer their salary and a permanent job over being put in jail for life, which is non-existent under current law.

What the hell do the think is a democracy ? Just to vote in or vote out some politician or party every five years and handover all our rights to the govt and keep mum till the next election. The government that came to power with Gandhi's principle are the ones who detest his method of protest when it threatens their own power. The moral of the story is any institution of power would do anything (lie and cause human rights abuses) to retain its power. Democracy is an excuse to exercise power in the hands of few from monarchy to oligarchy. Take America for example even when there were widespread protests for Vietnam War the Govt. continued to massacre Vietnam and lie.

Neither Lok Pal nor Anna can eradicate corruption from this country. Only we as individual citizens can remove corruption by taking responsibility for our actions.
In little ways, you all promote corruption:
When you offer a bribe to a traffic cop
When you pay someone to let you jump a queue
When you bribe an officer to get a contract
The crores of Indian who are supporting Anna right now, will they not misuse their power if they become a minister or bureaucrat one day?

@G12F12 You are correct, we citizens will have to remove corruption. What Jan LokPal of Anna gives us is a tool, which has been non-existent till now. And once this come, the fear of it will make us get arrested by those very people (the traffic-cop, contractor, etc.) whom we offer the bribe. As they won't take any chance wondering 'Whether this is a sting operation?' Cause they will prefer their salary and a permanent job over being put in jail for life, which is non-existent under current law.

Since our netas (elected by public) can turn corrupt, our bureaucrats (who come through tough exams like IAS) can be corrupt, what if Lokpals became corrupt, with so much power, they can do a lot more damage than the current netas and babus.

2. Okay so the punishment in KSA is public flogging, so cutting hands/ hanging them is more severe - again worse!

I dont have a great alternate, but I wont follow Annas lokpal bill just for lack of a better option. The only option is one of overhauling our own moral values, a process which will take more than one generation of cleansing. Corruption is no disease that you pop a lokpal pill and its gone.

The best thing I like about Anna Hazare is his intelligence. He knew he is going to be arrested and created the video as if he is creating after being arrested.
He is the one who can really make the difference.
He knows if all Indians come together then only it can make any difference.
Same concept that Gandhi used to stop everything to boycott britishers.. Non-violence and non-cooperation. If we stop then even government cant run.. it wont have anything to run :).. but its for a good cause..
