  • loved joni for years. very romantic and amazing lyrics. untill i was put off by hissing of summer lawns? she had more than enough great music didn't have to listen to any new, abstract stuff.

  • One of my 10 favourite albums ever made! But only my 3rd favourite Joni Mitchell album! She is the best singer/songwriter and best recording artist there has ever been.

  • wonderful time in my life. Thank you Joni Mitchell

  • She tapes her regrets to the microphone stand. I mean, I mean... what can you say?

  • black ken doll you post everything i wish i could. thank you again for your effort. it is GREATLY appreciated!

  • I know I'm in the minority, but For the Roses is my Favorite Joni album.

  • @stanpnepa It's a bigger minori ty than you think. It's mine too, the first Joni album I ever bought. I was 16 and I'm 53 now. Still one of my favourite albums of all time.

  • @23071957jazzman When I'm 53, there is no doubt that I'll still be agreeing with you.

  • The song doesn't seem to have any kind of structure like verse and chorus. It's great.

  • @Nezmundo00 yah, her melodies seem to be plucked from the realm of perfection.

  • Hands down, finest composer of 20th century.

  • Damn-just a piano and her beautiful voice and back up vocals. : )

  • "trouble to keep 'em."

    she's been there.......

  • This album is so melodic and I love how there are just brushstrokes of instruments.

  • You can't hold the hand of a rock and roll man very long...

I love this entire album and I adore this song.

  • do you look like Buffy?I doubt it-just as i doubt Joni 'sounds' like Buffy Saint Marie....do you under-stand?

  • I think I like Okkervil River's cover more, but then again, I'm not used to her voice.

  • Stephen Stills' electric guitar is what you hear at the end of this number.

  • my old gf said: "I'm not gonna be the 'blond in the stands'. Never will I orget it ;never will I forget her - or this music.

  • I love the Karen Carpenter sound alike on

    "microphone stand",then the KC drums

    kick in.

"Judgment of the Moon and the Stars" is

    the masterpiece of this LP.

  • she tapes her regrets to the microphone stand, she says you can't hold the hand of a rock n roll man...for very long...

  • i'm a radio turn me on,should be on tube. version from for the roses lp. please post it again. or you'll lose huntingdogowner.

  • No-one's cadence is like Joni's, such an unusual timing, gorgeous. Still fresh after all these years, makes a welcome change from all that same same same strum you hear from singer-songwriters these days.

  • too good to waste...

  • for the roses her masterpiece every song has been my favorite but this one, oh yes

it;s the unknown child so sweet and wild, it's too good to waste..

also love how it wraps up with stephen stills guitar

  • Brings back college memories...and Carol

  • she tapes her regrets to the microphone stand, what an image.

  • My favourite piano piece of hers, along with Blue. Wonderful, wonderful song.

  • I met Joni once, she took the time to meet everyone one in the studio audience! One at a time we waited in line. She listened to what we had to say, holding our hands, gazing deep in our eyes, smiling warmly and then thanked us and hugged and kissed us on the cheek! It was a one on one moment I'll never forget and I had only just discovered her a few weeks earlier. What a blessing it was to my young depressed soul to have that loveliness, from sweet dear Joni.

  • She is a gift to the music world you are so lucky you met her !

  • Wow, not to many people that I would love to have that moment with and Joni is on top of my list. I am sure that is a memory you will treasure forever.

  • @mlesln Wow, lucky you. She never answers my cards or letters.

  • @mlesln Damn, thanks service. She is a one of a kind genuis.

  • Thank you for putting this up blackkendoll82...I love this recording...have, since I heard it over 10 years ago... So sensual and strong. She has inspired my poetry and songs and filled a part of my heart that was so empty, I doubt no one could fill that place/ void like she does. Milk to my soul, a balm to my wounds.
