Pretty sure that $15,000 wouldn't pay for three years of law school even in 1990. Maybe in a public school with in-state tuition. Certainly, today $15,000 would only cover one semester. If that. Hopefully, Joe pursued a more interesting career anyway.
14 seconds a record time for the bonus game to clear the row of 5 correct answers? What is the fastest time to answer 5 correct across, down, or diagonally without the cards excluding wrong answers or passing?
how many $10,000 winners were there during the "regular season" so to speak? were there 21 of them? or did some of the people who didn't win in the bonus round invited?
Why did they pick 21? Would'nt 27 be a better number? I say that because I am not sure how they would get 9 from 21. I would assume the seven winners would get through to the semi-finals, but what about the other 2 positions?
i second that, ANY episodes of "sports snapshot" would be greatly appreciated, from what i read in the encyclopedia of tv game shows, it sounds like an ok show.)
I have a copy of the premiere on DVD (game show tape trading). The full credits are:
"'Trump Card' is a production of Createl Ltd. and Fielder/Berlin Productions, Inc., in association with Telepictures Productions, and is distributed by Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution."
Did you hear that live, Kinravip?
And does anyone have a clean copy of the full theme?
Of course it was a long time ago, but I seem to remember that the credits were broadcast aloud to the studio audience. It make sense in a save-post-production-time-and-rexpense kinda way...
Yes, actually. It's not good to spoil the outcome for people who haven't seen the episode yet, IMHO. (Look at the numerous spoilers CraigFoye80 has posted in the comment box numerous times on many videos, and all the complaints that followed, and you'll see why you shouldn't spoil the outcome of any contest.)
Very cool...I remember liking this show as a child. I know it was gone within the season (13 weeks as you mentioned), and came out right around the time that daytime talk shows were starting to get big.
Of course, with game shows being popular again, this could probably be a little more successful today...
There's this rumor going around on the "Trump Card" Wikipedia page that this show was distributed by Warner Bros. Television. Since the credits are cut off on this one, I'll have to take your word on it.
They did indeed...it actually lasted a full season (though many stations, including WCBS here in NY, bumped it to ON in mid-season, so it'd be understandable to think it was cancelled then).

Did you win the tournament of champions for $100,000?

IIRC, channel 45 (when it was a Fox affiliate) aired the show in Winston-Salem, NC. Now, it's WXLV-TV, ABC 45.

If you would of won, you should invest your money on Enron stocks. They're doing well to this day.

Someone should pitch this. No one in TV remembers this. You might have something here. I could pitch it like Bob's Full House.

Interesting, had never seen the show before. Am I the only one who could see Jimmy replacing Alex on Jeopardy if he was still capable?
ajk 3 years ago
Awsome show. I saw it a few times when I was young. The majority of the questions were so easy. I matched Joe's knowledge in the Bonus Round.
Again, great show. They should play that on GSN.

Jimmy Cefalo, grew up in my hometown of Pittston, PA.

Far more than 21 of them. IIRC, they took the 20 winners who won $15250, and 1 who won $14500 (probably based on time).

Thanks. I'd probably assume that Telepictures was part of Warner Bros. by then.

From the closing credits:
"'Trump Card' is a production of Createl Ltd. and Fiedler/Berlin Productions, Inc., in association with Telepictures Productions, and--"
That's where the show cuts out and a commercial starts. Sorry. The distributor was chopped off by the network that day.
