thts because Tim Burton is awesome !! he made all scenes in the "underworld" look colorful and animated, while the "living world" is kinda boring and in black and white!! it kinda tells dead people have more fun XD !!

Actually, most of the "living world" was done in different shades of pale blue, while the underworld was something of a jazzy nightclub with more colours than a saturday morning cartoon.

Tim Burton has an odd like for dead subjects but he makes it look colorful and not scary at all. That's one thing that makes me love this movies, the other one is because the movies are sometimes musicals with sticky songs.
