Actually, the second amendment was designed to forbid the FEDERAL government from restricting firearms ownership. Nothing was done to forbid the STATE governments from restricting firearms ownership (which they have done from day one).
Local jurisdictions aren't restricted by the 2nd Amendment either. In the mid to late 1800's, many towns in the American west made it illegal to carry pistols inside the town limits, and I don't recall anybody complaining back then about it being unconstitutional.

So they can make gun laws to ban some firearms, make it harder to aquire one. but they cannot make it impossible or illegal to obtain a firearm, as long as the citizen doesnt have a record, or mental illness. here in New York it's downright pain-in-the-ass to get one for civilians and for business owners as well!! it's takes 6months to get the paperwork thru, God forbid u miss a question on the application and u'd have to start the entire process all over again, it's just such a hassle that they prob make it that way so the civilian gives up on gettting the permit, u just have to stick to ur "guns" so to speak and cut thru the red tape to get the right to own a gun, ridiculous!!
Wow glad I live in Canada there is no limit to the amount of guns we can own or how fast we can buy them. Handguns can only go to and from a range, and they have to be locked in a case, with a trigger lock on the trigger.
We have not been able to carry handguns since 1934 or 1938. We for the most part do not need to in Canada. Although I am starting to wonder in the bigger cities. Biggest country in the world with the population of California, you do the math. We can still carry rifles and shotguns, just not pistols. What are pistols good for concealing, and shooting people. Dont get me wrong if I would have 2 pistols with me if I lived in the states depends on the city.

Buying handguns in bulk means that people in gangs who have no criminal record buy guns for the ones who do. It's to try to keep the violence down. Just wait the 30 days and enjoy the gun you have.

All the guy has to do is go to a gunshow, fork over some UNTRACEABLE cash, and he's got his murder weapon in less than one hour. Hey Gunny, I'll tell you why they made that new handgun per month in Cali. Because about 20 years ago, there was a major bank robbery and it was huge, 2 guys come with AK47s and start spraying the place, 20 cops come with only hand guns, 1 gets shot in the leg and loses a bunch of blood, a few get killed, they call the SWAT team and the SWAT team takes care of it, that's why, they're afraid of that happening again.
A few cops got shot, one of them, who had a severe amount of blood loss, almost died/ almost passed out but they got him to safety in time, but one of the bank robbers either killed himself on purpose or on accident because his AK47 jammed and he didn't know how to clear it, so he took out a hand gun, pointed it at his chin and either purposely or accidentally fired, then the SWAT team took out the other guy.
One the only people who died in the north Hollywood robbery were the two suspects. one either killed himself or accidentally shot himself when he was shot while trying to reload one handed. The other suspect was disarmed and taken into custody. Though due to the fact that the area as still considered a hot zone the ambulance wouldn't come in due to the possibility of a third suspect. So he bled out while they spent close to 12 hours looking for a third suspect.
and on top of what these guys said the ak47s were smugled across the border from mexico and if youll remember it was civilian legal AR-15s that the cops ended that fight with im sure a lot more people would have been hurt or killed had it not been for the civilian legal semi-auto AR-15 rifles

usa total crimes.....11.9 million out of 310 + population ............3.8 %
england total crimes...... 6.5 million out of 61.8 million .......... 10.5 %

here in New York it's downright pain-in-the-ass to get one for civilians and for business owners as well!! it's takes 6months to get the paperwork thru, God forbid u miss a question on the application and u'd have to start the entire process all over again, it's just such a hassle that they prob make it that way so the civilian gives up on gettting the permit, u just have to stick to ur "guns" so to speak and cut thru the red tape to get the right to own a gun, ridiculous!!

Wow glad I live in Canada there is no limit to the amount of guns we can own or how fast we can buy them. Handguns can only go to and from a range, and they have to be locked in a case, with a trigger lock on the trigger.

We have not been able to carry handguns since 1934 or 1938. We for the most part do not need to in Canada. Although I am starting to wonder in the bigger cities. Biggest country in the world with the population of California, you do the math. We can still carry rifles and shotguns, just not pistols. What are pistols good for concealing, and shooting people. Dont get me wrong if I would have 2 pistols with me if I lived in the states depends on the city.

I don't understand magazine limitations either, cause if a bad guy is going to do something crazy and he has only a 10 round clip, he's just going to bring two extra 10 rounds clips to the scene. I have carried a handgun "on the job" every day for 29 years and I personally own about a dozen pistols and 12 to 15 rifles and shotguns. I STILL have to go through the waiting period, even when I show my permit AND am carrying! Why?

Doc's got a good point. Those that bitch about gun control will be the first ones to beg for help when reality comes knocking. Also, the 15 day rule (or any waiting period) is pretty stupid. All the guy has to do is go to a gunshow, fork over some UNTRACEABLE cash, and he's got his murder weapon in less than one hour. All these laws do is hinder the honest citizens seeking protection, because the criminals will just obtain their firearms illegally anyway, and thus are not stopped by these laws.

i can see one logic if you can consider this logic...impulsiveness...i mean, if there was a waiting period, the guy has 15 days to think about what he is going to commit...but being someone who lives in CA and is "responsible" when dealing with firearms...i have to say the CA gun laws are binding. The laws hurt the responsible citizen and doesn't really do anything to prevent stop criminals because they can get their gun through illegal means much faster than I ever could.

Hey Gunny, I'll tell you why they made that new handgun per month in Cali. Because about 20 years ago, there was a major bank robbery and it was huge, 2 guys come with AK47s and start spraying the place, 20 cops come with only hand guns, 1 gets shot in the leg and loses a bunch of blood, a few get killed, they call the SWAT team and the SWAT team takes care of it, that's why, they're afraid of that happening again.

A few cops got shot, one of them, who had a severe amount of blood loss, almost died/ almost passed out but they got him to safety in time, but one of the bank robbers either killed himself on purpose or on accident because his AK47 jammed and he didn't know how to clear it, so he took out a hand gun, pointed it at his chin and either purposely or accidentally fired, then the SWAT team took out the other guy.

One the only people who died in the north Hollywood robbery were the two suspects. one either killed himself or accidentally shot himself when he was shot while trying to reload one handed. The other suspect was disarmed and taken into custody. Though due to the fact that the area as still considered a hot zone the ambulance wouldn't come in due to the possibility of a third suspect. So he bled out while they spent close to 12 hours looking for a third suspect.
