  • When I was a kid way back in 1984 or 1985 (most likely 1984) they performed "Only When You Leave" and as an avid soul music fan I was appalled because that's straight-up "pop" on my "Soul Train"! Since then my musical tastes have changed especially after living in England for three years.

  • I remember when Soul Train took a slight detour by booking White artists who weren't exactly soulful. Not counting Teena Marie or David Bowie who made R&B-influenced songs.. I mean they had The Fixx and some other New Wave acts. Chant No.1 would have been a better song to perform...this sounds like a jingle.
