Wow...I've never heard him sing it quite like this. I mean, he sounds incredible on that entire second verse to the end (he sounded great already - I'm talking about the melodic variations he chose)...extremely soulful for a live performance of that song. It MIGHT be one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard.

@drahcirdier i had to sit at the piano and play if for a bit to figure out, haha. when i play, i just fill by breaking up the Cm chord and then going straight to the Eb. However, after listening closely to THIS version, I noticed he just plays a diff note all together between Cm and Eb. and, the chord is Bb with a D in the bass.

elton in this clip does say ''hoop'' insteadof hope, because of the fact that this clip was taken not long after he had extensive throut surgery, because he streched his voical cords. that is why, post 1987 performances sound different. because after the op he was praticacally given a new voice. and i surpose when he did this performance , he was just learnihng how 2 control his new voice. that is why his voice gets deeper every year.
