Gosh I love peterbilts, it's just a matter of getting one to Australia and converting it to Right hand drive, when I get one it'll definatly have to have any version of the 3406 Cat, But have a listen to the song "A Man with 18 wheels" by Lee ann Womack it's out of the Movie Black Dog (starring the late Patrick Swayze) it featured a 379 and the songs about loving a man with 18 wheels and his home away from home is in the house that Peterbilt

Great trucks but the thing that sucks is it's has s cummins motor

My dad has a 2010 386 (check out my vids) and he has a cummins motor and it gives him sooooooooo much trouble cummins is the worst

Yeah, thats why CAT is soon stopping production for commercial trucks, and why in the last few years, NOBODY is buying new trucks with cats in them.

Ok first of all, CAT is stopping production of their highway diesel engines because they are not able to meet the emission standards otherwise they would have continued. They will sell their highway diesel engine shares to Detroit Diesel and Cummins. As for your last statement, people have bought more trucks with CAT in them than any other competitor.

If Cat was the best, maybe they could build an engine actually meeting the emissions tests. I know the older generation Cats were/are great, but the new EGR engines bite the bag.

First off, CAT is the best, no question about it. Second, They are not going to make engines to meet the standards because they are way too expensive for CAT to maintain the low emission engines, I.E. like buying all of the parts needed for that low emission engine. There last engines were infact the greatest they ever produced!

Yeah, low emission engines don't really have the kick the older engines did. Infact, more people bought CAT equipped trucks because of that mere fact. CAT always did have higher emission engines than the other competitors because they produce more torque and take less to maintain. And now finally, the U.S. government made the emission laws more strict causing CAT to finally throw in the towel.

yea the older cat A and B models were easy to turn the fuel to same as the cummins 400 its a plug on the pump take it out n weld a nail to it and put it back in tight then climb up into the seat sit down, shut up, and haul ass. lol to me cat is way overrated ile stick with my detroit 8v91 anyday

@TheAzianPersuazian best ever huh? tell that to the guys with thte twin turbo Acerts from around 2005. they quit making truck engines because they couldn't meet the Emission standards it took them until 2007 to meet the 2005 standards. Cat's were great motors before they went all computerized.

the cummins motors are fine in themself its just when they are put into the iveco platform. i havnt had anything to do with the newer ivecos as we dont have any at my company and we never will after the rubbish that the first ones were. the ones we have have the same driveline as the kenworths we have so there is no issue there, they are excellent. its just the trucks that are rubbish.
