I am really impressed by this movie. Although I don't believe in Jesus as a God, but as a Prophet, a messenger from God. I do feel that this movie pinpoints a problem in today's society of not loving God and realizing how much He has done for us. I feel that religious people are looked down upon and when a person begins to say God says this or God says that, people shut their ears. May God guide us all to what is right and forgive us of our sins. The father is a wise man :)
@javariahaleem Seeing as though you believe in a loving God, in sin, and in absolute right and wrong - may I ask why you don't believe Jesus is God incarnate?
@ceaharps there are some faiths that don't believe in the trinity. but the only one i've seen so far is Jehovah's Witnesses, but I'm pretty sure there's alot more.
Experience throughout history shows that humanity often fails, and my own experience shows me that I too often fail...how can I have faith in failure? But God was, is, and will always be reliable. We may not understand His hows and whys of doing things, but He declares His motivation to be love. Since the earth, sun, and stars and time itself still remain, how can we say He has failed? It's not over till it's over, and my faith is in Him.
I think I'd be a little more open if I were in Catherine's position. In fact I'd be ecstatic to see my seemingly cold husband making all these deep gestures
Once again, your looking at it as a mechanism of the "god parent" rather than the god parent warning of its existence, and allowing you to make your choice. You are welcome to believe whatever you want, going back to where this started. Because, my response would be, if you are the representation of your beliefs, I'll stick with mine.
@Requiemxtoxinnocence I disagree. But, taking this back to where it began, you need to leave these people in peace. You don't come here just for discussion; you come here to badger and abuse them. While an apology would be nice, everyone would be happy if you simply stopped. I can't make you believe in God; I don't want to make you believe in God. Just treat these ppl with respect and dignity.
@reenactor19th The same people that persecute homosexuals and treat them as second class citizens? How is that respectful and dignified? I'll respect you for your different beliefs but i'd ask you to do the same to others whom you would be against. I think that is only fair.
@Requiemxtoxinnocence first, haven't you expressed the same sentiments towards these people? I've shown you respect, I have more than a few gay friends or bi friends. I vehemently disagree with the Kansas church and other militant anti-homosexual groups. But, I'm talking to you, a representative of a group that calls me a vile, ignorant creature. I'm happy you respect my beliefs, I respect yours. But you're not in so pure a position as you might wish to dictate dignity.
@reenactor19th these are the same tired arguments. You can go in on blind faith if you wish, but it does not make it so. It's best just to put this to rest and say maybe there is a god but it would also be best not to claim it to be of one particular religion. who can really claim they have divine knowledge of everything or say there god is the one true god? Even faith has limits otherwise it leads to absurdity.
@musicmintPatti Yeah, faith is nice but when it comes to questions to how our universe works it becomes unreliable. I have faith in humanity and myself, but I think uncertainty is best for subjects such as all powerful beings and the unknown. So there may be a god and there might not be, it's an unknown unknown.
the old man forgot to talk about all the killing god does and how he contradicts himself multiple times. he also endorses slavery, rape, child abuse, animal abuse, genocide, belittles women and more atrocities. god is the last thing this guy needs to help his marriage.
@Requiemxtoxinnocence Not to sound mean or anything, but if you don't like God and if you believe that this movie sucks and everything is a lie then WHY are you watching it,leaving comments like this in every part of the movie?I am just wondering.
@Kris12072010 I watched it to see if it was anything like The Room, I left comments because I can. Also I think every movie needs a critic especially when it comes to a movie such as this that has an absurd amount of unrealistic messages.
@Requiemxtoxinnocence I am not judging you about leaving comments,I am just wondering why you are wasting your time on something that you obviously don't like.I just think that you would like to use your time more wisely, but what do I know,I believe in the absurd amount of unrealistic messages in this movie.
@reenactor19th Except with Star Wars the fanatics aren't trying to destroy the legal system or educational system. There's nothing wrong with fiction nor the message it conveys, it's when people try to apply their fiction to real life that becomes a nuisance like fundamentalist christians.
@Requiemxtoxinnocence No, you said your critique was based on the "absurd amount of unrealistic messages". Which makes this a lie/contradiction. Hence the Star Wars reference of unrealistic messages. Seems like you and this god you hate should get along pretty well.
@reenactor19th There was an absurd message here, god didn't come down from the sky and help them with their marital problems which gives this movie an unrealistic message. God didn't do jack shit, it was simply human emotions that's all. Fiction is just a way to convey realistic messages through unrealistic measures but unrealistic messages shouldn't be put forth on real life examples.
@Requiemxtoxinnocence first, "emotions" are just as unrealistic as you claim God is. what you're calling emotions is an abstract word given to a complicated series of chemical reactions. And in your previous message, you said the message was okay, now - once again - your saying the message is okay only if you accept it. Sorry, but the idea of good triumphs darkness ---> you call that realistic? And yet it's a message of numerous respected films. Again, your argument falls.
@reenactor19th emotions can be studied through chemical reactions and are realistic. This god figure cannot be shown to be realistic or shown to be realistic. Good vs evil is just conflict and perspective. How is conflict between individuals not realistic? How is perspective not real?
@Requiemxtoxinnocence ah, we know they happen. but these chemical reactions haven't been shown to scientifically bond to another, alien, reaction. in other words, we know the chemical reactions happen in us. no proof that they bond w/ an outside reaction (i.e. another person), therefore "emotions" don't explain bonds between humans, only a human's reaction to stimulus. You may reject God, but your thesis of "emotions" is unfounded. Now you're talking about conflict, rather than message?
@Requiemxtoxinnocence marital discord is not a realistic conflict? Again, you're changing the parameters. You'll say, then, that the just man will always triumph the unjust man? That's a realistic message? Law and order will always be upheld? Because these are messages in countless secular films.
@reenactor19th Lastly you can't get along with something that does not exist, nor would I want to be friends with a god that condones so many horrific things and treats people as though they were nothing but sheep if it did exist.
@reenactor19th Sorry I don't ask people to worship me nor do I ask them to sacrifice animals so I can smell the scent and I haven't threatened to unleash plague upon them if they don't love me enough or threaten to send them to hell. I am not a god nor do I have a god complex.
@Requiemxtoxinnocence No, you just come into people's space and demean and abuse them for not thinking/believing the way you thing they should. Again, your argument falls.
@reenactor19th So it's perfectly rational to believe in something for which there is no proof? No viable evidence? I think you should be more skeptical.
@Requiemxtoxinnocence you don't realize the lengths i've gone with skepticism. goes back to what i've been saying. you don't actually know what you're talking about when you talk to these ppl. stop pushing your caricature of religious people onto them. there's also a secular philosophy that states perfect rationality is just another phrase for totalitarianism.
@reenactor19th Worshipping a god who accuses you of thought crime is totalitarianism. a god who watches you when you sleep and accuses you of being sinful for just being born. You're fighting against the very thing that you worship.
@Requiemxtoxinnocence if you are born a man, and I call you a man, I am not accusing you. I'm simply telling you what you are. You can believe, if you want, that you are a woman. Doesn't change the fact that you are a man, but I allow you to believe what you want. That is not totalitarianism. You, actually, are the one accusing ppl of thought crimes.
@reenactor19th God refers to people as sheep. Then he threatens them eternal punishment for going against him and acting human. He set up mankind and accuses us as though we are naturally born wrong, even though as a child you are innocent. How can you worship someone who would willfully torture you for being you and blame you for it?
@Requiemxtoxinnocence but you're torturing yourself. i can tell you there's a shotgun on the other side of the door and if you open it, you'll get shot. You can believe me, or not. But if you don't believe me, and open the door, and get shot, how am i torturing you? Likewise, if a parent tells you you've got a skewed view of reality, and that by doing something you're going to end up in trouble, if you do it anyway, how is your parent to blame?
@reenactor19th Torturing people forever is not punishment it's purely sadistic. Nothing is learned from it and it only drives people into fear. This god parent system is very flawed, if humanity has any dignity for itself it would overcome it's problems without the help of a homicidal maniac who craves death and sacrifice. Who needs a god when you have ingenuity and will power and independence.
@Zaxxen69 And for good reason.. Satan hates marriage, especially Christian marriages because it mirrors the trinity hear on earth. Atheists who are married actually lead easier lives, often what the world would see as "more blessed" but that is because Satan already owns them so he doesn't have to meddle in the marriages. Also Christian marriages are under a microscope by those outside to church to meet certain expecations, where Atheists only have themselves to compare to..
@freespeachrulez you draw a good point. adding to that, sometimes, a Christian couple going through tribulation FORGETS that God has a solution for EVERYTHING and just want to take matters into their own hands and the easy way out. it's TRIBULATION that makes a marriage stronger, it's not meant to destroy it. Love will always find a way when we confide in God's plan.

@awesomechildisKool I can tell you why. Because it's a christian fil with good values. Almost everything that the secular media and left wing are battling against.
I'm normally not one to let my emotions be too heavilly hit, but when she says "I do not love you"...shoot that hurt ME. (I was totally in love with a girl who treated me the same way.lol)
I'm going through a separation right now, my wife says she doesn't love me and nothing I do seems to work. At least Caleb is still in the same house as his wife. Pray for me if you read this. We've got a 3 year old and an 8 month old. I would try the Love Dare but she doesn't want any attention from me. It's very hard.
but you have to understand its sad but thats way life is, it has its ups and downs but if u cant make love work than at least try cause its not gonna get you any where if u dont try to make stuff work. love it hard but u need the right one to love and show the love to,
@prideandprejudice223 I said the same thing to my husband. He kept loving me. We already had 8 children. He didn't force anything on me. I told him in so many words not to act desperate. He kept loving me despite my lack of love for him. Jesus Christ dwelling in both of us saved our marriage.
this is my favorite part!!!!! Jesus Christ changed my life!!!!

It's very hard.

it's so sad when she says "let me be real clear about something. i do not love you."

@prideandprejudice223 I said the same thing to my husband. He kept loving me. We already had 8 children. He didn't force anything on me. I told him in so many words not to act desperate. He kept loving me despite my lack of love for him. Jesus Christ dwelling in both of us saved our marriage.
