  • I love these old villiers engines, i have quite a few of them and have always managed to get them running in some form or another, even if the compression is low. But i totally agree with the timing issue, get that right and it should run pretty well.

As a matter of interest, could you tell me the serial numbers of the engine, they are located on the side of the crank case?

    cheers

  • what the fuck you doing trying to blow it up with easy start thick heads no wonder it keep running because you forgot the fuel tank

  • If you search "Villiers Midget" on google the bottom result is a manual for these which explains all.

    Good luck : )

I should be getting a slopeing fin villiers atco soon.

  • That's just the thing I needed, thanks heaps. I managed to finally get the thing started tonight. WOOHOO!

    : )

  • @steamwally i cant find the manual you are referring to, do you have another link?

  • Hi there,

TBH I probably wouldn't remember where to find it now, but PM me your email and I'll send it too you.

  • Thanks guys. Hopefully I can get some spare time over christmas to work on this thing again.

  • Hey there, I've got the same engine (built November 1951). I think you need to adjust the timing to make the old girl fire. Line the arrow on the flywheel up with the same mark on the stator plate when the piston is just shy (3/16") of TDC and see how it goes

  • On the ones i have seen they run between 16 to 1 and 10 to 1 ratio, very high oil content.
