  • Wo Ken, just doing some research for a track I am contemplating on bluegrass and you were the first google hit. Again, love what you are doing for the uke in pushing the boundaries, and your willingness to teach

  • @LogjamTheComic Thanks for watching.

  • great video. Maybe you could do a video explaining the basics of how to play blue grass as opposed to just licks. This was lovely.

  • @1227elib I have been thinking about that for a while. I will have to try to get around to it.

  • Thanks for the comment.

  • I was having a jam with a whole bunch of bluegrass playing banjoers last night which got thinking about doing some little soloing bits myself, your video looks to fit the bill perfectly! They seemed to play almost exclusively in G but I guess I just move these patterns up 2 frets and that it transposed to G.

Thanks again for another wonderful tuition video, you're a star and an inspriation.

  • Thanks. I was going to do others in different keys. I just haven't got round to it yet.

  • Fantastic tutorial Ken, I wish my ukulele sounded as good as yours.

  • I record it directly into Audacity (a simple free app) using a Zoom H2. I then add EQ and reverb. However, it is a lovely-sounding uke anyway. Thanks.

  • GREAT TUTORIAL! It is much appreciated!

  • My first uke is arriving tomorrow, these vids will help a lot! thanks ken.

  • SWEET!!

    Bluegrass all the way!!

    Nice and TWANGY!!

    Kainoa

  • that is really great stuff. I would love to see simple slow illustrations of picking single notes along with chords using simple chord patterns. I can chord and I can pick individual notes but dont get the combining.

  • Yesssss! Thanks!

  • thanks for this

  • Yes, yes, licks in different keys, different styles, whatever you have to share.....

    Lynn

  • OK, Lynn.

  • Ken: You are a gold mine! I hope you are benefitting from your generosity as much as the ukulele community is!

    Thank you. Lynn

  • Thanks, I am enjoying writing them.

  • Endings and turnarounds are something I struggle with - thanks for this!

  • Thanks, Coyote.

  • Cheers Ken. I am going to go and do my homework now. If you don't hear any of these endings in my next few videos it's because the dog ate them. Seriously, ☆☆☆☆☆ and faved

  • this is a such a helpful tutorial. thanks Ken!

  • Dude,

you are the COOLest ever! Thanks for all your vids Ken!

  • Great stuff Ken! Thanks for sharing your knowledge!

  • I love your lessons and wish I had you as a music teacher in school instead of the boring ol' bat we had...

  • I was right! Thank you Ken. It was very informative and fun!

  • Ken,

I'm leaving this comment before I even watch to say THANK YOU! I know this is going to be insightful, educational and fun. I've been stuck using the same couple of endings for phrases for a looooong time. Okay, time to watch!! :D
