This video is really more about the analogy to help people understand how wifi works, rather than what a router is. I have a different video that talks more about the router itself (although ironically since I have an Airport router, which looks very different than most routers, I used a hub I had handy since it actually looked more like most routers do. And yes, I explained that in the other video)
Thanks much! I recently designed my own WiFi can type antenna (isn't everybody?) and was shocked to see it worked for me. Now your lectures are helping me begin to understand why.
You know, that's a good question. Honestly, I don't know for sure, but I imagine it has something to do with the different purpose of the two devices. The cable box has to process (and descramble in many cases) a video signal, which is a very different job than modulating & demodulating (mo-dem) a network signal.
Believe it or not, I actually had a dreadful monotone voice growing up, and actually studied and practiced to improve my speaking voice. Guess it worked. :)
I'll be getting a wireless netbook as a Christmas gift, so this vid helped me understand WiFi so I can use my NetBook Alot Better.
