The superficial sheet used is just plain MDF...being porous the vacuum can suck through this piece, cut slightly into it and still protect the table from any marks
is the middle piece a sacrificial plate used for through drilling or does it simply distribute the vacuum? if it's the latter, how does it do this? i don't see any holes in the material
What kind of pump is it (brand, CFM etc.)?

What material is the vacuum table itself made of? Is this elastic? How can you get a good seal with the mdf-board if there isn't any gasket used?

that is wicked cool, I had no idea the vacum had enough power to suck throuch MDF... how thick is the MDF sheet used? 1/2 inch?
