I must confess this piece somewhat undermines my confidence in the sensitivity of my ear. If I'd heard it on the (radio without identification) I would have guessed -fairly confidently- that it was the work of Mozart.
No, scratch that. I hear obvious if oblique similarities to the "surprise" symphony ( 4:00 and 4:38 ) the cello concerto in D major ( 4:51 ) and the "hen" symphony ( 5:40 ).
@mizzleading863 Period instruments are typical tuned to a lower pitch. A=415Hz is typically used for Baroque performances and A=430Hz for Classical (A=440Hz is used on modern instruments.) Compare... Scarlatti Sonata K380 Modern - watch?v=HpzZ0epqKwE Classical - watch?v=VrqpRHSeojw Baroque - watch?v=PcABQXPbRhY Mozart Eine Kleine Nachtmusik Modern - watch?v=GT7_Y1pIBb4 Classical - watch?v=wKhH2hRa-WQ Baroque - watch?v=xmLBxR1aJ
Glad you upload this pieces of Haydn Thank you very much ! the other I use to listing have removed all the pieces .. soo thank you very very much !! \love this pieces !
This is a very great recording of the piece. Much faster than I thought, but then again, I'm still learning it. Great execution of dynamics. Really made this movement sounded grand.
The pianoforte is essentially an advanced harpsichord used mostly during the mid to late 18th century. It continually developed into the piano we know and love today :) I personally love the usage of period instruments, however getting a hold of a playable pianoforte for concertos is rare and almost obsolete.
@mpianista it's a difference between ages: in the eighteen century the tune was lower than today with a tone i think... anyway you can google it to find the best answer
Why couldn't Beethoven find his teacher?
aha... because he was Haydn

love the clarity of that instrument, so crisp and lovely. The way it pokes your ears, so colorful and clearly defined.
