Remarkably affecting and very personal-- the merger of his youth and old age, and the bridging of two very different countries/cultures, among other things. Here, Horowitz, whose interpretations too often veered off in the direction of kitsch, utilizes his remarkable musical powers to express the most profound states of feeling.
This song is to be appreciated. When i first heard it i fell in love. Playing the piano is truly a gift. I appreciate Horowitz, even though I was never alive to see him. He passed in 1989 i believe. His piano playing will live on in the hearts of many who appreciate classical music FOREVER.
HAHA..i think ypu got it wrong...sometimes when i am at a concert..i just close my eyes and listen to the music...i m very very sure they are just lk me...nt sleepin..
Vlad was a true master. He had a touch of pure gold. Every sound was so precious in this Traumerei, so comforting, like a mother's kiss on a sore. When I listen to this, no matter how bad things are in my life and in the world, I know that goodness and beauty like this can be produced from the human heart. When I listen to this, I know everything will be alright. Thank you Vladimir.
Horowitz's triumphant return to musicianship after the dark years of 1983 and 1984 was so thrilling and life-affirming. In the years between 1985 and 1989, he was relaxed and songful. His Last Recording is filled with miraculous, bel canto playing. Viva, Horowitz!!! :-)
Not bad for an old man, he knows he's nailed it. Just shear magic..............

In the one second from .05 to .06 is the most beautiful little arpegio (is that correct?) each note a gem, a string of pearls or raindrops. Amazing.

it always seems to me as if the music streams out of Horowitz onto the keyboard, as if from its source
