The Z-Z-Z-Z-Z-Z-ZZZZZZZZZZ. Sorry folks don't get caught in the hype. This is YAWNSville central. I do think the car is cool and the title of the movie iss perfect for HORROR....But ouy vay
After years of searching for this movie, a B movie from crown International Pictures I finely found one on Amazon. After calling Crown several times I was told they don't have it anymore. I Found the movie here and My friend was banned from You-tube by Paramount Pictures for copyright infringement! 30 year old movie. Paramount can kiss a camels ass as far as I'm concerned. Yipi ky a, You still rock my friend! The greedy bitches!
This movie scared the shit out of me when I first saw it on HBO- had to have been about nine years old 1982-83. Finally was able to get it on DVD on ebay a few years ago.
Hello all! I'm going to show my age and say that I am a Horror fan from this era and I remember my dad taking me to see The Hearse, among many others, when it came out at the theatres! A suggestion to those of you who like these kinda films, look up the trailer to Deadly Blessing. Its a very unpopular Wes Cravin film from 1981, starring Sharon Stone and some other familiar faces I can't name. Thanks for posting this trailer. This really takes me back!
Ppl this is just like any other ghost vehicle movie. Like: Christine, the car, wheels of terror, trucks, and maximum overdrive. And now, the hearse. Lol I'm not sure bout herbie thou. Even thou he's not evil, he still is a "phantom" car.
this movie is the best horror of all time me and my fiancee was watching this yesterday we got scared almost to death wow i first watched this movie back in america when i was 14 years old
I never could understand this horror flick & why it was rated PG instead of R back in 1980 when it was released in theaters. This movie even had a sex scene to add another purpose for being rated R too.
I used to be a Grave Digger and bought a 1976 Cadillace Hearse from the Funeral Home. Had a lot of fun driving it all over, especially on Halloween. This movie is good, the one on DVD is kind of cut up but still worth owning.
Yeah, my car does that sometimes. When I'm sitting in her with the AC off, it still starts and stops like she's breathing and she groans when she's tired. She probably roams the country roads in search of victims when I'm away too.
This very standard early 80's haunted house/possessed souls chiller does feature one ingenious and genuinely creepy gimmick, namely the titular vehicle that mysteriously drives around at night
Small correction- it is actually a 1951 Packard, with the hearse body made the Henney Co. of Freeport IL. In their day, the Henney-Packards were the elite funeral car, with a price to match. 450 or so made that year. Although tough to see a black car at night, the one in this movie was in rather poor shape. Still a shame to destroy it. A closer look will show a standard '52 Packard sedan for close ups of the driver and the front end of the car. A '52 has a badge on the grille, '51 does not.
yeah, its a 1944 bristol zagatto with a muller of ipswich conversion, funny thing is its worth more than the film made, and they trashed it at a press release night, Trish had one to many gin and tonics and drove it through a 7/11 killing all 46 members of staff. surprised you never heard about that, 7/11 now use the hearse to promote their new range of sandwiches which contian fresh ingredients like tomatoes lettuce red onion and my favourite sweetcorn, available now for a limited time only
Hey, can you put some clips up here from The Hearse, please? Even if it's just the piano song in the beginning. I loved the music to this old movie. I cant believe I found it on here. When I did a search for this I really didn't even expect to find the trailer for it.
I just saw the Columbo episode starring Trish Van Devere, and thought her beautiful and talented. Then went to YouTube and found myself watching the trailer for THE HEARSE. It's a bit depressing; looks like a garden variety haunted house flick. And Trish? She seems too good for this sort of thing. Imagine Liv Ullmann in a Hopalong Cassidy flick.
my mother is Trish Vandevere Scott, my birth father was george dressel he is my mothers brother so she is really my aunt, she adopted me when i was 6 months and i have to say her voice has never changed!

That guy was kidding you- The hearse in this movie was a 1953 Packard. The director said in an interview that it had a unique clutch with so many gears they had to learn how to drive it! LOL
@zimchar 1959 Cadillac Superior 3-way was still the standard blueprint up into the early 80's, but also Crysler got into making a line of them which looked very similar to the one in the movie.
