  • Thank you so much! I live in a small town in Arkansas and no one here does natural hair styles. I am confident that with your video I will be able to achieve the style I want. Your video is most helpful. God Bless!

  • I get it now!!

  • thank you so much ,I plan to do my own in the near future now that I have found someone that explains clearly how to do this process.Bless you for sharing the knowledge!

    love,light and peace

please email me when you have time I would like to ask you a question or two if it's ok ,about the interlocking procedure, email me at slevinblp@gmail.com

thanks much :-) look forward to hearing from you.

  • man all these numbers are confusing... i wish you could so my hair for me lol but i'm in the uk

  • tnx . now i wil make single my dredloks

    :X

  • I want to do my own but I am so nervous because I can't see. (sigh) Encourage me lol.

  • Black Queen.

  • Excellent Tutorial i love it !!!!!!!

  • THIS VIDEO IS AMAZING I LOVE IT

  • glad u are free...very nice work=]

  • two of my little dreads keep coming completely undone can i interlock them???

  • This tutorial is a great option for people who want to interlock your their own hair. Do you interlock for a living? I have an aunt in NY who wants interlocks, Im also a fellow New Yorker (:

  • I have a question: Is interlocking a SUBSTITUTION for retwisting?? Or can I interlock and THEN retwist??

  • @RicoLove954 its a substitution for retwiting

  • FINALLY!!!! Thank you so much for posting this tutorial sis~ NO ONE was posting a how to video on "starting" sisterlocks! I really appreciate you for this! xoxo

  • @angelinathegreatness That is great! congratulations!

  • @NubianLockedPrincess thank you as well. because of your video I was able to lock my hair myself. The video was simple and to the point.

  • Wtf are you doing???

  • @LICKPIMP If you did not know what I was doing, you should not be looking on this channel! So WTF are you doing?!

  • @NubianLockedPrincess Hahahaha you told him. Thanks for the tips I love my Dreadlocks and culture hahaha

  • Thank God for you. Out of the WHOLE of Utube ur the only one that I've come across that has ACTUALLY shown me how to start off a sisterlock, or just locking in general - I so thank you. May God bless you. xXx

  • @LadyGds Thank you! May God continue to bless you too!

  • this is great. this is good culture for ouur kids.

  • @ShaLa876 Yes it is!

  • DANKJE!! XX

  • great tutorial!

  • @ebqueen1 Thank you!

  • my hair is shrinks to less than 2 inches when dry but when i blow dry it, its like 5 or 6 inches and the ends get fairly straight. I tried to interlock but i've been having a problem with grasping the ends to start the interlocking process. do you have any suggestions?

  • @GeminisGem82 use the little black rubberbands or braid the ends a little bit

  • @GeminisGem82 You can tease the straight hair at the end, then start interlocking at least an inch above the ends. I have the same problem. It worked for me. That is what my consultant did when she installed my SL. That`s what I did when I took down some locs and restarted them.

  • hiyeeee so glad i saw this video i also saw your video on how to make a locking tool so had to try it and i did made one exactly as you did (candle and all) and now i am interlocking my 1 month old comb coils. thanks so much!!! i have very soft hair so this will definetly help me keep on my loc journey. I will keep you posted.

  • takes

  • Okay the video was helpful and confusing. Some vids on her say u have to cut the perm out others say u don't. I am 38 years old recently had a stroke and decide to change everything. Help anyone!!!!

  • @kitty794 You do not have to cut the permed hair off to interlock. You should only lock the new natural growth. As your natural hair begins to loc, you can start trimming the permed hair off until you are all natural

  • i have caucasian straight and my locs r kinda loose so can i interlock my new growth

  • @safet141414 You can. It is probably will be the best process for your hair to lock. The straighter the texture the more time it will take to lock. it will eventually lock!

  • @safet141414 yes

  • @NubianLockedPrincess thnx u have very nice locs

  • all you had to say was left, right, up, down and you won't confuse yourself

  • @rtrice1870 Then you make a video

  • Can I just tell you - there's no need for anyone to spend $15 on a nappy lock tool. Someone has been smart and is capitalizing on this technique of locking. You can just use a rughooking hook, which can be purchased at any major craft store...and a heckuva lot cheaper than $15. It's what i've been using for the last year and I love it!

  • @mamajazzygirl I know . . . plus I have seen this tool before, they even have them in the beads that you would buy to put in little girls hair!

  • @mamajazzygirl I tried a latch hook when I first started locking my hair and it did not work for me. The tool allows me to tighten continuously without hooking and latching. if you viewed my other vids you will see that I do not use the nappytool anymore. I make my own tool from a plastic yarn needle. Thanks for the advice ;)

  • Do you live in Chicago!?

  • @abena2673 No dear. I`am a New Yorker.

  • YOU ARE AWESOME!!!!! I just got started and I'm sooo excited! It's turning out lovely! Thank you soooo much for sharing!

  • @liyyah070406 Thank you! I`am happy to help you!

  • This was a very good tutorial..I am in fact orderind the nappyloc tool and doing it myself! this is exactly what i needed.

@amirahbey you cut the permed ends after 4-5 months after the locks settle

. if you do it too early the lock might slip.

  • I have a question. After watching this video i realized that it is quite possible to do this method on Caucasian hair, but would it look right and lock up right on Caucasian hair?

  • Hello, I've been considering going natural with Sister Locks in particular for a while and don't know of anyone in the area who can do them for me. This video is very helpful, but I would like to know if I will need to cut all my relaxed hair out first? Do I need to wait for a certain amount of new growth to come in to start this process??

  • @AmirahBey No you do not need to cut your hair. Just lock up the new growth and let the perm hair loose. The perm hair will not lock. As your natural hair grows out and gets longer you can cut a little of the permed hair off until there is none left.

  • Thanks Sister. Your video is one of the best I've seen.

    Peace

  • @MsTanJoY Thank you for viewing!

  • Wow, awesome technique. I recently interlocked my hair and I am saying to my self i wish i saw this technique before so I would have had my stylist use it to lock my hair. Next time I visit my stylist I'll be sure to pass on this tip. Great post....love it

  • @madfuss Thank you! Congrats to you and your new lock journey!

  • i want to know if the hair will expand with interlocking. the first time i had dreads, they were started by interlocking and they didn't expand at all.

  • @EmceeGeek It depends on you hair texture, the size of your locs and the length of time you had your locs in. As times goes on they will expand. The base or the size of your parts will determine how large your locs will be.

  • How do you remove them without cutting the hair? Are you able to reverse the process after a few years?

  • @TraciBaty Thoroughly wet your hair, then lather your hair in either a really good conditioner or some sort of really fatty substance like mayo or butter (seriously), and carefully patiently comb out each individual dread that way. Trust me, it works. There are also videos of people taking out mature dreads on youtube. :] Hope that helps!

  • @TraciBaty Reply answered by Miss Love Tantei 91. Thank you! XOXO

  • NLP! HEELLLPPP. I want to first thank you SOOOO MUCH!! This video ALONE is why I am known as the interlock king in my town. I have built a great clientele and have found a great way to subsidize my income as well. So again I thank you. Now with as many clients as I have, those with less coarse hair, I have to deal with the unraveling in the back constantly. Those with coarse hair, I encourage washing it more often and it remedies that issue. But what about unraveling for less coarse hair. Help!

  • im confused :(

  • wow never seen it done that way

  • ive been trying to learn this for awhile thnx 4 making this vid

  • Hey, GREAT video! Im considering doing a few on my girlfriend's hair as part of her underlayer; ive never done it before, so is it a do-able method for a beginner like me? and ive heard eventually theyll fatten up A LITTLE bit and start to look like traditional dreadlocks, is this true? thanks!

  • thats hot i like that technique i have been letting my hair grow to do dreds now do i have to have absoulute lkong hair to start ect ?

  • How are sistalocks done? do you know?

    thanks for this vid too

  • @Applebaum You are welcome!

  • Where did you purchase the tool?

  • @stella50ish Nappy Locs dot com

  • she's a m a z i n g ! :)

I'm going to make my dreadlocks with her instructions, they look very nice and tidy!

  • @ArtistGrasshopper Thank you very much! Much success!

  • Thank you so much. I plan 2 lock my little 6yr sister using this method bcoz her hair is very thick and matts up at the mere mention of water so its quite painful for her to get her hair neatly done. Im loc'd myself (2yrs) and im loving it i only hope my mother wil allow me to do them. Who knew sisterlocks were that easy to start? Its so hush hush you'd think there was more to it (Is there more to It?). I just dont want my lil sis to go through the lifetime of perms and chemicals. God bless you.

  • @Cabz2018 You are kindly welcome! I pray that your mother will let you too! Your sister is so blessed to have you! May God continue to bless you!

  • Thank You so much i was just about to pay to learn how to interlock my own hair. The Internet has many benifits Thanks again

  • @totalwreck10 You are kindly welcome!

  • Very thorough explanation, thank you for posting!

  • @pacutie101 Thank you for viewing!

  • Thank you so much for this! now I just wish I still had my old bratz doll head...(If she wasn't to damaged from when I learned how to braid XD)

  • @kakashomarufan You are kindly welcome! Any doll will do!

  • i have never seen hair locked this way before, kind of interesting!

  • @nicely1988 Thank you!

  • Wow love the video. I was planning to give myself locks tomorrow but I wasn't sure what technique to use. This one works wonderfully on my hair. Thanks again!

  • @JamaicanBrownie73 Thank you for viewing my video. Much success!

  • @JamaicanBrownie73 Thank you for viewing! Congrats!

  • Good instructional video...thanks my Sister!! Will this method work on super-mini locks?

  • @3000misslady Thank you! This method is made for micro locks or super mini locs.

  • this was nice...y do u think so many people twist/palm roll instead of interlocking to tighten?

  • @rwill117 people who have traditional locs tend to palm roll. There are many who have began to interlock because there is no worries of unraveling after the hair gets wet.

  • are you able to do that with short hair

  • @TheDegree410 Yes! At least 2" is needed to interloc.

  • I am so glad to have found your video, You came across clearly, professional and classy, as a mature woman myself it was comforting to see some one in my age

bracket. How do mature men respond to your hair style? I dont have sister locs yet but, I'm now going to do mine after watching your instructions. I will let you know how they come out. Thank you again for your style, class and professionalism.

  • I enjoy your video's and I'm so glad to have found your, as an age wise mature woman it was wonderful to find someone in my age group. I don't have locs right now I have been doing research and found your;helping me to see that women my age look classy, smart and youthful as well as stylish. I will continue to follow you. oh yes how do mature men respond to your hair style?

  • @writerpoetQueen Thank you so much! You are so kind! Age is just a number. If you take care of your body, mentally and physically, it will be kind to you! A positive out look towards like is everything! God is GOOD!

  • ionce you've locked ur hair how do u take them out?

  • @xxhellofoolxx You can take them down with conditioner and pick them out. It is time consuming, but it can be done.

  • I love the video! where can I order the tool from? I do locs but I do the comb and palm roll method

  • @MsKeke74 google nappylocs

  • just wondering if you could tell me where you got that nappy lock tool. perhaps a website address or the name of the store where you purchased it. I'm seriously considering dreading my own hair and think I would find this tool quite useful. thanks for the video ^_^

  • @rahim2607 google NappyLocs

  • I am contemplating SL's big time! I have a friend girl in Cali that has them and I love her hair. Out of all the videos I have viewed, I love your 4 Step instructions on how to tighten up your Locs. After watching you...I am ready to start my SL's!!!! I may have to review your video again to tighten mine up.

  • @msnkbs Congratulations! I love my SL. If it were not for them, I would not be locked today. I know you will enjoy them!

  • Hello,

Where can I order the tool from?

  • @ekklesialdl google nappylocs

  • I watched this vid last year when I was thinking about sisterlocks. I am now a year in w/my SL's and am thinking about becoming a DIY'r. I so scared to mess up my locs because i just love them. However, watching this vid ALMOST has me thinking I can do it. Thank you.

  • @nfoster74 Hello, nfoster74! Thank you for viewing my Vids. Don`t be afraid! get a doll head and practice! That is what I did before I attempted to re-ti my SLs. I have been doing my own for almost 21/2 yrs. There is nothing like knowing and how to take care of your own locs!

You can do what ever your mind is so you can do! Practice makes perfect!

  • I am so glad to have found your video, You came across clearly, professional and classy, as a mature woman myself it was comforting to see some one in my age

  • looks complicated lol

  • @Vic54547 Not really! I just looks that way! I said the same thing before I was taught the technique,

  • Im not trying to sound silly or anything but is this just a braid ? How long does this take and whats the benifits to this method ? Thnk u in advance !

  • @HIMAY10NENCE Actually it resembles a fishtail braid when done right. It`s like weaving a rope, which provides a strong foundation for small microlocs. The benefits are that you have a stronger loc, you can wash, swim,& workout with out re-twisting.

  • OMG!! THANK YOU!!! I have been looking for something like this for so long. I want to start nappylocs on my daughter but most people are charging 3-7hundred dollars. You have saved me a fortune!! I watched the tutorial on how to make the tool but where do you purchase yours from?

  • im thinking about starting locs but my perm hasnt grown out all the way..will my hair still lock??

  • Hello! Thank you so much for this video! I've been palmtwisting my boyfriend's hair for about 6 months but it wasn't locking as fast as he wanted. So I looked for different methods and found this video! I interlocked a few of his locs but I have a question. When I get all the way down to his scalp the hair has a bit of a division where I last threaded it through. Is this normal? Am I doing something wrong?

  • @wonaplea08 Yes something is wrong. You probably went through the same place twice. To close the Y ,take your tool and go through the Y once.

  • thank you this was a lot of help

  • @BRINGINDATKRYPTONITE You are kindly welcome!

  • ha so i tried to interlock lke 4 of my dreads an like on 1 of them i have a hole from where i interlocked it at , at the root, is that bad ?

  • @laquan76667 : You have to push down towards the locked hair with your tool before you pull the loc through. This will eliminated holes and prevent you from interlocking through a rotation twice.

  • damng this was complicated...it s probably works...b/c my locks won t lay down.

  • @littlediva871 : You have to end at 12:00 or going down toward south so they will lay down. Practice on a dummy head first!

  • Ahaha Three o'clock, Six o'clock

  • Is it fair to say that this is how sisterlocks are created? I have been searching the net for three days now trying to see exactly how one starts sisterlocks. What you are doing looks like latching only on loose hair from the ends up to the root.

  • No it is not fair to say this is how Sisterlocks are created. I am a trianed consultant with years of Sisterlock installations behind me. What she is showing is only a SMALL portion of what is going on while that hair is being swung from 12 to 9 to 6 to 3. She must of gotten a look at what the consultant, who started her locks, was doing in the mirror and assumed that flipping hair from place to place is all that was too it.

  • @cspice309 Ok :o) Since you know how it is done, the Sisterlocks that is, could you PLEASE explain to me how it is done? I have thick locs but I am SO curious as to how Sisterlocks are started. I haven't see n a vid on it other than this one...

  • @Desaundrea She can`t teach you, because she signed a contract with miss Joanne not to teach the so called secret!

  • @NubianLockedPrincess LOL It would seem to me from what you show here, that there isn't that much more to the technique... i latch my locs using a latch hook, but i use the very same rotation that you show here. I was just curious. wondering if there was more. she never answered me after dissing you so I guess that contract got her tongue lol

  • @cspice309 ; No actually, I was taught by a trained person!

  • God bless you and thankyou for your expertice and instruction to help other stlyists further thier hair future. I THANK YOU MY DEAR!!!!!MAY GOD BLESS YOU!!!

  • @coacoalove Thank you dear! May God bless you too!

  • I am looking to start my locs with this process and was wondering if I should use any oils or anything during the process on the hair?

  • Please do not use any oils the first few months of your lock process. I only used sweet almond oil with tea tree oil, rosemary, and peppermint on my scalp to prevent my scalp from itching and flaking. I used jane carter leave-in conditioner once a week.

  • hi, i would like to know what i could do to make my front locks look fuller? the back or my hair is thicker, but in the front she made boxes bigger so hair would not be so skinny, since its thinner.hope you can help thanks

  • @redalmond2257 : If you do not have mature locs, your locs will get larger. If they are mature, you can switch to a 3pt to give your locs the appearance of fuller locs or combine them as I did.

  • Thank you for sharing this very valuable information. I have a 5 year old child who I would like to start locs but, thought that she had to either she had to walk around with half loc and half 2 strand twist or cut it off all together. But you have given me much hope... Thanks and Bless you for your very informational piece.

  • Vasi21207, Hello! You are kindly welcome! Thank you very much for viewing my vids! I `am happy to help you!

    Stay Blessed!

  • Thank you very much, Vasi21207. I `am happy I could be of some help!

    God bless you too!

  • Oh and I'm loced have been for two and a half years. Happy locing! I subbed you too

  • It a beautiful thing to be locked!

  • You Sister friend...ARE THE BOMB!! I was just on the nappylocs site and thought before I purchase the biz in a box, let me search youtube. And here u are! Thank you soooo much for sharing this. I have clients who want start locs with permed ends and I was just giving them braid sets to start and latching to maintain till I learned interlock. Thanks again...Oh and I'm going to get my Bratz doll (Great idea) today lol! Be blessed!

  • Hello Chosenblessed! Thank you for viewing my vids! I`am happy I could help you! You stay blessed too!

  • You are kindly welcome! thanks for viewing!

  • girl thanks you saved me plenty money(:0)

  • You are kindly welcome!

  • Erykah Badu?? the music of the video??

  • Yes. " I want you"

  • I just started mine, but my parting is just...well awful. I can't do it right. And if I don't get it right I'm concerned that my locks are going to look terrible. :[ Sign.

  • *Sigh.

  • Have someone help you with the parts. I you create a lot of locs, 350 +, you will not see the parts any way when your locs begin to mature. The middle part, should be straight.

  • Girl that was an excellent classl. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I now do not have to worry about paying $200 for retightening class nor do i have to pay 65-90 every 4 to 6weeks. thanks so much and God Bless!

  • Amen! I`am 26 months locked and I can not tell you how much money I saved! The money saved goes to more shoes!

  • Wow, great video! Now I know a new way to really loc. I might try this. Thanks for the informative video and Happay New Year!

  • Thank you SmallBizMktg! Happy New Year to you too!

  • WOW!!! Now I FULLY understand why sisterlocs take so long to put in. I too always wondered why it was so top secret to know how to do sisterlocs. Goodness gracious!! I don't know if I would ever have the patience to start locs this way though. I personally started mine using the palmroll technique and having the great naps that I do they loced within 3 months. God bless natural black hair!

  • MyRootsRoc, I never envied tightly coiled hair until my loc journey. Waiting nearly a year to start locking was no joke! After 25 months, they are now starting to resemble locs. It`s been a mind blowing experience that I would not trade for anything in the world! I`am locked for life!

My God continue to bless you!

  • Very useful!

Blessing and thank you for your generousity! Your locs look great!

  • Mosaic Maiden, Thank you very much!

  • Hi thanks for putting this video on youtube. I've been trying to find out how they do the sister locks. They act like your ask for the recipt for KFC. I hate to pay over $500 for a hair style. But I realy like the way they look.

  • Thank you, 40nNappy! I know what you mean! After I got sisterlocked, I was stressing! My hair constantly unraveled and slipped! When I discovered how to do the technique, I was so angry. The secret was on the internet long before I locked. I just did not know it!

  • Thanks for this video, don't kill the music, I heard you just fine, plus, I love that song by Erykah Badu.

  • Thank you for viewing, I did not plan to kill it! I love my Erykah too!

  • Nice video but kill the music is was distracting! Could barely hear what you were saying.
