I really love Magic Glos, I think it really produces beautiful effects. However... after almost a month of testing this product for use with making doll eyes... it tends to yellow. I HATE saying this, but it's true. It is not good to use for doll eyes. I used a black light as well as sunlight to test. At first the eyes look gorgeous, but if left in any direct or indirect uv light it yellows and or turns cloudy. For jewelry or altered art - great, for doll eyes.... not so great.
I used this and it would not cure- I set olut outside for what seemed like forever- it was partly cloudy so wondering if that could have been the problem. Clear video and good idea with the dried flower!
I want to print out images to use with the magic gloss. Do you know what I should seal the picture with cause decoupage doesn't work. It makes the gloss bead up
You can cure it out in bright sunlight or in a UV lamp for about 15 minutes or until its completely hardened. I have never had it yellow on me like the two part resins often do. This is an easy to use product and comes ready to use right out of the bottle. Plus it has the applicator top which makes it easy to contain.
For the ones that were asking you can buy Magic Glos UV it can be purchased at your local Hobby Lobby store if you live in the United States. You can also buy it on their website. That's the only place that I can think of.
I'm still looking to find where to get this Magic Glos. I wish I knew about this before I purchased the casting resin. lol! Great video. Now where oh where do I get this stuff?
I tried adding Adirondack alcohol ink- the second flower I showed at the end, with the course gold glitter in it, had a drop of bottle green in it. It had an interesting effect upon mixing, it sort of worked- I hesitated to add too much, not knowing what would happen. We should try adding more. It almost didn't want to mix in, but it did, and the color is very faint- with only one drop of ink. The resin did cure just fine. I think I will post more experiments with it when I have a chance.
You have a nice voice. Thank you for the informative video. I do have a quesion..is there any way you can help clay that is really sticky out of the package become less sticky? Thank you. Theresa
Yes, it's called "leaching." you need to roll the clay flat and place it between two sheets of white paper. The oils/plasticizers in the clay will bleed out into the paper. You can do this multiple times until the clay gets to the consistency you want. Just be sure to check it each time, because you can overdo it and end up with crumbly clay!
I got this stuff a few weeks ago..
IT'S AMAZING. <33

You could put small pictures of your kids in them and border the edges and then make a christmas ornament to hang on the tree.

Could you use inks to color the resin, but retain it's translucency?... or would that interfere with the curing?

can you sand it with a dremel after its cured???
perrisbabe 2 years ago
yes- but because it is high gloss, if you want the shine back you have to go through the many steps of sanding and polishing to get it shiny again.
