Zanussi and Electrolux front load washers, sold in UK, are the same product. In the UK you can buy the replacement spider and rear basket bearings. U-tube shows repairs. On e-bay you can seach and find the part (use worldwide search for zanussi washer spider). Also you can purchase the two rear tub bearings on e-bay: 6306-2RS and 6307-2RS
Recipe for failure: place aluminum in contact with stainless steel. Add water and stir. Even distilled water will cause the galvanic reaction, and your tap water is not likely to be distilled.
That's right, Front Loader doesn't have a transmission, only a powerful electric motor with a belt to turn the tub. That's what makes them so silent (when bearings works), no transmission.
The motor is really easy to change I'd say that after having a good access to the rear of the unit it should take 30~45 minutes or so to put in a new motor. But don't ask for the price of the motor though.
If you're lucky, it's the bearings or the motor. there have been A LOT of problems with the aluminum drive spider assemblies and dissimilar metals corrosion.
Frigidaire would have replaced the full read outer drum assembly, including the same cheap China bearings. The repair would have been a bit easier with that part, but but only last as long as the original part did. I choose the route to change the bearings only, use USA made bearings.
I agree with the class action lawsuit comment. This product was designed to fail - between the aluminum/steel combination, the screws extending far enough to gouge the plastic housing and God only knows what other special features are built-in.
That's terrible i owned one (different model) got it in 2002 and NEVER had a problem with it. I ended up giving it to my brother and to this day it STILL runs like a champ. Now i replaced them with the Maytag Neptune. THAT was a big mistake.
A friend of my mom's who used to be our neighbor Has the same problem with her Kenmore front loading washer and it's pretty noisy at it's high speed you can hear throughout most of her house, and it shakes a bit too.
There's another video somewhere where there's a washing machine you can hear throughout most of the house....on a shortwave radio and up to 50 megahertz on a spectrum analyzer. Like I've always said, what you hear may be deafening, but it's what you're NOT hearing that's probably louder...KB1SAC

if you remove the stainless steel tub and reverse the drive pulley, it makes a great fire pit for the back yard.
zooseheidi 2 years ago
Sure, but it makes clothes really messy, be sure to not try to wash clothes while having a fire at the same time, that may burn your clothes... :-)

How did you get the replacement parts for your unit? Did Kenmore/Frigidaire provide them to you Free? Was it difficult to tackle the replacement?
Thanks.

The bearing of the USA Washer is MADE IN CHINA.
You'll never get it out!
Google this model on the Internet. It is absolutely amazing how many people complained with no result!!!
SEARS, the CROOKS won't help you but turned this into a money maker by offering a longer guarantee when you pay the ridicules cost to fix it!!!

This model of front loader is flawed because the bearings are failing due to a poorly designed product.
Even if you replace the bearings, a major task, the inside spider will be corroded because of a Stainless Steel and Aluminum reaction.
The reason there is a drum replacement is because the replacement of the bearings/spider (labor) out ways the cost of the drum.
Their needs to be a Class Action Lawsuit against Frigidaire & Sears on this piece of Junk!
