Like HunterCook said, everyone has their own method of hunting. I am sure that you have your way of hunting your prey at gay bars every weekend, and we dont knock it down here in Texas, so dont knock our deer feeding methods.

Hunting evolves over time. People have been baiting animals for a very long time. Sure, I like to stalk rabbits, run herds of hogs, scare up doves, call in turkeys, etc, but deer feeding is a good way to get meat on the table. Every animal has a different method of hunting it wherever you go, and in Texas and other places, deer are killed in this manner. People also chase hogs with spears. It's all about the culture of that region. If you don't like it, don't hunt that way. Simple.

I have a 55 gallon feeder and use the plastic funnell they sell at Academy for about $15. It sits in the bottom and directs all the corn to the center hole, no corn to let sit and rot so the hogs come tump it over. They also have funnel for 30 gallon barrels. Works good for me, try it.

Where I live and hunt. We can hunt over the corn feeders but are not allowd to shoot them with their mouth full. I have found the corn fed deer really tast great!!!

mustbe from texas were candy asses cant hunt they bait any asshole can sit on feeder or foodplot but it takes a real hunter to stalk his kill.

In survivalist mode, you will use anything you can to bring in food. Your family & the community you survive with come first. This isnt about sport at this level, its about life. Perhaps comprehension of words is difficult for you. This is a survivalist board. I will use salt lick, corn, anything deer want to get my kill & feed my family - in a survival situation.

Genetically modified does not have to be capitalized, neither does bio fuel, and they are making ethanol from corn.

Sugar cane is much more effective for the price. It's all about the sugar.

I'm a squirrel and hog hunter, so I never dealt with deer feeders, so I got a question for all you deer hunters.

In North Carolina or any state can you shoot a deer while it's eating at your feeder?

Deer meat's all right, but I prefer hog and squirrel meat. And I've always figured if your not going to eat you ain't got any business shooting it. But we're having our family reunion in a few weeks and that would be a quick easy way to put some deer meat on the table.

I think you can in Texas but I am not sure about other states. I know here in my state of Mississippi you can not hunt over feeders at all. You are allowed to feed them corn out of a feeder but if you want to hunt that area you have to remove the feeder a week or two before you can hunt there. Not sure the exact time because I never use them although we are allowed to hunt over planted food plots. On a side note, I love hog meat too but when they get large they taste nasty to me.

I live in North Carolina and went to hunting safety classes and they never said anything about that. Even showed us when to shoot and when not to. I'll have to ask my game warden. But I think it's legal. Who is going to know anyway if you shot it while it was feeding?
