@keygun85 Glad to help. Fieldy's got a pretty cool and different technique of slapping. No doubt you've seen some of his lesson videos (e.g. ?v=P0Z2T9RSZ9Q). His stuff is pretty bad ass, especially when it's fast. His hand position is kinda like flea (e.g. ?v=En1U1P9di64). There's so many ways to slap a bass.
@Piliskner Thank man. Ya, it's totally muscle memory. I personally don't like using the word muscle memory because as a young kid I thought the 'memory' was literally stored in the muscles and not the brain. Muscles getting all the credit for the brain's hard work... though the memories wouldn't have formed without the muscles :)
@aidaneducation Hey dude could you please give me a little hint where exactly is the place on your thumb you pull the string up with ? Because I started yesterday and I am pulling the string with part of my thumb exactly in the middle of my joint and I already gone through one huge blister so I had to stop for a while.
@Piliskner Oh man, when I first started I would get blisters constantly. Eventually, calluses grew and I no longer get blisters. Sorta the same deal as we went through for our fretting fingers.
I pluck at the left side of the thumb joint, probably where you're plucking. Some bassists have bendy thumbs (youtube search "bendy thumb" and you'll know what I mean). These guys seem to be able to pull up with the tip of their thumb. It's all about finding what works for you.
@aidaneducation LOL some of those thumbs are sick, anyway I dont have one so I stick to my tech after the blister is gone I hope the skins get used to it. I was making great progress thanks again you should make more videos cheers
