  • @blueleadguitar

you're holding it upside down ;)

  • @TheMoQingbird lol, i just wondered if it means they are different models etc.....?

  • @blueleadguitar hey, this is weird... surfing around the muff demos, and all but one have VolToneSuss instead of SussToneVol. Factory mistakes? Knock offs? Anyway, yours is normal.

  • @TheMoQingbird Ive noticed it on Big Muff's too..... anyway, mine sounds great! lol

  • can someone explain me what the hells is the big muff?

  • @papanimes the big muff is a "fuzz" pedal, generating rich and warm distortion and sustain

  • i LOVE THIS FUCKING THING

  • sounds terrible...

  • this or a Marshall BB2 i better?

  • @gigpac

why is my little big muff pi's controls reversed? i have volume tone then sustain instead :/

  • what guitar and amp do you use in this video?? Great tone ;)

  • This is what Andy Dunlop use for the classic All I Want to do is Rock solo!

  • Dead Meadow - Sleepy Silver Door, perfect song to utilise little big muff

  • What's the difference between the American and Russian models?

  • will a Boss 9v AC adapter work with this one?

  • @Xrick56 no man!!!, buy a EHX only, the polarity is not the same,

  • @Xrick56

If it runs on batteries, use batteries. Trust me, that much less hum.

  • @TheMrAbaddon

It's no fun to buy new batteries all the time

  • @Xrick56

I know, that part of the equation is ass, but it works out in the end. But if you want to get a fuzz, get the Devi Ever Hyperion. It's better.

  • @Xrick56 I've heard this one is standard 9V but the regular and russian are EHX only. Not sure where I heard that.

  • WOLFOTHER SOUNDDD!!!

  • @IAmAGamerMusician I only got mine for Christmas. I have the Little Big Muff. I have used the Big Muff as well. As far as I'm concerned, there is no difference. Same options; knobs. + Electro-Harmonix markets the Little Big Muff as simply a smaller version of a Big Muff.

    Hope it helps.

  • !rock forrest,rock !!!

  • This is what will give you a Jack White tone if that's what you're after. ;)

  • @SicknesssDwellls Plus a POG, yeah ;D

  • Pick this one up if you don't already have it!

  • awesome pedal

  • would you say joan jett songs would be good with this one,im trying to capture the "do you wanna touch me" tone but i find it a little tedious

  • There is normal, there is little and there is nano!

but what about big big muff ?!

  • There is normal, there is little and there is nano!

but what about big big muff!

  • No it's not the same as the Big Muff Pi... The "original" Big Muff uses normal parts but the little one SMD parts...

  • Is it the same as big muff pi but in little?

  • @112358miau It's meant to emulate the 70's Ram Head Big Muff's sound. It's more mid scooped and waaaaaaaaaaay bassier than the normal Big Muff... I LOVE IT!!!

  • can i get the nirvana and black sabbath tone with this

  • @Superninjasam um not really unless you mess with your amp and stompbox but i would go with the boss ds-1 or ds-2 i use ds-1 when i play nirvana and it sounds pretty good and its pretty cheap like 40$-50$

  • @Superninjasam

Nirvana definitely. Black sabbath yes, but really not much more contemporary in terms of metal music.

Really if you want a fat sound like in the video, or like nirvana, and your just starting out and want to save money just get a strat and mess around with the pickup selectors. Few guitars have as much versatility as a stratocaster. As long as you have a half decent pedal and you mess around with the knobs it will do the trick

  • @koolmaaan Besides a H/S/S or a H/H with a coil splitter.

  • I think the Big Big Muff is a little deeper. Crunchier. I favor it over the little guy, if I can afford the room on the board.

  • Little big muff and big muff are the same but big muff is bigger? It is the only difference?

  • @112358miau no the circuits are just a little different but it's so miniscule that it's not even worth noting

  • What amp is this running through?

  • Hi all....can i get a dinosaur jr sound with this pedal?? THX for answers....:)

  • @CZgrungeCZ Yes you can, actually. I'm not sure if they were recorded with a big muff, but in my opinion, most of YLAOM and Dinosaur sound very similar to the sound a big muff produces. I have one, and I've played sludgefest, the lung, forget the swan, kracked, and raisans on this pedal. Its sounds as good as -- if not better than -- the actual recordings.

  • @CZgrungeCZ J. Mascis adores the Big Muff, he's been using it since the beginning, he always use it live.

  • @CZgrungeCZ yes very much so

  • I have one of these. Bad boy is sick on a bass.

  • reminds me of Jack white's playing

  • which one do you like better for 70s classic rock ?little big muff or the double muff?

  • .. these kind of pedals are too expensive here in the Philippines.. So most of the guitar players here go for multiple effects.. only a few rich kids can afford to build a chain..

  • @evlblue Damn right, Overpricing cause it's hard to find EHX products, EHX should supply more pedals here, Filipinos deserve theses quality pedals

  • Good vid man. One question, do you know if wolfmother use this pedal? thanx for sharing the vid, rock on!

  • @snowboarder699 yeah wolfmother use a muff on a few songs, it really stands out on the song pyramid

  • Is big muff a true bypass pedal will it kill tone ?

  • yep all electro harmonix pedals are true bypass. check the website

  • I just bought a big muff couple days ago and i pretty like it . What does it mean FUZZ ??? can i mix it with DS-1 does it sounds great ?

  • Nirvana only used this on one song, Lithium off of Nevermind...Kurt's DS-1 didn't have enough thump for that riff, so he borrowed the studio owner's Muff. That song still sounded awesome, though...

    Irrelevant? Yes. But I'm obsessive.

  • @AeolianSeventh He used this pedal very often. Here some Examples: Ain't a shame, Pennyroyal Tea,...

  • id imagine it would work on bass. If cliff Burton managed to get something out of it id image i could

  • Deerhunter's bassist uses one. They also make a Big Muff Pi Bass pedal.

  • i love him

  • @PRSDM15 cliff used the normal big muff pedal, not the little big muff pedal

  • @PRSDM15 Yeah I Acctually Played with one of these Exact Pedals on my Bass he other day sounded pretty sweet not sure what the Bass Version of this would sound like though

  • great!

  • i love the names they givve these

  • Actually Nirvana did not use this pedal Kurt used DS-1 on years 1987-1991 and DS-2 on years 1991-1994. When he left using DS-1 he gave it to Krist (the bass player).

  • Same on my LBM. No big deal since it works pretty well

  • erm i mean *can anyone tell me whats up with that?

  • hmm the sustain knob on my little big muff is on the right hand side..cannot anyone tell me whats up with that?

  • same here. my sustain and volume knobs are on the oppossite sides as this guys. i always thought mine was the only pedal like that. oh well, guess im not special :(

  • Can you power this with the Dunlop DC Brick?

  • yes, you can power several types of powered stompboxes with the brick

  • big muff or little big muff?whats better?

  • Both pedals sounding exact the same. The little Big Muff has a more stable chassis, is smaler and cheaper. So for me it is the better pedal.

  • Personaly I find them slitghly different. I like the original better, it has a more vintage kinda fuzz. And I'm sure gonna get one!!

  • @MurphSchnitzel boss pedals are way shittier. i mean most of them. ex. odb-3.

  • @MurphSchnitzel the regular big muff is easier to mod.

  • sovtek big muff

  • Great pedal.

  • I ordered this online a minute ago and i want to know, did i make a mistake buying it. Im into grunge and hard rock.

  • No you didn't. Just know that it is more of a fuzz than it is distortion. That means the middle frequencies won't be very prominent (or scooped). I'm sure you'll like it, but for a good hard rock distortion, you might wanna use amp disortion. Idk what you use, just my opinion.

  • i put a little distortion from my pedal with it and it really brings the sound alive

  • I heard This is what Cliff Burton used!!!!

  • I'm sure that you can play the mother solo with that too.

  • Yes.

  • i think ill have to get this to replace my broken big muff

  • No matter what kind of music you play, it never hurts to have that raw one-of-a-kind sound of the awesome big muff ;D

  • ehh is the little muff as big as the big muff?

is it the same exact as the big muff? sound

    sorry for English.

  • Erm, it's a little bit smaller but the sound is nearly the same.

  • the big muff is much beefier

ehx messed about with the electronics in the little big muff and actually made it sound smaller which is stupid if u dont want a ridiculously massive pedal like the big muff

  • what are your pickups of your guitar ? single coil or humbucker?

  • would this sound good through an orange crush 30r

  • what kind of music do you play??

  • classic rock like black sabbath, aerosmith and zeppelin

  • for sabbath it is a nice pedal of aerosmith i would say get a overdrive:)

  • does this box supposed to make the sound "thicker"? sorry i haven't use a EHX yet

  • it should make your guitar sound more fuzzier. listen to hummer by the smashing pumpkins and you will know what i mean:)

  • yes, it produces sort of a 'wall of sound'

    hope this helps.

  • Dude, turn your amp up! I can here your strings. WTF.

  • dickface

  • This is more of a boost pedal right?

  • No its a completely unique distortion pedal doesnt really have a volume increase

  • wow hehe

  • expensive cables used in the video ;D

  • sounds abysmal to me.

  • I think it sounds alot like the song woman by wolfmother. very cool indeed

  • i have the same pedal and the sustain and volume are on the opposite sides of yours

  • Would this pedal be good for getting a Black Sabbath like distortion with a solid state amp? I don't have enough money to get a tube

  • if you cant get a tube amp, that would be a good idea

  • Wow, really nice demonstration!!! Just a question, which amp do you use?? Nice tone!

  • Can the Little Big Muff be used for bass?

  • I play guitar but i hope i could help you: I know that EH has a "Electro Harmonix Bass Big Muff Pi" for Bass.

  • Thanks for your help! :)

  • It sounds incredible on bass! Put the tone control on the bass all the way on and the tone on the fuzz to major treble.

  • I use it on mine and I love it! I liked it better than the actual Big Muff, Russian Big Muff and Bass Big Muff because it's darkier and (to me) has more low end. However, it's a matter of choices and the Bass Big Muff has options to let your clean bass signal get through, if you like that fuzz, go for it (I didn't =P)

  • I use this with a bass and it sounds awesome!! (I actually like more than the Bass Big Muff)

  • yea i never liked any bass dist pedals because they have way too much extra annoying noise and it makes it harder to hear what youre playng, just get a guitar dist pedal like this one

  • they are great but its freaking wierd in a way. just the way i look at it. it sounds awesmoe, but not quite what im looking for... i tjhink?

  • The nobs on mine are reversed (L to R: volume, tone, sustain), besides that it looks and sounds identical.

    Weird, huh?

  • yeah it's very weird, seeing that there is no description on the knobs

  • Wtf are you talking about?

It says right under the nobs, "Sustain, tone, volume."

  • whats the difference between the big muff pi and the little big muff (other than size)

  • theres not one little big muff is just as good as the regular

  • The pi sounds a little fuller, but this has a tighter bottom end. Apparantly

  • Yup, less bright and a shitload more of bottoms ;D

  • I like my bottoms, mind.

  • Oh my God, what a total douche.

  • This thing is great. Instant nasty feed back!

  • good queens of the stone age sound

  • or Kyuss if ur using a bass amp, lol

  • is muff and fuzz the same yeah?

  • muff ia a brand, fuzz is an effect, so...no.

  • man i need one i gotta save up for big muff and wah wah pedal

  • mate DONT buy cry baby wah!! buy vox!

  • is vox like a wah?

  • yea it is a great wah! i think is the v847!

  • vox is a brand

  • CRYBABY IS THE WAY TO GO! actually its what ever u like

  • oops, that didn't beling there ^

  • eh...i'll take a cry baby, something about that nasal sweep and obnoxious treble end that can't be out done. Rip some fast double stops and sweep through the range...instant guitar god.

  • fulltones are the best by far... More options, more awesome sounds, more more more more more... i forgot to mention more money too

  • It's a basic Gilmour effect :)

  • when u engage the pedal there's a loss of volume? isn't it?

  • it makes it louder actually

  • Yeah he does sound a bit like Zappa. Haha!

  • man i got one of these a couple months ago, and wow for a stomp box at that price pretty impressive i wou.ld seriously recommend it

  • That Sounds Like It Could Handle Some MetallicA (Like the Black Album and Before) Very Well

  • Haha that's what i was thinking :)

Plus it goes great with other music i play :D

  • Dammit, it sound soooo good. Gotta make one soon, seems like a good project.

  • best distortion pedal out there in my opinion

  • xxxpete that depends on which you like better. the only difference between the little big muff and the big muff is the size, the little big muff is more compact smaller version of the big muff. which i chose cuz it saves space :)

  • no, the little one doest growl so much

  • Yea I agree.

  • rat sounds better in general,

but this is still a badass pedal

  • whoa my volume is on the left side and my sustain is on the right. thats weird

  • me too!

  • Same

  • you sound like frank zappa.

  • lol frank zappa is awesome!

  • Weird, my pedal has the Volume and Sustain knobs reversed... Is that normal?

  • whats the difference between this one and the reg. size big muff?

  • None, just the size (Y)

Some people say this one has a lil bit less of Tone, but to me they sound exactly the same

  • you can put a battery into the big one

  • dude you should make a demo for ds-2 turbo

  • what is true bypass and does it make a difference?

  • I'm not sure how to put it in technical terms, but yeah it makes a difference. The difference is if you have a true bypass pedal, it will not color your tone in any way when it's off (and sometimes on if it's not a distortion or fuzz box) Some pedals have a buffered bypass. Why? No idea, but some of them can kill your tone while others don't affect it and are as good as a true bypass.

  • with true bypass when the pedal is turned off, the signal passes straight through it, as though it weren't there, rather than passing through all pedal's circuits like when its on. This means when it's off your tone won't be affected by its presence in the chain

  • If you run too many true bypass pedals, however, it's like running through an extremely long cable, which can be a bad thing as well. If this happened, as soon as you turned one of your pedals on, the volume and the treble would change and everything could go haywire, so be careful with running a lot of true bypass pedals.

  • what is the difference between the little and the big muff?

  • someone please reply to his question i wanna know too

  • The big muff (pi) is the original circuitry, the one from a LONG time ago, the new ones (the little reissues) are what the customers wanted changed, like true bypass and a more modern power jack

  • i own both russianand little big muff and both are great for different reasons

  • wasn't happy with mine...

  • Sounds very good, but I still prefer the russian big muff

  • very crunchy and good. like a tasty bottle of pringles for your ears.

  • The way the note rings at the end....:O

  • nice
