I'm a Chevy guy... but the GT500, though overweight which is partially due to the iron block that can hold a lot of boost, has a lot of potential. Solid rear axle bad for corners good for drag. They're good cars to modify and set up for the strip, i must say.

GT500 is undoubtedly faster. But the GTO weighs around 200 pounds less, so you argument about weight is false. It's the 100 horsepower advantage that wins the race. Even though it has to pull MORE weight.
you would think bigger motor more wieght but the 6.0 is an aluminum block where as the 5.4 is cast iron. The GTO weighs 3,700 lbs, the GT500 weighs 20 lbs more, it has 100 less BHP than the GTO also. Both excellent moden muscle though.

I got mine for $33K w/ 4,200 miles. Came with pulley/cai, and 72,000mile full warranty also. It is overweight; 4,100 with me driving.
