  • Dear God, how I HATE ELMO! I hate him worst than Big Bird, and that is saying something.

Turtles, by and large, are vegetarians, aren't they? So having mostly veggies and beans for supper makes perfect sense.

  • @InweTaralom Yes, Elmo has been the leader of the movement to destroy Sesame Street. The real Sesame Street would never have allowed him to take over the show like he has. They have changed everything, even the opening theme song. Look what happens when people do a 7 gram rock of meth and then try to fix shit that ain't broke. It ends up being broke for real. I better stop thinking about it I might get real pissed.

  • i had this on video :)

  • I can't believe this is on youtube! I just thought of this in my head (I know, wierd thing to just think about) and searched it on search.com and it came up on youtube.com.

  • oh that takes me back love elmo at the beginning. "he said silly. YOU SAID SILLAY OSCAH!!!"

  • wow old. hehehhe

  • This is a cute video. THey donlt maske em like this anymore!

  • those turtle do eat pritty halthy

  • why did they change it from "black eyed peas" to simply "peas"?

  • @Muppephile That's what I'm wondering, too. Is it because the agency in charge of nutition guidelines now tells us that dried beans now belong in the meat food group (major protein source for vegetarians), but green peas are still considered vegetables? Or is it because they think no one knows what black eyed peas are, anymore (except a musical group)? Either option is pretty sad.

  • They remade this recently and it isn't nearly as good.

  • @sharkiemc

What was different about the remade version?

  • @Smartboy8877 They changed the animation, the voice and the rhythm. And the black eyed peas have become regular peas.

  • @sharkiemc

Thank you for the information my friend!

  • I like the other one with the sound effects. The one on TroyBoiy's channel.

  • I remember this song on Sing Yourself Silly! They gave it a nice modern touch on episode 4212.

    "You said silly, Oscar!" :-D

My mom sometimes calls me "pinkface" because of Oscar.

  • My friends look at me strangely because I know this one by heart, its really fun to sing.

  • @steve11138 It's ok, Steve, me too. We can sing it together and then they can feel left out. :P

  • This was my favorite one when I was a kid.

  • at the beginning elmo is a hobo

  • He is not, funfun! The opening before the song goes like this:

Oscar: Now, that song was... yucky. (smug chuckle) Gotcha. Thought I was gonna say silly, didn't 'cha? But I didn't. Elmo: Yes you did! Just now! Oscar (studdering gasp): No, I didn't! (crawls back into can) Elmo (climbs onto can, sticks head in can, laughs, turns to screen): He said silly. (sticks head in can, echoing) You said "silly", Oscar!

  • this clip still gets shown every once and a great while !!

  • Those turtles sure know nutrition! Black-eyed peas, mangoes, Brussel sprouts, collard greens, and apples all make for a low-fat, low-sodium diet with which nobody can go wrong! More importantly, great song and great memory! I rate it 10 out of 10!

  • Haha...I know! I love it! Nowhere in the song do they sing "We'd like 10 boxes of processed refined carbohydrates with cheese powder substance!!" :)

What wonderful memories of Classic Sesame Street!

  • nicely said

  • Quite a healthy meal.

  • to this day, I can't eat black eyed peas without hearing "10 cans of black eye peas they give you good strong muscles.."

  • Such a wonderfully catchy song!

  • Yeah,I think it was about 1976 when they first aired this on Sesame Street. I was 9 and I remembered every word. Was floored that I found it here while playing "Let's Stump Youtube" !

  • Is this from the 1990s, when Steve Whitmire performed Kermit and Ernie?

  • this is one of my favorite childhood songs

  • That Elmo was the Elmo I like.

  • Same here with remembering it -- I haven't seen this one for years and years, and yet I remembered 90% of the lyrics. Goes to show how well these things were done back then -- they really stuck with you.

  • I didn't see this on the show but I like it- I think I like this better than the LadyBug's Picnic.

  • I sang to the Toucan Two-Step one and I can hardly believe that I remember all of it.

  • MMM MMM Good ...

  • Ha ha. I've just finished watching The Ladybug Picnic (another of Bud Lucky's songs). And I sung along with this one too even though I'm now 39 and saw this when I was about 5 or 6.

  • This is another of Bud Luckey's ones, I think. I just watched this again for the first time in about 25 years and I sang right along with it.
