how do you get the english version back (or do you need to do the cheat everytime you play the japanese version?)

It's actually like a roulette, most of the time you get the English version when you just select the song, and then other times you get the Japanese side randomly.

Basically, if you want to play the Japanese side of the song without having to constantly play the song just to get it, then you use this code =).

Dude I've found that out a week after I brought my copy (and this was 2 weeks after it was released too). its nothing special the patterns are the same with the japanese version of the song too.
