There is not a bad movie that won. I really hate people who claim the movie sucks because it beat the movie they rooted for. Sure, maybe it might not have been the most deserving in your eyes, but it does not make it a bad film. Goodfellas / Silence of the Lambs / Unforgiven / Schindlers List / Pulp Fiction / The Usual Suspects / Fargo / LA Confidential / The Thin Red Line / American Beauty. Those are my top films from 1990-1999 but the ones that did win are still great films.

I think GOODFELLAS was the best picture of 1990.1996 : FARGO is one my favourite movies but SECRETS & LIES had more effect on me.

1998 : Begnini's masterpiece LA VITA E BELLA(LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL) or SAVING PRIVATE RYAN or ELIZABETH.

SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE is a good film but no way it should have won best picture.

Forrest Gump is such a great fantasy. Its about someone who can do everything and anything and not even appreciate what he has. But even he knows the only thing important is love. And even though this character is practically perfect, not at any point do we feel jealous or angry, we want him to succeed everytime
