i got a 98 maxima with 170,000 miles on it and no problems at all. And i have an 05 nissan maxima with 120,000 miles on it and no problems as well. Maximas are the best cars out there. You get fast and luxurious car for much less money than you would spend on a bmw or a mercedes.

Search the Internet and compare. Check the car's book value. The more miles, the less a car is worth; don't care how nice it is. These are known to have mechanical issues too once they hit 60k. i have a 05 maxima sl and the cars is nice but i will never by one again , siince the car hit 65000 miles all i have been having is transmission problems and nissian wont pay for it and luckly i have a extended up 10 100000 so its getting fixed as i type this but its been fixed more than once already. you can find thousands of other people who have the same car with the same problems on line just google it . so i would be cautious and do research on the 04-05 maximas!!!
@waldoecko Your having transmission problems because the 04-05 Maxima's have a different transmission than the 06 (which the 06 is better). The 07-and up uses a CVT which is bad because its like having 1 long gear.

The garbage you speak of is definitely ACURA..There isn't any Acura TL, RSX, TSX on this planet that has ever or will ever come close to my STOCK 2005 Altima SER 's performance. .I constantly eat them up on 1/4 mile drags and highway runs. It always amazes me how these Acura fanboys think their Acura is "all that fast"..lol..when it's far from that..All you Acura/Honda and Toyota people stick to your family picnics and grocery shopping...LOL...NISSAN POWER WILL ALWAYS RULE.

i had this car and i HATED it...its like a huge boat and the build quality was by far the cheapest/crappiest i'd ever experienced...now i have a honda civic and the transition is striking...hondas are WAY better than nissans in build quality, easily...def a honda person now
