feinting against shield fighters is kinda hilarious. I'll jab fast as i can high up, then swing it down and under their shield to take out their legs.
@myfurbyisdead : Javelins are meant to be throwing weapons. Spears are not allowed to be thrown. And considering most spears in Dag are 8-14 feet long, good luck trying.
I'm still fairly new at dag, but I can beat most shieldmen one on one with a spear. Mostly, because I'm ambidextrous, and use shorter spears I can use one-handed.I hold the spear one-handed, and go for a quick shot at their sword shoulder or chest, before they can get close enough. But you'll only get one or two shots before you get run over.
ive been in dag o while now and i dnt agree with all the regulations. the 1s i dnt i find to be retadred. for instance the flex rule. and you need to allow seige weapons
the flex rule makes complete sence being that real weapons cannoth bed like a rubber band. And we do have siege weapons. you have obviously never been to ragnarok
no ive never been to a sanctioned event. the team im with has been together 3 years but we've only been part of dag since november. the flex rule is flawed it contradicts the "the historical accuracy" that the rules require. you obviously dont know history of weapons. the chineese had some very flexible weapons including spears. now if the rule is for safety reasons: Wtf is unsafe aboot a spear with curtacy foam down the entire length that can flex more thn 45 degrees why not 80
@theexiledyankee : It's safety first, practicality second, and historical accuracy last. It's a safety rule because of the whipping effect. A whipping effect can injury somebody, so it is now allowed.
@Halofreakanoid the whipping effect is something that can be controlled if you posses the skill to do so. i posses this skill and i find it to be very effective in throwing an opponent off balance. the rules of dag are flawed and some of them are pointless which is why im an going to be negotiating with the dag elders for an inter-league event and the flex rule is one of the rules my league will not flex on.
@theexiledyankee : It doesn't matter if YOU can control it. EVERYONE has to be able to control it. The reason is that not everyone who uses a spear or polearm is capable of doing so. I was fine with it too, but many others aren't. Instead of complaining, you could just but a 20 dollar fiberglass bandshoppe pole that has 0 whip and lasts forever. Problem solved.
lmao! that's awesome. I'm a new fighter, i just started this spring, and i love using a big long spear. I also get killed a lot by arrows, I am totally going to give this strategy a try!
If you can get good at quick precison shots, shins shots are the way to go. I have had alot of 1v1 success with my glaive vs sword and board by taggin shins.
In finland, head strikes are allowed, so this is not such a problem. It is difficult, but I've managed to kill a shieldman numerous times by hitting low and up repeatedly.
If by two handed you mead red sword/ long sword, no. I have no clue how to fight with a long sword. Someone should be working on one, check the Dagorhir boards.
I used to block arrows with my face, then I took an arrow to the knee. :)

can u use a double sided spear in dagohir? like a point on both ends with spear hooks on both sides, maybe half length. can u do that?
