Tornado or waterspout or both. Definetly a waterspout at the 1:08 to 1:16 area in the video. I can see the rotation of mist on the lake. It may have gone on land too which would make it a tornado. Tornadoes can be totally invisible or partially invisible. I have seen several videos of the condensation funnel disappearing and people think it has lifted off the ground, but it's still on the ground. This is one thing that even deceives storm chasers and spotters alike. Good video and spot on this.
That is an official tornado as of 1:15. The funnel has contacted the ground. It is hard to see, but a chaser's trained eye can spot it...sure as the dickens. Look for a misty area at ground / water level (whatever that surface is) below and to the left of the funnel. It has definitely made a connection. Tornado! Nice capture. Where was this? What year? Thanks, Joel
Thanks! I've always wondered if I really got a good shot. This was taken from my top deck in April '07 on Lake LBJ in the Hill Country of Texas. The misty area is on the other side of a narrow peninsula near the end of the lake by the town of Horseshoe Bay. We live up the hill about a quarter mile away-or less...yikes! Lake LBJ is one of a chain of 7 lakes on the Colorado river (texas colorado) leading into downtown Austin. LBJ is 1 hour NW of Austin, or 1 1/2 hrs due north of San Antonio.
I just took another hard look at this vid, and in my humble opinion...this funnel became an actual tornado at 1:09 or 1:10.
I'm really curious....does this area of Texas tend to get many tornadoes...or tornadic storms? I know they don't happen too much around Austin (aside from that Jarrell nader years ago) or San Antonio for that matter. But you say this lake is an hour and a half north of there...sometimes this can be the difference between being in tornado territory or not. Thanks......joel
I'm not a storm chaser, just a storm admirer. This video was taken a couple of years ago from the upper deck of my home in Texas. That's Lake LBJ in the background about an hour W/NW of Austin I wish you luck on your storm chasing career!
I want to be a storm chaser too, but if I had the experience you had here right now, I'd be just as happy. Tornadoes truly are the most beautiful, yet destructive force on this planet.
hey all of you guys on youtube i'll give you a REALLY COOL link TO A REALLY COOL VIDEO okay go up to the search bar and search super creepy ufo 100% real! :]
wow this happened in Vancouver. Canada. The rainy place with all the mountains. It was scary, cause it was just outside my house, but it never touched down. was weird cause I live half way up a mountain
Don't listen to mooks like 1GRAW1, this video is nice. Was there a confirmed touchdown with this storm? Kinda looks like the funnel cloud touches the ground for a moment near the end of the video.
The Tornado was like : I'M DOIN IT I'M DOIN IT I'M.........dam.
