  • Holy smokes, that's not easy. I love this song and you nailed it. Thanks for sharing!

  • Harmony at 1:38 was very nice

  • @BlackMagnumFilms that's my favorite part of the song!

  • Hey, guy! you're cool! I'm from Russia and I love beach boys! You're version is cute!

    Thanks for the notes' link!

  • Youre cute ; ) why this song?

  • @happygurl7 I love this song! I'd like to hear it arranged for a full orchestra. In fact, i might do that some day... :)

  • Awsome stuff

  • this is gorgeous... where did you find the sheet music for it? id love to get it

  • @almakelliher thanks, check the description and annotations for the sheet music

  • Wow!

    This is beautiful!

  • @appliance7 hmm, interesting site. Although it'll only give you the quality of the youtube video, which is less than that of MY mp3. If you really want a better quality mp3 from me, just ask

  • Excellent. Excellent. Excellent. Excellent.

So many of us have wanted to do something like this but YOU DID IT! And you did it so well. I'm going to search your other videos to see if you've done any more of this kind of thing.

    Good, good, good, good.

  • @nemo227 thanks, buddy! I've done a few a cappella things. Let me know what you find, I'll help if you'd like

  • Just have to say... I fucking love you! One of my favorite songs. Glad I stumbled upon you. All your vids are great

  • Well done! Great job.

  • I think they recorded this melody on one of the "car song" albums ("409"?) but with different lyrics...called "A Young Man is Gone".

  • Stunning achievement! Bravo!

  • I'm impressed! *clapping*

  • This literally made me cry. Well done!! lol

  • WHAT A BEAUTIFUL SONG ---better that the misogynic crap they have today

  • Wow, you really captured the sound on this one. Sounds just like the Beach Boys. No easy arrangement.

  • This is excellent AAAA !!! I like the slightly increased tempo. You know the Beach Boys arrangement is an exact redo of Four Freshman, who had done this back in about 1953. Brian Wilson apparently was a very big fan of the FF's vocal harmonies...

  • Excellent!

You carried off the modulations around the "robins" brilliantly.

  • very nice! only little tick is ur rushing a little but u hardly notice, it doesnt effect how good it is, just for friendly future advice. nice job i loved it!

  • K,

I have been listening to this song--by both the Beach Boys and the Four Freshmen--for decades. I love this song. And after all these years, your version blew me away. It's fantastic. You have an amazing range and a a critical ear. Apple should be using this as a showcase of their software. I can't think of a better application of it. I put this video on my favorites list.

    Thanks for the joy.

    Many th

  • hear hear! I agree 100%.

  • I'm a 54 year old guy and have heard this song done by several groups, mostly the Four Freshmen, and I have to tell you, this is one of the best I've ever heard!! Well done!! Thanks for posting it!!

  • Wow, just like The Beach Boys, you have made me cry and I have tears in my eyes as I am typing this. Great great job.

  • awe... I feel special!

  • That's great! You're not only a great pianist but a great singer!

  • I thought this would sound like crap but I was thoroughly impressed. Thank you!

  • hey, I'm glad you changed your mind! LOL

    thanks, friend : )

  • I have to concur... I read the description and how you recorded it and I thought..."no way is this NOT going to suck eggs" ... but I am mindblown I have no idea how you can read music and sing it... you did very very well. you must have picked this apart like Brian Wilson did... they say if you like a artist (or band) look/listen to their influences... its such a magical song and story. but anyway... i just cant believe it, great work. MAKE MORE!!!!

  • thanks, you can see more of these on my channel. I have a playlist called Alex, Alex, Alex, and Alex. just click on that and you'll find all my singing videos. They're mostly my own arrangements of things. check it out! : )

  • If I may say so, that's was some piece of work.

  • I thought I posted, but I must've been so transfixed I forgot. This is awesome! You're an amazing talent (and judging from the variety and oddity, a special person, lol). Also, thanks for showing the sheet music.

  • hm...ive never heard this song before, but you do a great job at singing it anyway.

  • I enjoyed the singing and thanks for sharing the arrangement.

  • hey nice job

  • Great job !

Check my version out if you like sometime. Thanks and keep up the good work.

    John Hunter Phillips

  • BEAUTIFUL!

    Congratuliations, Alex!

  • "Congratulations" (sorry)

  • what happened to the video of the beach boys singing this from the andy williams show back in '65?

  • wow its hard to believe that this isnt an authentic old beach boys recording! this is a great job! i listened to the 30 second itunes samples and u sound alot like them! One thing though- i clicked on the link and im pretty sure theres a mistake in the transcription where it doesnt quite match with what the beach boys sing. in the andante measure at 0:48, the bass line sounds to me like A C# D E rather than A D E E. do u have a beach boys recording? do you hear the same thing?

  • thanks for the compliments! actually, I noticed that the beach boys sang a few parts differently than the music said, and I believe the manuscript is correct, I think the beach boys sang a small mistake there. But it's also possible that the manuscript is wrong. What is written makes sense musically, but what they sang sounds great anyway, so it's good either way in my opinion.

thanks for the comment : )

  • I agree with OpusPocus5553 on this one... Mike Love sings it 'A C# D E.' Not saying that's how the Four Freshmen do it, though. ;-)

  • i know its really hard to do this on garageband. so i give you a lot of credit. nice job

  • yeah the way you executed "on a hill where robin's sing" was awesome--that what d'ya callit crescendo i think---was spot on. i can't believe a guy who makes videos about the tourette's guy can sing and mix like this. good luck on your very bright future Alex

  • hey, thanks! I appreciate that comment. I try to make a variety of videos, hit a wide spectrum, ya know.

thanks for watching, friend! : )

  • Alex))) Awesome) You'r very tallented))

    It's so beautiful...

Sorry for my bad English... I'm from Ukrain))

And thank tou for possitive energy))

  • Thank you, wonderful!

Where is possible to find these parts?

    Good luck!

    Jac

  • there is a link in the video description

  • My hat is off to you, sir.

  • This was so great! Love the BBs version and loved this. Notes an added bonus - may try it on guitar! 10/10

  • We are doing this for our four part mens Jazz piece at my college. I'm singing the high tenor part, but I thought this wasn't published?

  • Great!!!!!!!!That is so hard to do! People today have no idea of what harmony is. Great job!

  • Very nice, I'm really impressed! Seems like the timing would be hard to duplicate when recording each part separately -- how'd you manage that?

Also, thanks for the link to the sheet music. It's such a great arrangement!

  • I'm glad you liked it! Actually, the timing wasn't the hard part. The hardest thing was around the line "..on a hill where robins sing.." It was difficult to sing the correct notes when the other parts were on other strange notes.

  • fuckin' amazing!

  • Wow Alex, this is just incredible. Good work, really. Man.. Get in touch with Fineyleee yet to do a tag with him yet? He'd love to, I'm sure of it.

  • sounds like fun! I don't understand how it works, though.. lol

  • Alex, this is wonderful. First, it's a fitting tribute to Brian and the Beach Boys. Second, it's impeccably sung. You've got a great ear and a great voice. Well done.

  • thank you, very much, friend! : )

  • OK, excellent job! Major kudos, dude. I am totally impressed!

  • Wow!that was wonderful.Where did you get hold of the sheet music....tried looking for it for a long time now?

  • I found it online, there's a link in the description of this vid

  • first of all... i hate you man, i been wanting to do a cover of this song with me singing al 4 parts for ages, but my ear could only decode the harmony for the first verse. Then finally when i find the sheet music myself on a website, i find thise great piece of work that you've done here on youtube.

  • Perfect

  • Did you just put the notes into the program and let it sing it for you? It sounds really computerised.

  • lol, no it's not computerized at all. I recorded my voice several times on separate tracks.

  • I use Virtual Singer to make learning tracks in Barbershop.

  • There IS an affordable program that can do that, though: Myriad Bros' Harmony Assistant (or Melody Assistant, even less expensive) with Virtual Singer.

    myriad-online·com

  • Dude. Nice man. I like it! the Sheet Music?

  • Mighty good Alex- nice and balanced- Uggo Boggie

  • I remember the first time that I heard this at your house and I pretended to sing to it even though I didnt know it. Those were the good old days.

  • you are a legend! have u got the sheet music for this? ive been looking everywhere...

  • i like it better when you mess up

    but this is still good

  • lol, you mean, like, when I argue with myself and stuff?

  • ya, like the x-mas one

  • lol nice

  • Yay Pally! Your voice(s)are so good! Yay!

  • Thanks Bunchy!
