At this time, people didn't really bother with weapons like pikes. Some might have swords as sidearms with muskets as primary, but an army would be agumented with mainly muskets and cannons, as far as the europeans went. Also, what do you think bayonets are for?

This game takes place during the sixteenth century, so they would have been using pikes along with gunpowder weapons, namely the Arquebus during this time.

I would have to say. The Americas was the more interesting of the individual campaigns that Medieval II Total War Kingdoms offered. To imagine the battles between Spain and the native Mesoamerican empires being done in amazing three-dimensional graphics is stunning. Plus these games always had the appeal of me changing world history by wondering what would've happened if the natives managed to push back the Europeans. It makes one wonder.

In truth the "war" the spanish had with the Aztecs wasn't that long at all. Cortez came to America, was beaten back, returned with more men and found the Aztecs greatly weakened by European diseases that they had no defence against. The Spanish were in control within the decade.

Hundreds of native rivals wanted to destroy them long before Spain ever arrived. Spain had in their employ thousands of native mercenaries, the disease did little to dwindle the massive numbers of Aztech warriors...
