All you people saying this is not Arabic....don't you know, don't you hear how much Malian music is influenced by North Africa, compared to Guinean and Senegalese music? Don't forget, Mali's neighbours to the North are Libya and Algeria; Mali has nomadic Touareg people trading across the desert for centuries. You can hear this.
I am african american my family traced our family back to mali and nigeria
I will be getting married in 2010
I told my future husband that I do not except the western wedding traditions we will take on the traditions of my people he does not no were he came from I do and I'm proud of it and I am not ashamed alot of african americans do not no their roots
I have a indentity and my wedding will reflect that there will be drums and dancing I want him to look like a african king!
I agree Mail was a mighty empire in her day!I!! I am Mandingo and Yuruba from my father's side and probably the same on my mother's side.
I use my father's ancestry for indentifacation. My family a serious about our roots although we came as slaves we are not ever going to forget our true beginings on my mothers side of the family we discard the babies umbilical cord by two methods by burning or flushing them down the toilet.
It is a tradition it was a tradition that has been preserved.
i LOVE the skill of this Tama player. I have a Nigerian Gangan talking drum, which is smaller than the usual Nigerian talking drums, but its no Tama! i need a Tama so bad! great vid!

That's Arabic music! Strange to hear that among West Africans.
As to Camaras, it's not one's ancestors that matter, it's what one makes of oneself. THAT is the important thing!
