What were the fractions that Chinook Pass was running. Blew away the field like I've never seen before. Nobody even came close ! Thanks for sharing...
@minidowns The fractions were: :22, :44 3/5, 1:09 3/5, and 1:35 3/5. The track was rated fast that day, but the times all day were very slow. Chinook's best fractions were :21 flat on 3 occasions, :43 1/5 twice, :54 4/5, 1:07 3/5 for 6f and 1:14 3/5 for 6.5f. He never won past 6.5f until his last race, The Longacres Mile in 1983, the year he received the Eclipse Award for best sprinter in the country. He won his last three races at Santa Anita, Del Mar and Longacres by 4,8, & 6 lengths.
how cool to see a Longaces race from the past !!! And to top it off it's Chinook Pass one of the greatest racehorses in the WORLD !!! With Gary Henson calling the race what could be better? AWESOME!!! Wish I could hear that "THERE THEY GO" one more time !!!!
Gary Henson was the greatest. His calls of Trooper Seven in the Longacres Mile were legendary. Wish I could find them on YouTube.
