  • If it werent for this song we'd be asking ourselves scoobie doobie doo where are you?

  • I am everyday people. Just one of millions, if not billions. But, we've got to live together! Great source of morality, imho!

I heard he had some financial difficulties.

    It is a shame.

  • Ah man this song has been used by SOOOOO many commercials lol :)

  • This song needs to come back out and in circulation again.

  • I work with a black man that I love so dearly, unfortunately he makes everything a violation because he is black...I love you Wes and it's not because you are black, do ya get it man?!

  • This bass playing style is heard later in Joe Cocker's "Unchain My Heart".

  • SLY & THE FAMILY STONE : LE CONCEPT

«Le groupe comprenait des filles, des mecs blancs, c'était un mélange entre les hommes, les femmes et les différentes races, et c'est comme ça que les choses doivent être. Je n'ai jamais pu me faire à ce genre de discrimination. Je voulais autant que possible que le groupe soit le reflet de l'âme des différents genres et des différentes couleurs de peau. Afin que le monde puisse voir des gens différents s'éclater sur scène, et que cela soit un exemple».

  • This is an American song. One that many more should take to heart.

  • This song was #1 on the day I was born 2/27/69 you gotta love it.

  • @BATMAN3220 You got this awesome song, while I, born less than a month later on 3/17/69, ended up with "Dizzy" by Tommy Roe. =(

  • @BATMAN3220 I was 5 back then. My mom did us good. We struggled and she kept us together. Music is all we had sometimes. Mom did us GOOD. No music today compares to the 50's, 60's, and 70's.

  • Wonderful!!!

  • best band ever? think about it....

  • here this song from the movie definitely maybe ! so now its one of my fave song !

  • i'm gonna be honest, i came for the fro. what can i say? it catches my fancy. lol

  • @ChopOnTop1 Afro picks forever!

  • At first I was sad about what Sly had become with the drugs and everything. But I guess karma's real. I was appalled when I read in his ex-girlfriend Debbie's book that he had forced her to have an abortion with a wire clothes hanger! Could you imagine how painful that would've been. That still doesn't take away from the fact that he's a wonderful musician.

  • @sparkleglitter283

Yeah, but you really can't believe what you hear or read. I'm not saying that it didn't happen cause I wasn'tthere. But people will lie!

  • @spindoctorone1 You're right. I'm not saying it was true. I would hope she wouldn't lie about something like that. She also accuses him of being a former pimp and beating her. Like I said that still doesn't take away from him being a wonderful musician. I know people lie like a muthafuckin rug. But I'm sure that there is some truth in what she said.

  • I was nine and this was one of my favorite albums

  • YEAH YEAH YEAH...this album was and is the BOMB!!!!!!!!!!

  • as a kid my mother played this album all the time great that we can still enjoy some real music

  • @tonyromenyc1 ur such a lucky person to have a parents who knows what real music is !

  • Sly WE LOVE YOU !!!

  • This song came out in 1968, twelve years before I was born. I didn't choose my generation. Nothing I can do about that.

  • @danning1 why are you here ?

  • simply beautifull....with a powerfull message!

  • Dear papa2:

    So right.

Accident here, not there, a gradient so identified, defining the combination of

science, the morality you can't ignore, and the mistakes, including the hypocrisies.

I think we're the same round the world, allowing for what I've said.

Ones aware of infinite variation amongst ourselves and everywhere and also able

to see history in more close-up fashion can inform scpgtg is obnoxiousness transfered for

gain, differences being what separates us from free, equal, happy.

  • who cant listen to this everyday,so on and so on.wasnt it though scooby

  • Ill listen to anything from Sly to Slayer!!!

  • This song is amazing. Sly has such an uplifting sound to his voice.

  • Love This Song SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH!!!! Unfortunatly I missed all the awsome music of the 50's-80's (Born in the 90's) so I only hear about these songs from movies and such....so thanks to Definitely, Maybe for enlightening me.

  • My mom sings this song all the daggone time lol I've grown to sing it myself

  • ight lemme clear up some sly rumors one time lol Sly is not homeless he rents his mansion to his lawyer he hates that house and refuses to go inside. He lives in a winnebago by choice and theres a studio in there. Slys physical appearance was caused by a motorcycle crash not his drug addiction. and regardless of all that he is still EPIC...that is all

  • @GhettoChildTaZ

Thank you for posting this! I was feeling bad for him, by what the media has said about him, not long ago, about him being broke and homeless! Now, see how the media lies! Thank you!

  • @GhettoChildTaZ Your comment is so refreshing to know that Sly is doing well. Been hearing so many negative comments about this legend. Thanks for setting things straight TaZ.

  • @GhettoChildTaZ Yes Sly is dead broke. Artist back then were often manipulated by big Corporation. He is just a small portion of the the LITTLE RICHARD SYNDROME.

  • whats with all the fn adds

  • We are all in this together.

  • @danning1 Apparently it's not fully true.

  • come back sly

  • 34 people are haters!!!!

  • my 4th grade class sng this son on stage and we rock it big time of course that was 42 yrs ago

  • Fuck your advertisements youtube. Put em on those shitty pop vids.

  • @themigtyboosh get adblock + firefox to get rid of ads :)

  • @themigtyboosh word!

  • scooby doobie doo!!!!!!!

  • Great stuff and does not need analysis. It is what it is and is almost always positive. The words are easy to understand. We need to listen again.

  • AMEN. Have you checked out 11:11 THINK. & The Awakening?! Way Cool, Wild Stuff! 4 REAL.

  • This is dedicated to the Occupy Movement. God is really with you because you guys represent love. God is always on the side of Love. Those republicans use his name when they practice hate. God is Love. Marvin Gaye said it and he knew it.

  • Sly need a break. He's homeless in LA, living out of a van, at the end of his rope. Too bad the industry has closed the doors on him. He may be 'in recovery', and 'everyday people' need all the support they can get.

  • (: \

  • We choose to learn and grow....

  • c'mon Sly,I love you and millions across the country love you.

Get out of your hole.Come on man.....do it... we love you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    This country needs you!!!

  • @doowaditti Thanks for a POSITIVE comment...

  • Remember seeing him at MSG as a child with my brother...classic and timeless song...

  • The words to this song are so right for any period in time!!!

  • Hey 99%s, please observe: the comment by @danning1 and those untold numbers who gave him a thumbs-up illustrates the evil in human nature. Why is it necessary to denigrate Sly? Is that what will help to improve his state? I am a part of the generation that applauded his message- then and Now! My brother Sly, thankyou for your musical gift to us.

  • @papa2katodexter Agreed, that comment was uncalled for but that is the way a lot of people are. Your comment was uplifting.

  • @papa2katodexter and so on and so on and scooby dooby dooby .... love the family stone ... and sly too

  • @papa2katodexter Definitely, Maybe :)

  • @papa2katodexter Love Sly since teen age fair in 1969 !!! so this generation needs to understand that alot of us baby boomers got together a long time ago and knew what we were fighting for unlike these jokers today who know not what they want -

  • @papa2katodexter thats rite on it .thanks man

  • ...more cowbell...

  • @MrJohnmaciver :D so funny

  • One of the first pieces of music I ever bought. They had so many great songs!

  • Crooklyn!!!!!!! for life

  • @JdotCOOLIO

And you are getting smarter with these words. Soon you're gonna be to smart, watch out! Ups! Too late, you jos got better than anything else, not different, can't say I like you better, you are just better.

  • @JdotCOOLIO why you come here to say that? Is Chris Rene singing? No. So don't just add people who have nothing to do with the video. Seriously man, you can say that on his video. But I have to say his version is alright but its a remix

  • ...and so on and so on and scooby doobie do. Times are tough even for Sly.

  • One talented guys. Heard he's hit upon really hard times of late. Sad.

  • What the hell is a "Boom Locka Locka Locka"?

  • @asfranko1 you'll learn when your older

  • @asfranko1 boom shockalocka, it's a funk feeling, you had to be there in that era to get it.

  • LOVE THIS!!! Heard it in person at a concert in Ann Arbor (?) a million years ago.

    Sly Stone b. 1943 in Dallas TX 6' 2" (1.88 m)

Elected to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993 (as a member of Sly and the Family Stone).

  • The lyrics state the idea that nobody is more important than anybody else. A lot of people still know this truth. That is why we have Occupy Wall Street.

  • Definitely Maybe, brought me here C:

  • ooooooooo sha sha...

  • I am sure the record company milked him for all they could get and booted him out. Nobody can take away what he accomplished.

  • Sly Stone just released an album

  • Is this Dexter on U.S. XFactor???? :)))))

  • Why was he arrested?

  • I got to see SLY a few years ago in San Jose, Ca. It was amazing. The only bad part was that everyone was screaming so loud that I could bearly hear him. Then, after about an hour, the cops came and arrested him from the stage.

  • @SpaceRocker75 Okay cool

  • @SpaceRocker75 alright, who were they with then? :)

  • Love Motown

  • God has everything and everybody in his hand. You don't have to feel sorry for him, this was in the plan of God for it to happen for Sly this way. Think about it everyone has there chance in life. If your's hasn't come yet, it's coming. Just ask the Lord for what you want and it shall be given.

  • @jeromewilliams907 I keep asking him for next weeks lottery numbers, not once has he replied.

Now the devil on the other hand says he'll give me them, if I sign some silly contract about my soul or something

  • @jeromewilliams907 your right god's plan was to have people exploited for their talents and left with nothing...gee i wish i had thought of that

  • Praying for Sly, I pray that he gets not just the help he needs but the healing that he needs! Sly is not only a great artist but his music is the fabric of America, it's what America is all about. Your fans love you Sly, may god bless you!

  • You don"t have to pray for him ,but I will....his songs brought a a lot of joy to my life

GOD BLESS Sly and the Family Stone!!!!!

    Love ya Brother!!!!!

  • Sly is still trying to bring us all together through his music. Timeless, ageless legend!

  • @ChickinNotherstuff your taste is not awesome when you listen to that kind of music haha.

  • classic song!

  • The Christian praise artist Nicole C. Mullen does a cover of this and does justice to it. Do not read in to this that I said it was better,it is very good though.

  • Thumbs up if you grasp the deep irony of asking people to thumbs up you because you didn't learn about this song from a television show.

  • Something VERY wrong with the fact that he's homeless...

  • I am shocked and horrified. I sure hope someone will help him for old times' sake - No one I know can afford to help anyone anymore.

  • If he'd drive his van to some place else other than L.A. his cost of living would be lower but I am sure someone has already suggested that.

  • Pretty sad to hear how much he has fallen. I wish him well.

  • Poor Sly now really is an "everyday person." Homeless and broke.

  • @danning1 that's getting to be a too common occurrence these days....

  • @danning1

yea everyone here should send him a dollar~

  • @danning1 He has the biggest shopping cart on Skid Row. Almost as big as mine.

  • @danning1 I'd give him a dollar.
