  • ITS GREAT TO FINALLY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE SINGING ABOUT!

  • Poa sana!

  • I grew up a white (mzungu) in America, to a racist father. This was one of the songs that got me interested in African music. 20 years later, i have spent living in Africa, with Africans.

Now i am an African. i speak several African languages Us africans may not have tons of money, but we have somethings the west can never take, great music, and community.

    Proud to be African.

Asante sana ndugu. Asante mingi Maroon commandos !

  • @siti1ca mod´st welcomed brother

  • Wonderful work for the translation. this marron's hit is a real

    hit

  • Am really excited getting this song over here. I love this song ever since i was a little kid (in late 1980s). Some people here (in Tanzania) still think this is a Pare song. My father still has it. Being a Pare (my father is from Same, Kilimanjaro) makes me even more crazy with this hit. My body shivers with joy when I hear "......Kireti...." since its my grandma's surname. Thank you Taita and Kenyan people for this beautiful song! East Africa Pamoja!

  • @tanzanianboy NIce comment Tanzanians are always positive.

  • You all have no ide what thiis song means to me. I live this song but cannot express or explain to my son( the mwadavida ) what this is all yabout. Lolest. Save me coz he is not even interested.

  • This song reminds me of president moi's nyayo era, in the 1980's.

  • moi was a real president despite his down falls ,i miss kenya alot ,nyayo nyao karibu siku za shows ,kenya is my real roots

  • @ndalut I do not know what was real about moi. He could have done better. Kenya would be a much better country had he developed the country instead him allowing tax payers money to be stolen by a few people. Any government should be responsive to the needs of its people, and moi terribly failed to do that. 45 years after independence, 80 percent of Kenyans still live under poverty line. He was a president for 24 yrs. He could have done a lot.

  • @ndalut Dear you nyayo was a good leader despite he led people decide instead of himself as as a leader i will never forget his words KUKOSA MWELEKEO !!!!!

  • god bless the Kenya Army. Tupe nguvu Baba kutumikia nchi yetu.

  • Ohhh what a beatifull memmor those days when we used to follow marron commados where ever they played their

music live long wazee wa kazi i miss every beat !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Soothing! I like the harmony in the voices. So it is possible for a whole group to lead and chorus as well! This is African music.

  • quintessential Kenyan music at its best. Thanks for the upload and the lyrics, and thank you Habel. You gave us a gift that will live with us long after we are all gone.Whenever I hear this song, I feel like resttling in the former larger Taita District

  • The soldiers did their best under the leadership of Abel Kifoto. That was MAROON COMMANDOS at it's best. I luv it coz it reminds me of the whole crew ; Kibe ,Tuesday, Ogoma, Ringo's etc. Thanks for posting this.

  • disco bravo hassan

  • chawucha Wakesho kwa Voro!

  • Like this song very much.

    Thanks for translating.

  • Thanks a bunch for translating Charonyi! Kifoto was a local celeb in my hood. I grew with his kids Sophie, sweetie, jackie etc.

If its not too much to ask, please post the Taita lyrics.

  • na wewe ndio nani? huenda ninakujua! nilizaliwa huo mtaa pia. i can only support this kind of music, sio zile sijui nasikia zinaitwa sijui genge, n the rest that don't have a formula. Let alone those modern-age Kenyan 'musicians' can't even play a single note!

  • Huenda wanifahamu. Tuliishi gorofa mpya hadi mzee alipoacha jeshi.

  • Thanks so much for posting this. This tune has been one of my favorites for a long time but I never knew what the words meant.

  • umutibo weeeee kwani we ni waingo, hiyo wimbo unaulizia ilikuwa ya muungano choir, sasa tutaipata wapi na boniface mganga alika masaa

  • U guessed right. i am wa ingo. but i have an issue that stems from those sides. if this song can be here, why not kauga ya chee? please pretty please, ata kama BM is no more, the legacy should live. au sio?

  • Nani ajua huu wimbo na anafursa ya ku post? Kaunga ya che!!!!! Kaunga ya dinjira sere.............

  • Asante sana kwa kututafsiria hii ngoma evergreen!!!

  • Karibu tena sana!

  • High School Music Festivals. AQ graduands this is the BEST we did with Moyale

  • Huh?

  • kizozo asante sana. nani kama wewe, hakuna. thanks alot for the translation and u did it so well. thanks na ubarikiwe na uendele na moyo huyo huyo. mimi niliwapenda wanaume wa kitaita tangu utoto wangu, ni waungwana kweli,.

  • Great fan of Kifoto and the Commandos. Anyone with more of their hits (Sofia, Pole Kijana/Tuachane, etc).

Thank you so so for the translation! Could sing along from start to finish but had no idea what it all meant! Thanx compatriot!

  • You are welcome! Well now you know.

  • Thanks so much. The words and map make it even more beautiful.Kitaita chenyewe kitamu hii ni lugha ya kurudisha raha moyoni...na kupuuza ugumu wa maisha ya diaspora.
