  • a lot of british people have lisps and theyre not gay.

  • I'm gay and I do not speak with a lisp... ew! But I have been told that I have the gay mannerisms (ie: hand gestures and other speech idiosyncrasies)

  • Could you fucking speak up?

  • because many of them are deranged and in dire need of psychiatric help, despite what the PC folks would have you believe.

  • I think the answer to this isn't that complex. In any society there are many various subgroups. Even in "straight" society you have the valley girl types or redneck wannabes or gangsta wannabes and they talk with a similar lingo regardless of where they are from. In the gay community you have those who are more flambouyant and campy with it and they see and hear other men in this subgroup talking like this and begin to adopt it themselves. Maybe even without realizing it

  • "As young gay males grow older, they develop a toxin in there body called Noxitrill that causes unusually shiny lips, and sometimes some develop a lisp"

    - seventeen magazine

  • @snakeo33 I hardly think that Seventeen magazine is going to provide credible information.

  • "A gay man is technically not feminine in any way, even if they are flambouyant and...you know..you know...happy and...well...JUST GAY." So much insight there sir.

  • Young single black women are also affected by this particular speech defect.

Maybe I'm describing an urban myth.

  • @MoorLetoh lol

  • seth rogan and jack black

  • lol. on the side theres an ad of "see photos os gay singles in Waverly" lol thumbs up

  • Nothing, some of my best friends are religious!

  • LOL @ 2:22

    best sentence ever.

  • @faintmelody Time to draw a picture of what that looks like. Hmm.

  • you talk with a lisp;)

  • I speak with a gay accent, although I wish I didn't.

  • Joanna: So you're gonna quit?

Peter Gibbons: Nah-uh. Not really. Uh... I'm just gonna stop going.

Joanna: When did you decide all that?

Peter Gibbons: About an hour ago.

Joanna: An hour ago... so you're gonna get another job?

Peter Gibbons: I don't think I'd like another job.

Joanna: Well, what are you going to do about money and bills and...

Peter Gibbons: You know... I've never really liked paying bills. I don't think I'm gonna do that, either.

  • tobuscus...100%

  • I'll ask. Bless you, man. If you're not religious, then a big thumbs up. You're a good guy!

  • @fingers7dials

What do you have against religious people dickhead?

  • @LanceMurtagh Everything.

  • Geez man you hit it right on the head. I think a lot like you. 'wow there's someone who's different to me. Hey that is interesting. I wonder how that works. I think I

  • 'oh I hear lesbians coming' lol

  • It just matters what type of hormones u r born with. Some men are born with more female horemones, and vise versa.

  • it wasn't really a choice, It what I felt! Yes I had the choice to ether accept myself as gay, or just act like I'm not gay and ignore all homosexual desires. So that's where all of those Anti-Gay freaks get the choice thing.

  • Yeah, this HAS to be Seth Rogen--the cop from "Superbad". Same voice, everything.

  • u look like seth rogen..but hotter.

  • I think the phrase he was trying to say is "speech impediment."

There is no straight speech impediment.

  • lololololololololo about the scooby thing

  • completely separate culture

  • As seen in theatre, facial expressions, speech, and hand gestures are extremely exaggerated. This exaggerated way of communication is carried over into reality and used in everyday life. Thus, creating the "sassy gay" archetype. The "gay" form of communication is completely separate from that of your average heterosexual male simply because straight guys dont typically hang out with gay men and although they act similar to girls, there different lifestyles have led to the formation of a

  • Lets take San Fransisco for example. Everyone knows San Fransisco has a large gay population and for that reason, it ends up serving as a refuge against all the hatemongers who use to constantly terrorize them. Now that these men are interacting with each other, possibly more so than women as they would have been forced to do in the past and through socializing begin to adopt each others likes and dislikes. For example: I've found that for some reason a majority of gay men love theatre and drama

  • I myself have pondered this same thing many a time and oddly enough the answer came to me when i started watching this. Gay men are typically chastised by boys for being gay and are forced to socialize predominantly, if not completely with girls. This is where they adopt initial female behaviors. Most gay guys I know are typically more flamboyant than girls however. Why is this? After they leave home gay men would naturally want to leave to a place that has a higher homosexual population.

  • I'm a gay man.

As a child, maybe 3rd grade, I realized I had a tendency to sound like a valley girl. If I spoke naturally, it would come out with a gay lisp. I never had any interest in being a valley girl, although I did enjoy dresses and girlish dances for some reason.

But I ended up suppressing it realizing that it was a beacon of gayness which would have certainly made me an appetizing target for bullies.

From my experience, the gay lisp is gained subconsciously. Don't know how or why.

  • I think you are gay,why else would gay accent matter to you

  • I hear lesbians coming! XP Lol U EARNED MY LIKE

  • Good evening morning Internet ??? Good intro lol

  • good vid bro remeber me u went at it wit over that whole JUGGALO thang hopefully u overstand now that we are juss people

  • "....some form of sexual sorcerer." xD hahaha.

  • 34 people are gay's with lisp's

  • As a straight man of course you don't talk with a strange accent. The majority of people are straight so we are use to it so obviously when we hear someone talk it sounds normal. Now with the gay lisp, I myself am gay and I CAN tell you that in general we are very feminie just because we like feminine things (I don't know why we just do) so we tend to have an attitude that is flambouyant and over the top so it shows through with they way we talk. They don't purposely talk like that.

  • You're tho thilly.

  • hahaha "ink on your dick... because they're cartoons."

  • sexual orientatoin accent.

    LMAO

  • Strange video, I have never met a gay man with a lisp, seriously! so I think this must be a minority? I am gay and have been to gay bars so have met a few!

  • @elwoodetubes

I don't know that lisp is wuite the right way to describe it. But there is something distinctive about the vocal patterns, though I can never quite put my finger on it. All I can say is I've met quite a few people and immediately suspected they were gay based on their voice, only to find myself quite correct later on.

Do all gay men have that "distinctive sound?" No. Is everyone who speaks like that necessarily gay? No. But there does seem to be some correlation.

  • this is seth rogen's little brother or cousin or something. u jsut gave urself away kind sir.

  • straight men just assume that the way they sound when they talk is normal. people have different ways of speaking all over the world. they guy in this video has a slow monotone low voice and there are other men who speak faster and higher with more inflections and nuances in the way. just accept it. i could only listen to 3 minutes of this video because this guys voice is do boring. why do you talk like that? you sound so slow and numb.

  • I played bass for a band called Sexual Sorcerer.

Ok srsly tho, I was confused about the gay lisp as well. I considered it to be just something kids/teens/adults would pick up when they want to fit in and they chose to try and fit in with the gays and thus I'd call them phonies. My opinion has changed since then but one fact remains. The lisp is fucking annoying.

  • Ridiculous. What's with the supernatural mythologizing going on in this vid? There are 454 views as of now, and thinking about all the 'extreme othering' that is being ratified under your 'non strange straight man' stance makes me fret. Why does anyone sound how they sound? So they can be found by the social group that they are identified with. You DO sound like your sexual orientation- Velma- and you sound like the comic book guy from the Simpsons. This vid is so arrogant ...

  • You're awesome :)

  • i lol'd like a fuckin' seagull at the Carmen Sandiego anecdote

  • it is funny how i tried not using My gay lisp.... it is like, the only way I can't use my gay lisp, is when i don't breath. lol.

I am from india, and omg... i have a gay lisp...

i wonder if it is like an eye color.

one thing i notice.... if i breath from my abdomen and not my chest, my gay lisp isn't as noticeable.

  • OXYGEN THIEF

  • is this seth doing a bad video

  • It's a mystery to me - but it's not culturally acquired. I was amazed to find exactly the same phenomenon in rural India and in Japan. Oddly it is not an accurate indicator of sexual orientation at all. Plenty of straight people across the world have it and plenty of gay people don't - and those that have it have it in childhood before sexuality emerges.

  • My brother has both the gay lisp, and can make a perfect gay voice, I can do neither, and I'm the gay one. he's not even bi.

  • criss angel has a lisp, and he's not even gay

  • U look like Seth man! Seth riven! Totally awesome !

  • Sexual Sorceror = Organdolf

  • man you do look like seth rogan....

  • its a question me and a lot of people i know have been asking.it is a gay thing kinda like ooh look at me i'm definetly gay cos i've got the lisp lol and if someone is pretending to be a gayboy they do the lisp very strange

  • hilarious as it is, I think you're looking too much into this. Gay men have both male and female characteristics, the voice shares both qualities as well

  • you big gay bear.

  • i met alot of gay men that dont have a lisp xD haha

  • @racer736 they dont all lisp, im absolutely positive there are more reasons than three and your averall reasoning is retarted!

  • @racer736 bye girllllll

  • sssssssssssssssssssoooooooooooooooooooooooo boring... SETH ROGEN!!!!! wait who is he?

  • Oh, and most gays don't have that lisp.

  • Being gay is not a choice, you either are, or you aren't.

  • SETH ROGAN WHATS UP!

  • You look like David Boreanaz

  • @Skinnymarks AN OBESE ugly david boreanz!

  • Unicorn's vault on Goblin Mountain. I'm dying. Gay dying, though, it's not as serious.

I don't know how to do the "straight" voice. I guess I just didn't hear it enough growing up.

  • I think it has something to do with their surroundings. If somebody has that lisp, they are most likely picking it up from women. I'm straight and I sometimes get nervous around women, and it seems like it would be the opposite for a gay man; if they get nervous around men, they would naturally hang out with women to avoid the awkwardness. I know a couple of people with the lisp and the only people they hang out with are women.

  • It's not really a 'gay' thing either. Since alot of gay people do, we naturally assume that it is connected with being gay, but it is more or less being effiminate. I used to talk to this one girl with a really bubbly accent alot on the telephone and I didn't even notice that my accent was changing until it was pointed out.

  • sexual sorcerer

  • the gay lisp is given to all gay boys and men when we first come out. We get a little booklet in the mail that helps us learn how to speak this way.

    DUH!

I was born a homosexual - i knew i wanted to have man on man sex from the age of 7 - i dont have a gay lisp, but i dont care about those in the community who have it.

i also dont give a shit about straight men who speak like you do - kind of like cave men. Where does your strange voice come from? Are you copying your dad?

Give it up - who care

  • @2dboy So...Do you give or take? LOL

  • Comment removed

  • @GirlThatGames247 both! I am totally GGG that way doll!

    ; )

  • @2dboy you knew you wanted to have sex with a man at age 7!?

  • @vickyisthug ok, so not really fully understood it, but i did like to kiss and play around (like most kids do) with my male friends. I was having oral sex with other boys by age 10 (not really orgasming yet) and by 13 i totally knew i wanted a man sexually and understood what that meant. Before that I just sensed i was somehow different than my parents.

whatever - all children are somehow sexual - and thats not pedophilia (due to the fact that i am not claiming i want to have sex with kids).

  • Nobody is born gay, and no science has ever proven this. Past studies which claimed to prove this, were proven completely flawed, false, end even fraudulent. The idea is absurd.

    Period.

  • @Gregusan When did you "choose" to be straight?

  • @Gregusan i bet you think science proves the bible too

    fucking retard

  • @Gregusan Born Gay, right here, and millions like me - suck it up het boy

  • @Gregusan Yes, people are either born gay, or they aren't. I quote the person below, "When did you "choose" to be straight?"

You didn't. Just like gays don't choose to like guys. It's not a choice. You either like guys or you don't, hence, "born".

  • As a gay man myself and one who can basically trace back to early childhood, my attraction to the male species, I didn't come to fully embrace my sexuality till after high school. I have a deep voice and I'm damn proud of it! I never changed a single thing about the way I speak or carry myself. Just on a particular day realized I was gay, accepted it proudly & moved on. I didn't adopt new "culture" per se or any new interests just because I'm gay & someone decided "that's what gays do

  • what a boring pean

  • most men are either 0 or 7

  • Bra is surfer and bro and bradda

  • when do they obtain it they dont have it when they are kids?

  • i think the gay lisp comes from the way you place your toung when you say your "s" and "T's", i also heard that it comes from how strong/weak your lips are....

so if you loosen up your lips and pronounce your "S" diffrently, than you should sound gay.. i think boys get the lisp because gay men hang out with woman more, they like to gossip more, and they listen to artist like Lady ga-ga,

so they grow up learning hot to speak like a girl, rather than a boy,

    but.. thats just my opinion.

  • You totally look like Seth Rogen, but your video is painfully slow to watch. Maybe you could spend a little more time getting to the point and LESS time trying to be so cerebral. Blah Blah Blah Blah

  • you should turn gay and fuck some ass

  • god this guy is great your a lot like seth rogan!

  • i suffer from weird smarmy perkiness. i wish it were not so. the reason is that all gay men are transsexuals in denial. some are girlier than others just as some girls are girlier than other girls. hence non-girly gays are really non-girly girls.

  • Holy shit, now we know where homosexuality comes from. Its not a genetic predisposition OR a choice. It was a hidden secret in an arcane tome of sorcerous knowledge that's been locked away in a unicorn's vault on Goblin Mountain.

It all makes perfect sense now.

  • lol. first off, i really like your eyebrows.

second of all, i really like the term 'dive headfirst into some ass' or whatever you said there. ;)

  • The "gay lisp" is in no way "inherent" to being gay anymore than being gay is inherent to some magical invisible "sexual preference force" on earth. Its a choice, just like being gay is a choice. Now, why the lisp thing became a focus of choice in gays, who knows. I have a feeling its related to the rest of the mysteries surrounding gaydom....like, why do so many gay men, who apparently like men, prefer that their lover be dressed as a woman? To me,it shows an internal conflict with one's self.

  • @SlyHobbit "some magical invisible "sexual preference force" on earth. "

You mean stuff like DNA, pheromones, etc?

  • im gay and i have no ideaa, but its it the sole thing that pisses me off about the gay community, hey gay men are great, but be gay...and be a man, not some lil powder puff, idk it just gets under my skin, shows weakness

  • Comment removed

  • @MonbaraChan

    1. I guess it's like the reason for black people prefering menthols......noone knows.

    2. My brother in law has a lisp, but isn't gay. and yeah Velma's awesome...and sexy.

    3. Yeah if I was a woman or gay, I might fight you for him.

  • You spelled faggot wrong...

  • @lilman1067 I know it was on purpose :D

  • For some reason, I really like this. lol

  • Seth Rogen !!

  • wobble--You're not alone on this issue. I, too, am straight and have been perplexed about the origins of and reason for the "gay lisp" for some time now. It really doesn't make any sense. Funny vid, dude.

  • Oh your are gay i understand now.

  • P.S. You remind me of Seth Rogen.

  • @xShad0wGhostx omg no1!!!! its kevin smith!!! from die hard 4!!

  • Sexual sorcerer? LOL sounds like a porn name or something, haha.

  • your not a science wizard, but you definately pointed out your own homo-sexuality, no biggy tho bro, what ever floats your boat. Right?

  • contrary to the rest of the comments i find this vert interesting, im autistic so i love to learn about my world, i think all oreintation or ftish is a mental illness, not juding anybodey, autism is gong to soon be out of the dsm due to it may not be a dissorter, i feel like if its not social norm , its metal illness, im s and m , im autistic, so im mentel, lol i can already say what my respones is going to be lol

  • That is a take off on.....Hi Sailor, new in town?

  • you look like i am, when i was drinking for 5 days!

  • gay lisp is from the USA, the lack of culture drives to homosexuality, you cant be born homosexual, its the surrounding social condition, when you have no culture no values, and too much so called "freedom" (which is bullshit) drives you, or your children, .....you sexual wizard LOL

  • @Vin4enco then how do you explain homosexuality among animals?

And "too much freedom"? No good ever came from those words.

  • @Vin4enco "you cant be born homosexual, its the surrounding social condition, when you have no culture no values, and too much so called "freedom""

Since when did you choose to be straight? Didn't think so... We are born the way we are.

  • Is this dude for real?

  • I have known gay and straight men that have a lisp. It has nothing to do with gay.

  • you shouldnt know them, you should KILL them!

  • I think it is more important to give Koenigsberg back to the Germans. It was built by them. Kaliningrad will always be German and it will be bought or taken by them one day. Thank You for sharing!

  • are you mad? what are you talking about?

  • How is Riga doing? Have you spoken to Inese Ozoles or Gudder?

  • who is Inese Ozoles or Gudder?

  • I think that blonde hair and green eyes are a nice combination. What do you think?

  • what?? you smoked something? wtf are you talking about?

  • Hi Thailor, new in town?

  • who is thailor? you loonie!

  • I believe that people who do not floss their teeth should be killed.

  • agree, and retards also

  • Genau!

  • Gayness and lisps have a positive correlation. o_o

  • 2:06 / 2:16 !!! hahahahahhahaa!!!! "Dive into some ass..... that doesn't belong to a female." hahaha.

"Like Carmen Sandiago, you try to catch her and she fuckin' runs off..... elusive." YES!!!

  • The lisp and "camp" behavior are learned behavior. The gay men that take those traits often identify with women on most accounts - they love fashion, hygiene, gossiping, ect - women are their peers.

If you think about it, not all women talk or act like valley girls, it isn't biological - they learn it from their peers.

  • Im quite upset that I was directed to this video as I will never get the 3 minutes of my life I spent on this ignorant and uneducated drivel.

Your sense of self importance with your steady and paused speech was amusing though.

  • Yay for self-righteous internet trolls!

  • agreed

  • that beard is gay ... you big gay bear

  • LOL he is a bear isn't he...

  • It is not a technical lisp. These attributes have proven difficult to define and quantify but seem somewhat independent of other variables in the phonology of the English language, such as accent and register. Two studies (Linville, 1998; Munson, 06) did find that a subset of gay men produce /s/ distinctively; however, the way in which /s/ was pronounced—with a high peak frequency and a highly negatively skewed spectrum—made it more distinctive from other similar sounds, rather than less.

  • A science wizard? Hilarious!

The lisp thing, great question, I ask that question all the time!

  • "Dive head first into some ass lol wonderful!

  • omg he does look like seth rogan! I didn't notice until someone pointed it out! lol

  • wow... seth rogan look a like?

  • i tot he looked like seymour hoffman

  • "DIVE HEAD FIRST INTO SOME ASS." Best line in the video.

  • Oh, and Seth Rogan.

  • You just helped me figure this out. Same idea why wiggers talk like... O_o' black people. :D They've formed their own accents over time to seperate themselves from everyone else. It's pride. -.- And I hate ALL pride... but whatevvv... Pride enthralls us and it will end us.

  • Gay men who are super closeted, on the other hand, go the other route. They're the ones who sound hyper-masculine in order to fit in with the straight men they're trying to hang around, and, well.. be.

  • As for the fabulous gay "accent", that's analagous to your funny way of pronouncing "house" and words that rhyme with "power". (I'm Canadian, so I find it hilarious.) Accents like these, according to the linguists that be, are (theorized to be) a means of group acceptance. Gay men need to be on-side with the girls, (the ones who won't beat them in Junior High), so it's natural to adopt their mannerisms.

    More next post...

  • You thilly man, of course you signify your heterosexuality with the way you speak! Your lower register, your halting prosody - two of many ways in which you scream, "breeder". My guess is you also construct masculinity by contrasting your intellect (big words) with unexpected profanity.

As for my fomer gay lithp, it's the result of a physiological difference - what's called a "tongue thrust". (This has advantages in other areas).

    More in next post...

  • It has been my experience that :

    1. Very few men that have a pronounced lisp are straight.

    2. Very few gay men speak with a pronounced lisp. We are ALL surrounded with gay men, we just don't know it.

  • we all have gay bisexual and straight in us

why? u might ask? because my best friend turned bisexual because he used to see me almost nakedeverytime we were alone in the house,

he was straight im preety sure of that because he never showed any interest in men and all he would talk about was women he was straight but with time he became bi, we had sex an became boyfriends then broke up and were friends again and eversince our experience he's now Biexual therefore we all have gay in us

  • RON WHITE ONCE SAID:

    You like porn?

    Yeah I love porn...

do you only watch porn with two women having sex?

no I watch a man and a women making love!

Do like the guy to have a small half shaft penis?

NO I LIKE BIG HARD THROBBING CO......

    XO

  • lmao

  • Ridiculous post.

Don't judge the world on your own experience(s).

I don't like Indian food, I used to like some Indian food, but I don't anymore. So anyone who likes Indian food really has not liking Indian food in them, and really doesn't like Indian food at all. Alright a kinda bad analogy, but you get the point.

I'm hetero in case you wonder and no....

  • Comment removed

  • interesting

  • Great Video man. I really dont know HOW i came across it ( as i am not gay), but this is some real shit. I have wondered the same for a long time. And its nice to hear somebody that is smart and has intellectual talent when it comes to speaking. Most of these people on here couldnt add 2+2. But yeah, props man. I might just hafta subscribe to your vids. and FUCK all these haters on here. Quit jackin off on ur moms keyboard and talkin crap like you are big and bad.

    Peace. :)

  • WTF?? you jsut wasted a few minutes of my time with this pointless rambling.............blahhhhhhhhhhh

  • I think it happens because gay men try to be different, and like everyone to know that they are gay.

  • I think it has to do with gender/sexual roles and a 'fuck you I'm gay!" to society. There are gay men like myself who don't feel like culture- or enough of it anyway- has said, we fucking hate you to i guess, lash out in such a way. but that's my take.

  • allright mate. i support you and your decisiont. im not gay, im just cool with gays.

  • Not all gay people use it

  • he looks and talks like seth rogan!!:P

  • You not sure that gay/straight are born that way because you were born straight and that is socially accepted. 'Cus when you find out you're gay you just wish you weren't, more than anything, and I mean it, wish it with all of your being, and trying to be different and straight with inhuman effort and find out that you just can't be anything other than yourself. That's when you know you ought to have been gay from start.
