Holy cow! Anyone who developed or tested this game might have never thought in their wildest dreams that 'Adventure Island' could be played like this...It is like riding your skateboard while on steroids :P I vividly remember my futile attempts to try and finish this game during my childhood. Finally saw the ending...phew..Good job...worth watching :)

The game however had a glitch (not sure if it was meant to be a feature or a glitch). You could continue the game from the world in which you died. Using that glitch, the farthest my frnds and I could reach was World 3 !

SEGA didn't want WB on the NES and other systems, Hudson changed the character art and title. The other AI games are original not ports of the later Wonderboy games. Sega Master System was short lived, and NES did way more with the franchise. NES>SMS any day. As a kid the only other famous Higgins I knew was the british character on Magnum P.I. If that rich old guy ever had a british butler I could easily imagine the butler calling him Master Higgins, but Im sure there is no connection between the two characters. In the japanese version of the game the guy has a japanese name that starts with H.

if you guys think this game is hard, you should look at those first gen NES games like wrecking crew, lode runner 2, etc...the graphics are not even 1/4 the quality, but gameplay is 10x harder. Some of those games I can't even finish with emulator and its save/load feature (unless I plan to spend days playing the same game over and over).

You can continue and start from the level you died from. All you have to do is take the bee at the end of the first level, then when the screen says game over, press forward key and start together. You will then continue from the level you last died. I dont do that, play it like a man without any continue's.
