  • I would rather have your trees sprayed than have the agricultural and lumber industry hurt by these pest which will raise my food and home building prices. I would rather have my trees on my property still live at the cost of your feeelings getting hurt. I would rather have our states forest be green and thriving than save your gate from being torn down. The governments actions were justified.

  • Thank god someone sprayed your gypsy moths. One resident with an infection means everyone else within a 10 mile radius has it too. If not I hope they sprayed everyone within a 10 mile radius. They sprayed BTK....the gasoline in your car has a higher probability of giving you cancer....lol.

  • i believe one of the biggest embarrassments to this country would be all the knobshines who pour Tru-Green/Chemlawn on their yards in a silly effort to keep them looking like golfball greens. my idiot neighbors, for example, have already had 3 applications and in the morning as the dew evaporates the air fills with an unbelievably sickening stench. and guess what? killing off all the dandelions is causing honeybees to go extinct!

moral of the day: FUCK YOU TRU-GREEN

  • did anyone die?

  • i was yg ut house dog fart nobody./

  • I don't know about anyone else, but over a year after the sprayings, I'm not dead. So I guess I'm okay, or not allergic to anything in them.

(Having said that, I don't agree with this company just barging in and spraying...)

As for chemtrails...sorry, but from what I can tell, they're just a paranoid fear with no basis.

Yeah, I've seen them...but who knows what atmospheric disturbance makes them last longer and larger? (Look up HAARP.) Case in point: Where's the whistleblowers?

  • Also there are "NO" registries telling who is allergic to "ANY" chemicals... Have YOU ever been checked for allergies against these chemicals? the answer is NO, i know this because Trugreen never did "anything" to test its own employees!..... Urea, ammonium nitrate, dylox, 2-4-D, dicamba, mcpp plus many othe chemicals are going into the water.... its a fact!!!

  • "Berrigirl96" obviously works for trugreen.... More lies to thwart the public, i sold my company to trugreen and worked for them, so i know what i'm talking about.... Trugreen in Cincinnati (south) ohio routinely sent 40 plus trucks out to spray lawns in the pouring rain knowing the chemicals would go directly into the water system... Why do you think the outlet from the ohio rivers and the mississippi rivers into the ocean is called the "DEAD ZONE"? i'll talk to the news anytime!!!

  • Screw all of you who think that it's ok to spray biological poisons. There is a lot more that our government is spraying into our atmosphere than pesticides. Enough is enough.

  • You can have a free service or lose all of your trees. There's nothing going to kill you, the only thing that warrants your concern is if you are allergic to these products. Every state has a registry that has all people allergic to these products. You will be fine. Gypsy moths left uncontrolled can destroy regions!

  • Because of DiPels specific mode of action, DiPel is not harmful to humans or animals. The biological compounds put less stress on the environment than many synthetic chemicals and have not been observed to be harmful to fish, wildlife or livestock.

Also, Dipel must be eaten to be effective. Your concerns appear to be unfounded.

  • This is an outrage and typical of our government. Please google chemtrails. We are all being sprayed with toxic chemicals.

  • I shall now say something totally understated:

    THAT IS F***ED UP! >:O

Dear god, I hope the lawyers get them back good!! If not just from the malpractice of the use of the chemical, but from the manner they forced their access onto the peoples' properties. How can the government argue with that!?!?

  • This is an outrage, and is precisely how CDFA behaved in Santa Cruz and Monterrey counties spraying human beings with the excuse of the light brown apple moth. Hundreds of families fell ill and the beaches were littered with dead sea birds. Honeybees and songbirds died and disappeared.

CDFA has broken the law and should be held accountable for disregarding the Constitution and Geneva Code.

We are so sorry this happened to the people in Ojai.

  • Comment removed

  • That comment is quite unkind. There was nothing in Ms. appleby's garden that qualified as a dangerous, prospective host to the gypsy moth. Please investigate your sources before you spew your venom.

  • Yes, the comment was a bit harsh, but Mrs. Applebee's garden had numerous oaks, citrus and avocado trees, all of which are host species for asian gypsy moth.

  • I don't think we are refering to the same Ms. Applebee. The person I know has a 4 foot by 6 foot by 12 foot garden of vegetables and a little banana tree in front of a mobile home.

  • Yea Trugreen would never forcibly do that so please blame the government not trugreen

  • Tru Green and the government were out of control and sprayed everything in sight during the first round of dipel application. Roses, deciduous trees without leaves that aren't even four foot tall, and so on. They left behind 600 gallons on one property and just to remind you, there were no moths on these properties.

  • Did you survey every leaf on the property for egg masses or larvae? No, I didn't think so. 400 meters from the find sight sprayed with Dipel is a small price to save the oaks of the Ojai valley.

  • How can you ask and answer a question about a place you've never seen? Are you familiar with the gypsy moth? All my trees and plants were clean from any larvae and egg masses from the gypsy moth. Many trees hadn't leafed out yet. I don't believe in spreading pesticide on residences prophylactically. With that logic, everything everywhere should be sprayed. In Canada, the same product is for use in forests and woodlands ONLY and is BANNED from being used where people live. Think about it.

  • No, not everything everwhere should be sprayed, just 400 meters from the find site. Yes, I have seen all the spraying, and am familiar with the gypsy moth and its biology. Despite Canada's laws this product has been used in organic agriculture in the US for 30 years. You're making a mountain out of a mole hill, if you consider all of the other MUCH MORE TOXIC products that farmers are using and the cdfa could be using, but don't.

  • I can imagine you need to feel heard and you need to feel safe. Could it be that your 8 foot wall and electric gate gave you a false sense of security, and once breached, your oldest, deepest, most unresolved wounds/fears/memories have been stirred up again? Would you be willing to 'try on' feeling happy, safe and healthy regardless of what other people do?

I'd suggest a session with Byron Katie

  • The is not a psychological issue. This is clear violation of civil rights. Might I suggest a course in American History with an emphasis in civics or perhaps a review of the US Constitution and our Bills of Rights.

  • This is not a violation of civil rights, the government agency involved followed the law and went through the appropriate process, sometimes the public interest simply outweighs the private interest, which is also a part of democracy, also of note is that the vast majority of citizens were either fine or very much in favor of spraying because they wanted to protect all the oaks in Meiners Oaks, they are the real environmentalists

  • benepoppel, are you aware of the amount of product that was used and also the fact that flowers and other plants were doused not simply oaks and other trees. And by the way, was your property in the "zone". And just what do you define as the appropriate process, I'm interested?

  • The amount of Dipel used, BT, was enough to evenly coat the tree's leaves, and of course there will be spray that comes down on other plants. This point is irrelavent though because Dipel (BT) has no phyto-toxicity, nor mammalian toxicity, and that's backed up by 30 years of organic farmers drenching their crops with the stuff, or other formulation of BT, to control caterpillars.

  • Which means butterflies and possibly lady bugs. Think about it, if it kills, it kills! Pesticides are poison! It's simple.

  • Your right, we are not refering to the same person, but regarding the spray, Bacillus thuringiensis is only toxic to the larval cycle of certain beetles, moths, and butterflies. It does not effect ladybugs or bees, although it may effect the larval stage of certain butterflies. Which is a small price to pay for the overall well being of the ojai valley trees.

  • In regards the "appropriate process", I'm no lawyer, but the case was taken before a judge. Entomologists and biologists were consulted to determine if this was necessary. The judge did deem it necessary to protect the hardwood trees of the Ojai valley as well as local agriculture.

  • So you suggest "feeling happy" and "safe" as someone sprays you with poison. What kind of LA LA Land do you come from? I suppose that you would recommend being happy about being raped, as long as it was making the man happy.

  • This is horrifying. We must certainly do something to stop this militant treatment of private citizens.

  • Yes, I agree, any suggestions?

  • i am so sorry you were treated in this way. it sounds horrifying.

i don't blame that woman for screaming and crying. poisoning sick people and their properties, food and animals. we will be sure to spread the word about your story because this needs to stop.
