  • Great video, just wish there was more recent footage to be found such as this. I served aboard her from '89-'90 in 1st Division. Miss shipmates from Deck & Nav Depts. What a shame the museum idea was scrapped! I would love to get aboard her again as this gentleman did.

  • they haven't scrapped it yet

  • Thank you! I was in V-2 1987-1989, sad to hear her fate....

  • I remember the old girl. Did the last cruise on her with VAW-125. I personally think she was better than the Enterprise, which we got right after her.

  • Thank You for making this.

  • Suckin 60 from Dixie! I served onboard from 1970-73 Vaw-123. She deserves a better fate.

  • very sad,I did a westpac on sara in,must have been 71 or 72.It was alot of work,I did hook up and hold back,But it was very memorable

  • I was part of Sara's decom crew I sure wish she was going to made into a museum instead of scrapped. I was in IM5 div CalLab for her last two cruises.

  • As an old Indy sailor, this video just makes me sad.........

  • What a great video and thanks for posting. I was on CV-64 which is now out of service and its sad when you think about all the men and all the stories that could be told over the course of a ships life. Its kind of weird knowing when these ship are in service there is always people on board and then no one is onboard it just doesnt seem right.
