Just seeing everyone's memories...for me this was listening to the top 20 on a Sunday night and recording it on my mono cassette recorder. Good memories!
@roaringopenfire oops! I think I gave you a thumbs down by mistake, I'm so sorry! I meant to click on thumbs up. I used to do exactly the same thing. And hated the way the Top 40 presenter would ALWAYS talk over the first few or last few bars, just so I couldn't get a clean recording! LOL!
It was well known in the music industry at the time in the late '70s that BA's singles were hyped into the top 40 and mostly did not sell well. WEA were fined gross amounts of money for the scandal with their artists at that time. So much so that Warners in the States were asking how so many records were shipped from the WEA Wembley warehouse, but no money had been made. Who remembers the 'world in action' expose in '79?. BA was ok, but there was no real talent as a performing artist.
He looks SOOO much like Rob Brydon, yet nobody in the media has ever commented about this. This song takes me back to when I was 12 in 1979, I used to love it.
bout time somebody put this on youtube.. iuse to have this on 45 untill my mum threw it up in the air for being a nauty boy i never heard it since due to a piece missing...god that was nearly 30 years ago.. anyway thanks
Thanks - liked all the stuf I've nheard from BA. Somehow this one passed me by. Might try and buy the cd. I love the 1982 Scottish World Cup Song and the swap shop song too. I bought Kool in the kaftan, and to be or not to be, but back then I couldn't affor dalbums so never heard much more. Ha dthe Maggie bell version of Hold Me on Ssome K-Tel compliation.
Ain't heard this IN YEARS!!!
Thanks.

I really love this song. I have not heard this for years but it always has been one of my favourites. Very tongue-in-cheek. Wonderful tune.

It's like a charity song or a parody, but it isn't either of those things, which is probably the point.
