"critically acclaimed" from what!? zombie's 'halloween' was atrocious. "why don't we just make the whole movie about [michael meyers]?" i'll tell you why - because it takes all the mystery and ambiguity so prevalent and KEY in the first one, throws it in a blender with some of the worst child acting i've ever seen (and your damn wife is just as bad) and hits "liquify" ... as in liquified dog shit. the one that had NOTHING to do with meyers was more faithful to the original's spirit.

@JDBCreations but then he would get slammed for copying the halloween film.i think the rob zombie halloween is better than the original.watching the 1978 original now is actually boring.just being honest.sometimes a remake doesnt beat the original,in my opinion.but sometimes its the opposite.when i watch the original elm street movie, sadly, its boring.im 34 years old.i gotta be honest.
@NitroPazuzu Rob zombie is incredibly talented and has alot more creativity than more than half the directors that make movies, especially the ones in the theaters. @lind010 U r describing John Carpenter @ the same time. They r both very talented, independent in their dealings with movie studios, great musicians, writers, directors & producers. They just happen 2 come from different generations.
I think that Zombie did initially have an interesting idea with developing MM's background character, and alone that could have made for a great prequel. But this remake was unnecessary, and instead of creating something brilliant that could scare his audience, all he did was drown us in gore.
I don't get why anyone would come down on the Rob Zombie Halloween, it was fucking great. Good direction that brought an amazing sense of physicality to all the violence, decent acting, and a story that opened up Mike as a fleshed up character without fucking with the central story or theme. Really I think it was everything a remake should be. Now his second Halloween movie was fucking terrible.
I totally agree with the guy at the end. I have no problem with people going and seeing remakes, but they should at least acknowledge that it IS a remake. I've seen too many people thinking that remakes like the remakes of Godzilla and Nightmare on Elm Street are original films.
John's response to Rob about making the new Halloweens was good. I think Zombie ruined the series. And the only reason the movies made so much money is because of the Zombie followers, not the halloween followers.
F.U ROB ZOMBIES VERSION IS THE BEST VERSION. carpenter make michael myers a slow uncreative silent killing, killer. ROB made him a marauding violent phychopath who just beat u to death or killed u in the most brutal and painful way. carpanter = small unscary michael myers
rob= big scary as hell beast
carpenters michael myers was laughable every sequel got worse the first was commical robs was actually enjoyable
@fallinginreverse10 It's called subtlety, it's called atmosphere, it's called brilliance. You wouldn't understand any of this. Hell, you probably think MM is in Halloween 3. Troll on dumbass.
@MegamaXX500 no iv seen all halloweens and they just sucked ass they did not scare me and i was a kid when i saw em and well if ur afraid of dying very quickly then thats u and it all just sucked ass im not trolling im expressing my opinion like half the other arguments on here dumbass so hows about u shut the fuck up and if u would like to have a disscusion then u need to clear ur mind of ur opinion and listen to others and compare and contrast
1. how can I discuss something if I shut the fuck up, nice job dumbass
2. No one found the Rob Zombie movies scary. They were hilariously bad. He just tried so hard to make Mike Myers scary, it was pathetic, giving him dirty hair, a weird mask, making him ridiculously big and for some reason fast. Mike Myers is slow, but he's also one of the scariest and most influential movie villains. Everyone was terrified of him.
3. You call these pieces of shit better than a classic. No
Step into Rob Zombie's twisted mind while watching Halloween. See why Michael Myers becomes a demented, psychotic killing machine through the eyes of Zombie as he takes you down a road too brutal for words.
As a child, Mike's mom is a stripper, how embarrassing! And his fucked up, scumbag stepfather was abuse. VERBALLY ABUSIVE; THE WOST! If you haven't vomited yet, Mike also had two bullies in school. Poor kid was picked on occasionally. Indeed, Mike's childhood was unimaginably horrific.
@andrewbeeable lol I was being condescending. I don't know if you've seen it, but Zombie's Halloween is one of the worst, God awful atrocious pieces of shit I have ever begrudgingly sat through. I'm not knocking the fans, but that's the best I could say about the movie itself.
@TheLegendOfRandy how carpenter ruined those movies lol i wasnt scared AT ALL rob made it to where it was fun to watch michael murder and beat people to death hahaha fuck carpenter he is just retarted :"D
John Carpenters Halloween is Brilliant. It pioneered so much... Zombie's first was perfect homage to the original, with some obvious zombie'ness! Part 2 was all Zombie, and I loved it!!
You can't "slam" zombie for anything, he's an amazing artist, that creates.
@moivejunkiemike im pretty sure rob says he called john and told him he was remakeing helloween and john says have fun with it....so yh ur way off base by saying john didnt want him to...i find it really offensive that u have to lie to ppl to get them to watch ur shit
ok frist off to all u closed minded ppl FUCK OFF!! no gives a shit wat u think....2ndly the original will always be the original noone can change that rob was just giveing us a different point of view i really enjoyed getting to know michael and understanding why he so badly wanted to kill his sick ass family rob did a really awesome job in seeing both johns vison as well as his... 3rdly to all the haters....well u guys can suck my nut sack....ASSHOLES!!!
@fallinginreverse10: It means that a majority of critics came to the consensus that a certain film was good or memorable. It's funny because critically acclaimed, Rob Zombie isn't.
@SalsaShark109: I did see it and it was solid at best. I wouldn't call it the best horror film of the decade. Shutter Island, while not a horror film, was definitely scarier.
Zombieween sucks soooo much ass. Kids now days don't know good movies. Listen to Tony Moran at what he says in this clip. Don't fucking touch the greatest horror film of all time. Any one who disagrees can suck Rob's nut sack. John Carpenter's Halloween will ALWAYS remain the best slasher movie and best of the franchise.
- "Any one who disagrees can suck Rob's nut sack."
Or you could be an adult about it.
If R.Z had made his films in the 1970's or 1980's, chances are he would have been considered one of the kings today. Do you disagree? If so, can you name even one specific point of criticism directed at R.Z, that can not also and easily be applied to Carpenter, Hooper, Argento, Fulci, Romero, et cetera?
People are assholes, the Rob Zombie remake (or reimagining) was brilliant and im sorry to burst your little bubbles 70s kids, but its as good as the original, even better in some ways. I grew up on the original and its always been my favourite horror movie of all time, however the remake showed a more indepth look inside the mind of Michael Myers which for me was better than the original. The first half of Halloween 2007 was flawless, the slasher scenes were scarier in the original
@vomitedshit Your attitude stinks, im 28 years old and im not against people remaking movies. Like i said, i grew up on the original, but i see the good in the remake, and you dont, but not coz there is no good in the remake, just coz you choose not to like it, you probably decided you didnt like it the second you heard about it. Like the guy in this vid says halloween is halloween, why would anyone wanna touch that.....a person with balls thats who, and it was a great remake
@SamHain1031666 what's good about the remake? that they cussed awkwardly every 2 seconds? that we see michael as a child was white trash and he had a hot mom? that he wasn't the mysterious monster from the original but instead a pathetic little dumb kid bullied and abused into becoming a sadistic freak hell-bent on some weird relative-death kick? that tone and atmosphere and suspense were all ignored in favor of loud music and clunky dialogue? ...2nd half is better only because of the chase
i LOVE Rob zombie, but he should have just called it (Rob zombies Halloween) or something, and stated right away it was HIS IDEA of what halloween would/could have been, like an alternate universe type thing... instead they call it a (remake) and it sucks when you think of it like that..
The so called "remakes" are simply reboots for this generation. I loved this version and the original. I mean, look at Nightmare On Elm Street. That series became laughable, Freddy became a joke. The new one comes out, and it's like Freddy's giving lines that Englund would've gave, but this Freddy's a much darker, scarier character and not a comedian. It pisses me off how people bash updated versions of films because they aren't exactly like the originals.
It's like a cover song in music. Of course it's going to be different. That's the point. People need to relax, and enjoy these films. It's not so much a rip-off as much as it's paying homage with 3 or 4 scenes here and there. Get over it.
Rob Zombie is like George Lucas. How he's successful is an utter mystery. He must have made a deal with a demon who has the power to make it all happen. But, he's more like James Cameron or Michael Bey - very good at hypnotic suggestion. People don't really like his movies, they just THINK they do. "I don't wancha to say anthing, I just wanted to tell ya..." and he doesn't hear how stupid he sounds!? He just snorts like Carpenter's the one being a tool. You are evar so rocknroll, dood! facepalm
I honestly felt Zombies "Halloween" was much more intense, disturbing, frightening, and overall more intense compared to the original that I felt was good, but was cheesy in certain areas.
Carpenter still made the best horror film ever - The Thing :)
@Jtp101z carpenter said that nobody can remake his movie and have it be better pretty much. the last line was that John's movie is the master of its genre, but he is DEAD WRONG. The Zombie brought back his vague movie, albeit exciting, and made it even better by shedding a light on Michael's background, which truly made his movie GREAT. Rob's Rendition is better than the original IMO, and not just in terms of effects because of technology and the time difference
john carpenters halloween was great back in the day but robs remake was the best thing that ever happened to halloween. great movie love the violence. zombie brought to halloween just what it needed. but part 2 thats a different story!
I think what all the Zombie fans are missing out on here is that Rob Zombie's reboot of the "Halloween" franchise wasn't exactly faithful to Carpenter's movies in terms of feel and style. It's not that Zombie's movies are BAD, per se, it's just that they don't really 'feel' like a Halloween movie. I prefer Carpenters because it played a lot more on the ambience and created a kind of isolated, apocalyptic feel which put you in the girls (and Myers) headspace.
Rob Zombie needs to quit movies, cause he SUCKS ASS!!!!!!! He butchered the franchise on so many levels. Total fuck up!!!! No vision. And he always uses the same stupid talentless actors, such as his wife.
And he always uses the same white trash, hillbilly elements in ALL his cheap shit movies.
@Hammersmith80 His entire concept for movies and music is based on trailer trash. He took one of the best iconic horror films, and made the villain a born red neck!!! Like WTF!!!!!!!
I think if Rob Zombie had taken the same storyline, changed the titled of the movie, and given Micheal a different name and mask, the film would have been a success. Instead, he jumped on the remake bandwagon and pissed off a lot of Halloween fans by "re-imagining" a very ironic movie by substituting atmosphere and fear with blood, guts, and violence. It could have worked, but not as a Halloween remake.
Fuck everyone who thinks rob zombies Halloween wasn't good. I love his style. He gave depth to michael myers. The childhood scenes make the story more solid and realistic. I prefer it over the original. EAT IT!
What a shitty fuckin' remake! I will eternally hate Rob Zombie for giving Michael Myers a back story. Michael Myers was an evil entity unknown. That was the appeal of the original.
Zombie was right...every sequel made the series more and more shitty. His was not great, but it was much better than the last 6 movies of Halloween. That one with the masks was RETARDED!
This video isn't really John Carpenter slamming Rob Zombie. Talk about misinterpreting the video here. It seems to me that John Carpenter wasn't impressed by the idea of remaking his film. I think he was more slamming the studios than anything, see his comment later on in this video "I get a nice check" I don't think it was a slight at Rob Zombie personally.
brought a breath of fresh air into the series, more like, he frick'n poisoned it. At least I have some respect for him now for admiting that it's his fault for messing up Halloween. The Original will always be the real classic.
The remake and it's sequel would have been fine if they didn't try and Justify Myers actions. We don't care why he is the way he is, part of what makes him scary was he was just an unstoppable force, a blank face, a representation of the boogeyman in physical form.
The remake simply made the mistake of making Myers more human, and taking away what made Myers scary. If they didn't do that, it would have been fine.
The face of fear is only scary as long as we can't see it.
on some real shit rob zombie remade that movie better then anybody else ever did. John Carpenter his the man for it but it yall going to say rob ruined it people that did it after john alrealdy ruined the halloween franchishe filme to me rob put it back on the map
I think the series was ruined after Season of the Witch when they brought Myers back. Carpenter's orginial intention for the Halloween franchise was not to have the same killer come back over and over. Myers was suppose to be in the first two films and thats it, he was burned up in the hospital explosion. Season of the Witch took it in a new direction while still being a Carpenter movie, and the fourth one would have done something different.
I personally loved the film...I loved the original also....You have to look at it in a completely different mind set.... Theres John carpenters Halloween and Rob Zombie Halloween...Rob Zombie wanted to do it his way...Yes the more creepy factor of the original was that you didnt really get a lot of back story of mike meyers in the original which was good but if you where like me after watching the original I wanted to know more about him...which i was really really happy that Zombie did so \m/
Rob was screwed no matter what he did. If he kept it the same people would say "He's ripping off of Carpenter" and if he changed it people would say "He's ruining Carpenter's vision". At least he brought a breath of fresh air to the series.
@Whooligan86 nah dude that's not true. That's a bit of an easy way out or a 'get-out of jail free card'. Even if Zombie made it again, just as the old one but did it PROPERLY it would have been fine. By this I mean keeping it genuinely suspenseful, making it genuinely creepy, just using the basics. Instead he makes it like a really cheap grindhouse film full of shit characters, annoying stupid kids and whenever it gets boring he just throws in a kill to cover himself. He is no horror director.
@Whooligan86 I love the movies, but not as a Halloween movie. I think he could of started from an angle that's not about Michael Myers. But still not bad movies
This shit was never that scary in the first place. The first Halloween didn't make me squirm or feel chills like Exorcist did and does everytime I see it....and it keeps getting scarier, everytime I see it, not to mention you're talking to a guy that's seen every single Faces of Death, DOA, Traces of Death, snuff film and viral ogrish vid he could get his hands on....so what do you think? This shit is still scary? Rob Zombie is a brilliant musician....filmmaking is not his top-hat.
I loved Rob Zombies Version of Halloween, couldn't sit through the whole movie John carpenter made it sucked. I do love John Carpenter's other movies though just couldn't stand that one.
Rob Zombie made halloween so generic. Mike Myers was your typical son of an inbred redneck who got picked on. Come on. It's scarier when the motherfucker is fucked in the head for no real reason.
i love John Carpenter's Halloween and i love Rob Zombie's Halloween and i think that Zombie's Halloween haters are ipocrites, finnally a new vision of the Michael's story, finnally not remake that copy the original.
The remake was better than the original. He only did it because he was hired to do it. It wasn't his idea. He says he's not going to be doing any more remakes of anything. Seriously, I'm sick of remakes. I want to see new movies.
@MASCORPSE gross profit doesn't determine the value of a film. avatar is the highest grossing film of all time, but i can name independent films that had a grossing profit next to shit, and were still much better. i honestly can't say which i like better because i adore john carpenter, but i do like how rob zombie's version sheds more light on myer's back story of WHY he became a killer.
@GothicnerdProduction I think knowing more about Michael makes him less scary...in the original, he was human, but also a bit inhuman...like Carpenter said...he's more of a force of evil
I LIKE ROB ZOMBIE, BUT SOME MOVIES SHOULD NEVER BE REMADE AND HALLOWEEN IS ONE OF THEM . HALLOWEEN IS SUCH A GREAT MOVIE , HOW CAN YOU TOP IT? YOU CANT. DAWN OF THE DEAD GREAT REMAKE, HALLOWEEN NO . WILL NEVER WATCH ZOMBIES SEQUEL , HEARD FROM EVERYONE THAT I KNOW THAT ITS REALLY BAD. I DO LIKE DEVILS REJECTS THOUGH.
JC invented it, he will always be the master of Halloween. Zombie tried to do something different and also pay respect which caused his film to become some kind of schizo homage disaster. Zombies film is enjoyable, I like it, but Carpenters' Halloween is just amazing. It cant be touched.
Well at least Zombie has no trouble admiting that even Carpenter himself didn't want to see a 'Halloween' remake, perticularly in this day when about all that comes out of Hollywood is lame and sorry rehashes, shitty remakes of (usually, but not always) better material.
So Zombie remains cool with me, even though he shouldn't have remade 'Halloween' hehehehe
"with each sequil they got worse and worse" with your remake and your sequil to your remake made it fucking horrible. remakes in general suck. waste of money and time just rehashing a story weve already seen before but slightly different.
Rob Zombies Halloween 2 Unrated Directors Cut is the best halloween movie of them all. He takes that original story, and turns it into a tragedy. If you don't get it, then I feel sorry for you.
For someone who claims to be such a huge horror movie fan, Zombie knows precisely fuck all about how to make one. To make a Halloween movie where Michael Myers is the one the audience is supposed to identify with is to MISS THE ENTIRE FUCKING POINT.
The only thing anyone wants to see from Rob Zombie is a new White Zombie album.
He wanted to go a different way, and make this more on the psychological side, this is showing more of the criminal mind and based on some very famous serial killers and how their childhood had influenced their behaviour. I also enjoyed the parts of Michaels childhood story with the killing, dismembering and experimentation with animals which has been a huge psychological disorder that had been linked with real serial killers. He enjoys criminology, as like I do to try understand these people.
As a vintage horror movie collector who is usually against remakes, I admit that Zombie perfected Halloween (I haven't seen 2) by making Myers more than a random killer in a mask that no one can relate too. Because you see Myers as normal looking kid going to school, it makes it even more terrifying to see what he becomes.
Let me just say this,There are way to many remakes comming out these days. I think that is clearly the result of bad filmmakers, and a lack of imagination and story telling ability comming out of Hollywood;in the 21st century. I think it started with the remake of "Psycho". In the years that have come to follow, a ton of remakes. The majority of them pretty bad.
DrDragon63 Could not be more wrong. and Zombies version is crap. Its pandering to the lowest common denomanator.AkA the American Horror movie Audience.Rule #1 dont touch great films.
@vivsavage13 it's not perfect, but neither is the original. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre created the slasher film genre, & the Halloween series (along with Friday the 13th) turned that genre into something looked down on by audiences. Rob's version isn't any better or any worse than the original - in other words, if his version had been made first, people'd be saying that Carpenter's was dilatory and boring.
Zombie says that each sequel ruined Halloween. But why the f... does he then do an other one??? I do not like his Halloween sequels at all, they are far to violent and way of what carpenter did. Carpenter created atmosphare thats why you can watch that movie over and over again. Zombie does not know what that is!!

1. how can I discuss something if I shut the fuck up, nice job dumbass

@SamHain1031666 the only explanation for your POV is that you're 13 years old
vomitedshit 2 months ago
@vomitedshit Your attitude stinks, im 28 years old and im not against people remaking movies. Like i said, i grew up on the original, but i see the good in the remake, and you dont, but not coz there is no good in the remake, just coz you choose not to like it, you probably decided you didnt like it the second you heard about it. Like the guy in this vid says halloween is halloween, why would anyone wanna touch that.....a person with balls thats who, and it was a great remake
SamHain1031666 2 months ago

It pisses me off how people bash updated versions of films because they aren't exactly like the originals.
philosophygoth91 2 months ago
It's like a cover song in music. Of course it's going to be different. That's the point. People need to relax, and enjoy these films. It's not so much a rip-off as much as it's paying homage with 3 or 4 scenes here and there. Get over it.
philosophygoth91 2 months ago
Rob Zombie is like George Lucas. How he's successful is an utter mystery. He must have made a deal with a demon who has the power to make it all happen. But, he's more like James Cameron or Michael Bey - very good at hypnotic suggestion. People don't really like his movies, they just THINK they do. "I don't wancha to say anthing, I just wanted to tell ya..." and he doesn't hear how stupid he sounds!? He just snorts like Carpenter's the one being a tool. You are evar so rocknroll, dood! facepalm
ion010101 2 months ago

freddy3911 2 months ago
@Jtp101z carpenter said that nobody can remake his movie and have it be better pretty much. the last line was that John's movie is the master of its genre, but he is DEAD WRONG. The Zombie brought back his vague movie, albeit exciting, and made it even better by shedding a light on Michael's background, which truly made his movie GREAT. Rob's Rendition is better than the original IMO, and not just in terms of effects because of technology and the time difference

jessicalea 2 months ago
I think what all the Zombie fans are missing out on here is that Rob Zombie's reboot of the "Halloween" franchise wasn't exactly faithful to Carpenter's movies in terms of feel and style. It's not that Zombie's movies are BAD, per se, it's just that they don't really 'feel' like a Halloween movie. I prefer Carpenters because it played a lot more on the ambience and created a kind of isolated, apocalyptic feel which put you in the girls (and Myers) headspace.

This video isn't really John Carpenter slamming Rob Zombie. Talk about misinterpreting the video here. It seems to me that John Carpenter wasn't impressed by the idea of remaking his film.

(cont) In fact, the fourth film was suppose to be what would become the film The Prince of Darkness, and the fifth film was In The Mouth of Madness.
GriffithAMPS 2 months ago
I think the series was ruined after Season of the Witch when they brought Myers back. Carpenter's orginial intention for the Halloween franchise was not to have the same killer come back over and over. Myers was suppose to be in the first two films and thats it, he was burned up in the hospital explosion. Season of the Witch took it in a new direction while still being a Carpenter movie, and the fourth one would have done something different.
GriffithAMPS 2 months ago
I personally loved the film...I loved the original also....You have to look at it in a completely different mind set.... Well at least Zombie has no trouble admiting that even Carpenter himself didn't want to see a 'Halloween' remake, perticularly in this day when about all that comes out of Hollywood is lame and sorry rehashes, shitty remakes of (usually, but not always) better material.

Devil's Rejects yes. Halloween hell no.
KevServo 3 months ago
