Excellent footage/tribute! "Bring 'em home SAFE!" Please take a moment to view the video response as it relates to 'SAFETY in ACTION' ...learn to fight the FIRE... and NOT the HOSE! BE FIRE SAFE! 3w's.hftfire dot com ...and LEARN what you can TEACH your community to SAVE The LIFE of a dedicated FIRE FIGHTER! TOTAL VICTIM ACCOUNTABILITY at ALL TIMES.. but especially when you ARRIVE! 3w's.fireandlifesafety dot ORG All my best!
I've now uploaded a second version of this film with the original ambient sound of the fireground. Hopefully the quality has improved slightly as well.
Just for interest I may do a new edit of this fire with the original ambient sound and no music. You will get more of a feel of the atmosphere. Also the sound of the oil and chemical drums exploding and the camera shake where the operator jumps every time there is a large bang! Watch this space!
I don't know how many pumps they made. I will e-mail the Sub Officer in charge of the first attendance to see if he can remember. I would imagine 6 or 8 with relief pumps later. I would have filmed more but it was an early 8mm camcorder and the batteries were flat.
You will see Sub Officer Rob Sowerby, Fm John Nutley, Fm Rob Ellis (Pump Operator) Fm Jon Simmonds as well as Divisional Officer Mel Denman. Fm Dave Robinson is there with his back towards us damping down the morning after. If you recognise any others or you were there at that fire please post a comment and let us know who you are and where you were on that day!!
was you one of the fireman if so was there a fireman there named Richard Poole also head of Firebreak?
